The Campaign For DA

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • It's the Fourth of July, all county offices are closed, and there is no Update. Yet . . . wait for it . . . I'm here to defend my title of Hardest Working Man In Show Business.
  • I'm actually reading one of Bill O'Reilly's books, Killing Reagan. It's a pretty good scratch-the-surface history lesson. (And I understand that O'Reilly didn't do anything but agree to put his name on it and promote it in exchange for $$$.)
  • Cutting edge media - KXAS sent out a tweet today which read: "Retweet if you are driving to work this morning!"
  • I spent Saturday night out at Twin Hills on Lake Bridgeport. Man, it was like listening to the civil war in Syria out my door. And it went on past midnight.
  • Sunday night brought the weird combo of fireworks while lightening was coming in from the west.
  • The Family Rescued Pup freaks out at fireworks. She wants to dig a hole -- in the couch. (And then eventually took cover in the safe room. Yes, the safe room.)
  • Hot opinion: Fireworks are a beating after five minutes.
  • Most accident prone area in Fort Worth: I-35 and Western Center Boulevard which has had 595 accidents since the start of 2013.
  • On Saturday, the Wise County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of someone shooting fireworks in the breezeway of a duplex. Here's an idea: Walk out the door yourself and tell the guys to cut that out.
  • Bomb attack in Baghdad killed  at least 165. I miss Saddam.
  • Shoutout to Decatur Tire for solving my tire problem late on Friday (I completely forgot about my tire while at work and it returned the favor by going from a small link to a massive link by late Friday afternoon.) And I ran into four people I knew in the waiting area.
  • Austin: "It was a tragic start to the holiday weekend in Austin, which began when a plane crashed into Lake Travis Saturday afternoon. Later in the day, a two-year-old girl drowned after falling from a private dock into the water, and ten people were rescued from the lake after a boat crash."
  • The fact that Trump used a graphic of Hillary accompanied by the Star of David and "raining money" doesn't show he is anti-semitic. It does show his social media staff is clueless. (Trump revised the tweet later.)
  • NBA free agency should make any NFL player go crazy. The NFL has a horrible players' union because their careers are so short that no consensus to go on strike can be achieved.
  • I have an incredible ability to keep outdoor flowers alive. Then again, there's not much to it other than planting them correctly and then having a disciplined water routine.
  • "A man was fatally shot during a disturbance early Sunday at a northwest Dallas sports bar, police say. The shooting was reported about 6 a.m. at the La Victoria bar in the 2900 block of Walnut Hill Lane near Harry Hines Boulevard. The victim was dead when police arrived."

Regarding the comment that it sounded like Syria outside your house, did you also hear the screams of the people firing? Did you hear the moaning of the oppressed?

I miss Saddam. That's right because at least then we didn't have to hear about the 1000's and 1000's who died at his hand. Liberals just want to feel good about the world and bad news is best kept secret.

"Bomb attack in Baghdad killed at least 165. I miss Saddam."

And I miss a real POTUS, Ronald Reagan.

That reminds me. I better go out and check my tires for links.

CBS Sunday Morning did a profile statement on the artist who did the New Yorker cover. He was inspired by the paintings on the show Good Times. http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/artist-kadir-nelsons-illustrations-of-pride-and-soul/

I miss common sense as well as the truth.

Thanks for the holiday blog today, my liberal friend. I agree about the fireworks, except I'd cut the time down to about 90 seconds. Beating.

"Along with other human rights organizations, The Documental Centre for Human Rights in Iraq has compiled documentation on over 600,000 civilian executions in Iraq. Human Rights Watch reports that in one operation alone, the Anfal, Saddam killed 100,000 Kurdish Iraqis. Another 500,000 are estimated to have died in Saddam's needless war with Iran. Coldly taken as a daily average for the 24 years of Saddam's reign, these numbers give us a horrifying picture of between 70 and 125 civilian deaths per day for every one of Saddam's 8,000-odd days in power."

You miss him, do you?

@11:48
Bless you heart. Reread the comment. The snark font is not active.

A redneck idiot shooting fireworks in a breezeway isn't likely to go all sheepish when being scolded like a first grader, although the mentality is roughly equal. You can expect insults, expletives, more fireworks, or worse coming your way. Plus, you've now got a hostile neighbor right next to you. It's the job of law enforcement to defuse situations like this, no pun intended.

Thanks for working hard! Trumps post was bad enough but the source of the graphic should have warned him off!

Texting, not paying attention while driving, speeding, drinking, tailgating, all reasons for the accidents along 35; the report shows those are the reasons for "accidents"...not construction. Millions of vehicles have passed through there without incident. Idiots are idiots. There are orange signs, flashing speed limit electronic signs, workers, good lines of sight...everything necessary to keep normal drivers who are paying attention safe.

Considering all the people living around here that lost loved ones trying to defeat that guy after his invasion of Kuwait, not a very smart comment that you miss Saddam Hussein. Some people probably take that personally.

Bill O'Reilly might be raking in the money from his books. However, most, if not all, goes to charity.

And I miss a real POTUS, Ronald Reagan. 10:16

Reagan would have pulled out by now, too. Remember Beirut?

Saying you miss Saddam is like saying you miss Hitler! I guess somehow ethnic cleansing is ok so long as there is some sense of order to it and it keeps the peace in Baghdad! Jesus Christ, get a grip man...pretty hard core sinister thought just to slam Bush.

Lake Bridgeport sounded like the civil war in Syria? How? Children crying while being killed? Women begging for their dignity then being assaulted? Blades chopping off heads? Homes being burned to the ground? Screams? You have not the first clue what sounds are associated with the situation in Syria.

@2:17 and 2:57....zoom right over your heads. Bless your hearts.

So confused, what was being lightened from the west? What does something getting lighter have to do with fireworks?

Anonymous said...

So it sounds like knives cutting through spinal cords all around Lake Bridgeport?

Barry, it has sounded like WW II the last 4 nights around our place southwest of Decatur...I think all our close neighbors spent many several thousands of dollars on ammunition. So tired of it, the nightly thunder did stop them a while..not sure which is worse for sleeping..but I didn't do much sleeping...my dog almost cost used to it..she was so sleepless after two nights she was to tired to complain or shake about a little noise like a bomb going of a room lighting thunder bolt.

It's not so much that some miss Saddam. Please recall that the reason for going into Iraq was not to save their oppressed. It was supposedly that Saddam had nuclear weapons that might be directed against us. Of course that proved to be totally false. So don't claim we expended all those soldiers and money to save oppressed Iraqis.

You mean like that time we list a shit ton of soldiers to a bombing in Beruit?
