You are a non-Texan if you don't listen to country music. The first one on the list,Jesus, Take the wheel, is Carrie Underwood's debut song. If you don't know Carrie Underwood....well, she was the winner of last years American Idol.
5:40, "You are a non-Texan...", give me a break. You don't have to listen to country music to be a Texan. I've heard all three of these songs and Carrie Underwood's is very beautiful. The other two are garbage. Today's country artist's don't hold a candle to those of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Most of them can't even sing.
I love country, always have, but I'm gonna go on my own rant here and let everyone know what is wrong with country music right now-
-Carrie Underwood -Rascal Flatts -Big & Rich -Gretchen Wilson -Lonestar (They don't deserve that name) -Trick Pony -Garth Brooks (Wasn't his really old stuff great?) -Nickel Creek -Emerson Drive -Tim "Cry Me a River" McGraw -Oh, and his wife too- Faith Hill -Cowboy Troy -Terri Clark -Sheryll Crow (Go back to your old music career, skank) -Buddy Jewell -Sugarland -And lastly, I hate to say it.... But Brooks & Dunn are starting to suck, big time. They need to play stuff like they used to or get off the radio.
What you listen to makes you no more a Texan than what you wear, eat, etc. To agree or disagree with someone's opinion definetely does not determine whether you're a Texan or not. So, stop insulting people with your ignorance. I'm sorry if that's a little too blunt, but Texan or non-Texan, leave it alone.
I love all the great old country and most of the new country music......music has to change with the times just like anything else........if you don't like my kind of music........u can kiss my ass!
Texan - born and raised. I listen to ABC - Anything but Country. I have always said I lose IQ points when I listen to country. I would have to have a beer in one hand and a cigarette in another to listen to country.

My all time favorite is
"Get your tongue outta my mouth cause I am kissing you goodbye"

All of those songs are VERY good!
The only thing missing is a train song (since Jesus, honky-tonks, and alcohol were covered)!

So watching American Idol makes us a true Texan, too?
How about my all-time favorite "Lovin' Her Ain't as Easy as She Is?"

What happened to the real country? All of this new stuff is rock period. I haven't even heard of those songs.
