The Campaign For DA

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • The Nunes memo was released by Trump over the objection from the Justice Department and the FBI. The Democratic memo was withheld by Trump. Ok, got it.
  • Why does Trump enter into wars he doesn't need to? #MeToo
  • Speaking of people who aren't very smart, the disgraced Fox News star, Bill O'Reilly, came to Trump's defense and immediately got smacked down by a former Fox News star.
  • This is a little weird. Dan Patrick is donating money to Craig Estes opponent and already calling the opponent "Senator."
  • I'll say it: The Winter Olympics are kind of boring.
  • Castle Hills in Lewisville is building a community of rent houses. Check out the starting price:
  • A U.S. drone killed 11 in Pakistan. So as warfare evolves, does the the U.S. need to be paying over $100 million each for the F-35?
  • Very random Walter Payton stat: He passed 34 times with 11 completions (with an average of 30 yards), a bizarre 8 of them went for touchdowns, and 6 were intercepted.
  • The Messenger listed the top romantic comedies. Glaring omissions: (About Last Night with a ridiculously young Rob Lowe and Demi Moore) and the very underrated Shop Girl: “How is it possible to miss a woman whom you kept at a distance, so that when she was gone you would not miss her?"
  • I'm going to go out of a limb and say, "Yes."
  • Having a puppy is good in theory but a beating in practice.
  • VP Pence didn't make contact with the sister of the North Korean leader during the opening ceremony.  But the fact that Pence had the father of the American who was tortured by North Korea by his side put him in a dicey situation.

My gosh Barry, you of all people should understand the people are deemed innocent until proven guilty. How many guys have been run off of the job based SOLELY on the accusation(s) of others -- and sometimes for things that purportedly happened--- over 30 years ago. This is absolutely insane.

The girl in the picture sort of looks like she stepped out of the 1980s. I half expected to see a DeLorean parked behind her.

Of course, if she had, maybe some of these politicians should have joined her when she went back. They could all go back to a time when all of us poor male victims couldn't be randomly chosen for destruction by lying, conniving women. We white dudes have got it terrible now.

Liberals love them some North Korea all of the sudden...I guess, the Islamic thing was getting old.

$2700 isn't crazy for a family making $200-225k/year. At 4.5%, 2.5% property tax (not sure what Lewisville is), and 5% down, a sales price of $400,000, the monthly payment would be $2732. Just guessing, but I think prices for new builds in that part of the world aren't far from that. To not have the maintenance that goes along with a home, it might be worth the extra for some families. Not to mention more and more people don't have the ability (or discipline) to save up just 5% (only $20k in this case), plus another $7-10k in closing costs.

Let's just imagine we're really smart Democrat politicians. Wouldn't it be really smart to put info, sensitive info, in your response memo that you knew couldn't be released, so you could then scream when Trump refused to release it? You could make any claims you want, and the President can't show the evidence to defend himself. The public, purposely deceived, would never know.

Fallon had my vote. Just lost it.

I'm sure people will flock to lease a house with a 2 car garage that you have to drive through a garden to get to.

Do those Castle Hills homes have garages? Because it looks like the one in the picture has a garden in the driveway.

Patrick is settling a grudge with Estes by promoting Fallon. Fallon is totally Patrick's guy and has said publicly that they agree on almost all issues. Handsome young go-getter, but he has the same belief system as our Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Ag Commissioner, etc. The days of good old common sense Republicans who did the right thing for the right reasons are dead. Crazytown is here now.

WK - you can conjure up a story to fit your narrative if you'd like, but a GOP congressman who has actually read both memos (I'll assume you haven't) says otherwise.

Sometimes allegations hurt people? Really Mr President? Kind of like those allegations that the judge hearing your lawsuit on Trump University wasn't a real American because of his heritage? That your alleged sexual harassment victims are all liars? That Obama personally had Trump Tower bugged? That illegal aliens are all murderers, rapists, and thieves? Yea, I see what you mean.

North Korea didn't change overnight. Not suddenly nice folks because of Olympics. Just wait until they show their true colors again soon.

Good option for affordable rental units? Remodeled shipping containers. Want more room? Add another container. Makes perfect sense.

1005 - Oh, Rep Amash may be absolutely correct. I'm inclined to say he probably is. But according to CBS News: "At the White House's request, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray also sent a letter to the White House identifying the areas of concern in the Democratic memo." So there's that.

Also, we know that the Democrats utterly and completely overstated the "classified nature" of the Nunes memo before it was released. (Before. Afterward, they called that very same memo a "nothing burger.") Trump's decision may or may not be simply politics, but the Democrats' response is certainly in line with my hypothetical suggestion.

I just reread the last point and it struck me: Why is Pence the one in a "dicey situation"? Shouldn't the pressure all be on the ones who did the torturing?

Hey Spanish Mode of Torture guy: millennials clearly have the ability and discipline to save up $20K for a Down Payment, Barry told us just last month that most of them have over !00K socked away. It must be true.

9:31 During 17 years of war, Republicans passed three tax cuts benefiting the wealthier, has created trillions in debt, adding 1 trillion this year. Debt doesnt matter to either party so spending 100 million on a plane on extra billions on continuing the war in Afghanistan and drone strikes in Pakistan has the support of many Americans.

If every American had to pay more in taxes or choose giving up social security, Medicare, Medicaid or other social programs, support for the war in the middle East started by dick Chaney would end. We didn't learn much from the Vietnam war.

If Paul Ryan has his way, entitlement will be reformed while defense spending and tax cuts to big corporations benefit.

I agree...it's really a lot of work to train a puppy..especially if you are not with it all day. Some are hard to make understand its manners. Best to get them when they have been potty trained by the mom by being with the litter at least 10 weeks. Like babies, it just takes time...it should be settling down to the family routine soon.

Hard to imagine making over $250,000./yr...coming from a woman who her whole life working full time never made more than $50,000. and most of those years was not making even $25,000. More power to the people who can afford those rentals at $2700./month. Hope they save some of those wages because they will need a huge bank account to pay taxes in their old age. But they will do just like we did...live high and end up low.
