Random Friday Morning Thoughts

  • I didn't post a comment about Black Creek K-9 Services and partial ownership yesterday, but I am interested. Can you send me some proof to verify what you tried to post?
  • "U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry said fossil fuels can help prevent sexual assault." Uh, say what?
  • "Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein is joining President Trump on his trip to China." How's that swamp thing working out?
  • In a moment of great comedy, an outgoing Twitter employee shut down Trump's account. It was down a little over 10 minutes.
  • There were actually people upset that the Omni in Dallas payed tribute to the Astros. How could you possibly care?
  • This made my head explode. If a person requests a lawyer, all questioning must end. (It was a concurrence.)
  • An East Texas woman shot and killed her five and seven year old daughters. Historically, it's been hard to convict in cases like this because the mother often suffers from mental illness. I think we all want to believe that is the only way it could happen.
  • Houston ISD is closed today because of an Astros celebration. You kidding me? That puts many parents in a bind with barely little notice.
  • I just learned seconds ago that I know the kid that was killed. I'm sick to my stomach.
  • The new iPhone costs $1,000? Sheesh.

I am shocked that people would pay $1,000 for a phone; until I stop and think there are people that spend $50,000 or $100,000 or more, all in, just to catch fish; or $50,000 just to get married, and so forth. Guy once told me that he thinks only an idiot would spend the best part of a day hitting a little ball into 18 holes. I asked him what he likes to do. Spends a whole week sitting in a tree to shoot an animal he's been feeding all year. Geez.

Did CNN take over this blog? Not a mention of Donna Brazile's comments on Hillary and the DNC rigging the primary's in Hillary's favor! Even Pocahontas had the guts to admit it happened!

Aren't all lawyers dogs?

Nah, that's not fair...to dogs.

Isn't it amazing that a few miserable people sitting around in bathrobes and glued to a computer all day, commenting about things because their lives are so dull and boring...can actually lead to me commenting about you commenting that a few people were upset about a hotel they know nothing about and have never stayed in honoring the Astros? We're ALL completely nuts, and social media is no doubt going to end this nation. It's already well on its way, not to mention how many adults and kids have to die on highways each and every day for the cause of facebook and twitter and text messages.

In a moment of great comedy, an outgoing Donna Brazile's acknowledgement that the DNC tipped the scales in favor of Hillary Clinton during last year's primary, continued to tear the DNC apart.

Sorry to hear about the young man who was killed on 287 this morning. On his facebook page I noticed he has a sweet little cattle dog...Hope the dog was not with him and I hope you will see that the dog has a new home. This breed is a very desirable dog, so will be easy to find a rescue group or new home.

Being a criminal lawyer, you know what others don't, or don't care about until it happens to them: The exceptions to the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th Amendments can sometimes literally swallow the rule.

A friend of mine who has a kid in HISD found out that there was no school when they sent his 4 year-old home with a sticker on his shirt that said "No school tomorrow." HISD is a mess.

Anyone have an over/under on new indictments today?

Regarding the East Texas woman: some folks should never be parents in the first place. Whether it's mental illness or just plain evil, no kids for you. But how do you know ahead of time? By the time society finds out they can't be trusted with kids, it's too late.

Remember, Rick Perry was a Democrat before he decided he was a better fit for the Republicans. Texas Republicans so loved Perry that he was elected to public office, in Texas, for THIRTY YEARS! Yeah, you Republicans actually factually are responsible for that half-wit.

If Rick Perry having a life-long political career doesn't make honest people rethink their lock-step allegiance to a political party, nothing will.

I haven't bought the new iPhone yet because my 6Plus still works just fine, but I wouldn't balk at spending that much for the new one simply because of how much work I do on it, and how much time I spend on it otherwise. It takes the place of so many other things that we used to do differently that it's worth it. Maps, navigation, contacts, internet, shopping, calendar for work and home, reminders for work and home, apps I use for work like billing and document production, you name it. Plus movies and music while traveling, and using it as an actual phone. It may give some people sticker shock, but just try going without one in a modern office/life for a week, and see how much less you get done and how much longer it takes. A $1,000 phone pays for itself in a week in my office.

MzChief never ceases to amaze me. How she can complain about Republican politics, while her politics has directly contributed to their current state, is beyond me.

Wait. No, it's not. She's an idiot.

From what I've observed of MzChief is she's neither Democrat or Republican. She equally hates all stupid politicians. Rage I'm sure you're the one who's an idiot. Get back to work those fries aren't going to cook themselves.

Very few people will plunk down $1000 for the new iPhone because of the monthly charge upgrade plans through their carrier or Apple. Most people doing that would probably find that, through those upgrade plans, they've been paying more than or pretty close to $1000 for their iPhones for quite some time.

Wait a minute...the critique of Miz is not that what she said was inaccurate, but rather, simply, she's an idiot? IF that's the case, then that old saw about the blind squirrel finding the acorn is apt today cuz she NAILED it. Rick Perry is an absolute leach of a public figure. He switched parties around the same time as Phil Graham for the same reason (political survival) and took a government check for three bleeding decades (and he's still cashing one now). Nothing he did as governor made living in Texas any better (though he did try to cash in on the Trans-Texas Corridor, by selling Texans' rights to travel on roads built with state tax monies to a Spanish company). So desperate to be perceived as relevant is this worm of a man that he was willing to show the world how inept he is at dancing by appearing on Dancing with the Stars. Home run Miz.

The new $1000 IPhone is not a phone, nor are any of them. They are tiny handheld computers that can make phone calls as one of their features. Spending $1000 for a computer, as powerful as all of the current smartphones are, is not crazy. Spending that $1000 every year, or twice in some years is a little crazy. Is $1000 too much money for holding in the palm of your hand more technology than we used to send man to the moon and back? (pardon the cliché)

I will pay $1K for an iPhone. I will keep my unlimited data plan and not have a contract. I will use it for years. I currently have a iPhone 5, so obviously I don’t upgrade often. Buy the best with the most memory you can afford and it will last a long time!
My phone is not used much as a phone. Rage is right! It is my office, my photo studio/album, my cookbook, my library, my movie theater, my navigation system...WAY more than a phone. In fact, that is almost incidental.

Along with Wasserman-Shultz, both Podesta brothers, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, all of her legal team that had access to her confidential emails, Huma Weiner, Susan Rice and Lois Lerner."

OK, well, I suppose that's responsive to my over/under question, but, you know, it'd be nice to focus on people actually in office committing multiple crimes, as opposed to someone who was never elected, was investigated for around 25 years, and no crimes were ever found. But you spend your time and anxiety however you want to, I guess.

"Rage, you shouldn't need an I-phone for your job. A deep fryer only has an on off switch and temperature control. Save your money for paper hats."

You'd be surprised how technologically advanced a DQ kitchen can be nowadays.

"Rage, be careful about calling MzChief an idiot. Last week someone lied when they defended you saying that you always never insult anyone."

Yeah, I saw that. In their defense, my insults are all correct, so it could be taken as a statement of fact.

"Wait a minute...the critique of Miz is not that what she said was inaccurate, but rather, simply, she's an idiot?"

No, my critique was that she is a shrill hypocrite who complains about Republican politics, while contributing to its present state of affairs. I think I can speak for the whole blog when I say we'd appreciate it if you'd learn to read.

"IF that's the case, then that old saw about the blind squirrel finding the acorn is apt today cuz she NAILED it."

Perry is an idiot no matter what. Or is MzChief the blind squirrel, meaning you agree with me that she's an idiot? It's often hard to make sense of what you write.

And you should be careful how you predicate your conclusions, because that is "not the case", and using your faulty syllogism, we would then have to assume Perry is not an idiot, and we all know that he is. The fact that MzChief and others are just now realizing it is on them, not me, and if they knew but still voted for them anyway, well, that proves up my idiot/hypocrisy point now, don't it?
