The Campaign For DA

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • With traffic being the nightmare that it is, what time do metroplex high school football teams leave to get on the road? For example, Denton Ryan played Lancaster earlier this year.
  • There used to be a slots at the Bridgeport Post Office for "In Town" and "Out of Town" letters.
  • The second episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm was funny but shocking.
  • I laughed when the Musers of The Ticket were talking about doing errands around the house and you deal with "dirt ladder": You've got a ladder in the garden on soil which is unstable but you do it anyway. I took a heck of a spill a year ago doing that.
  • Sports: (1) The OU/Texas game was fantastic. (2) UT quaterback Sam Ehlinger is a tremendous gamer. But throwing the ball away on 4th down with two minutes left was beyond dumb. If your coach goes for it at that point, it's a message of "if we don't get this we'll lose". And he was right."(3) The color commentator on the UT game knows as much football strategy as The Family Pup. (4) UNT had a heck of comeback win. (5) TCU had a heck of a win. How did Kenny "Thrill" turn his career around? (6) In baseball, Yasiel Puig did one of the craziest things I've ever seen in a playoff game. He took the first pitch without even taking the bat off his shoulder and just glared down the pitcher. Two pitches later he homers. (7) Somehow I watched the last 20 laps of the NASCAR race yesterday which I think took an hour because of all of the wrecks. That's entertaining? I have a great appreciation for Tallegaheda Nights after listening to the driver interviews. (8) I turned in late to the Steelers/Chiefs game which was great except for Tony Romo's over-enthusiasm. Dude, tone it done. (9) The Aaron Rogers season ending injury was a border line dirty hit. He could have pulled up.
  • The Sheriff in Las Vegas is a Drama Queen. In a press conference on Friday he began it with "I'm obviously Sheriff Joseph Lombardo."
  • You know the perfect place for the new Amazon headquarters? A huge piece of property just south of Rhome owned by a Bridgeport oilman. It has a picturesque view and it would be an Amazon advertisement on a busy highway. There would have to be two nice homes that are given up, but I suspect Amazon would compensate them handsomely for it.
  • A judge has been appointed in the very rare "Court of Inquiry" about whether the Waco DA committed perjury in the Twin Peaks Biker cases.
  • Hillary Clinton has a great marriage test in her new book: “There were times that I was deeply unsure about whether our marriage could or should survive…But on those days, I asked myself the questions that mattered to me: Do I still love him? And can I still be in this marriage without becoming unrecognizable to myself . . . ."
  • What you say?
  • Somehow on Sunday morning I stumbled on TV upon FBC Dallas pastor Robert Jefferess private enterpise called "Pathway to Victory." For a "generous" gift, I was told, you could get a copy of his new book. For a donation of at least $75, you could get a DVD set of the series. Snake Oil. No wonder he and Trump are best buddies.
  • There was a police chase that went from Fort Worth to Dallas on Friday over a hot check. You kidding me? You want to potentially cause death over a hot check? You've got the license plate number and pulled up beside the person and can now ID them.

The hypocrisy of evangelicals is they preach forgive and forget, but they criticize Hillary for doing what they preach! Of course that isn't the only hypocritical thing they do.........criticize Weinstein for doing what Trump does!

"... it would be an Amazon advertisement on a busy highway"
For starters, Amazon doesn't need any help with their advertising. Have you looked at the rest of the interwebs lately?
And how many people would drive past their building and think "Ooh, I should go order something from Amazon!"?

If your solution to police chases was that simple, then crooks would start using stolen cars and wear disguises during their getaways

HRC's marriage test might be good for a person who encounters a problem in their marriage. But when you have to ask yourself those same questions over and over (and for the same reason), you're just lying to yourself about the reasons for staying married

I'm looking pretty good right about now....

Ehlinger had his bell rung on the last drive of the TX/ou game. Buechelle came in, made a couple 1st downs, clocked it, and then took a sack. I think a cloudy Ehlinger thought it was 3rd down instead of 4th down when he threw it away. Great game though.

The Sheriff in Las Vegas is a Drama Queen.

The worst mass shooting in US history occurred in his town on his watch. Go f*ck yourself.

Hey Skippy, Stay Woke!! Has trump launched nukes into North Korea yet? Has Trump fired Sessions yet?

I think you and I are the only two people who don't like both Romo and Willett.

You're kidding if you think Amazon will pay a dime for its new place, no matter what's on it. They are going to find a city and state that offers them free land and no taxes for who knows how long. They won't buy out a singl house. Taxpayers will.

Glad to hear TF has everyone else's marriage figured out.

I was recently walking to the car in my local HEB parking lot, when a stolen car zoomed through, chased by three HPD cops. And we're miles from the city limits. The stolen car almost hit an old lady 10 yards in front of me, and the three cops came even closer. Their chase could have easily gotten someone needlessly killed. I don't care if it was a stolen car, a hot check, or anything else. Urban car chases get people killed. They are almost always unjustified, and almost always the result of idiot cops feeling like they are either above the law or have had their fragile ego bruised.

My friends used to mail me letters at:

[first name]'s house
[small town] Texas

Every one got to me.

I believe the chase was over identity theft and passing stolen checks. If Fajita guy gets a sweetheart deal like a former Wise County Auditor did he can come back and run for and be elected commissioner. Lets hope their DA isn't a limp wristed liberal...

"Las Vegas Sheriff is a Drama Queen." Considering the number of press conferences he's done in the past two weeks, it was probably more on the line of, "You people know me by now, but I still have to state my name for the record."
"$1.2 mil in fajitas" ...that's a lot of fajitas!
"Hillary's marriage test" She should've asked the same things about the Obama administration and her run for office.

How's the BPort quarterback? He got his bell rung Friday night. The Graham player was removed from the game.

Taking marriage advice from Hillary is rich. Like Limbaugh said, Harvey Weinstein should hire her to destroy all of his accusers.

Amazon would be foolish to be anywhere that Rhome could annex them.

Pardon me if I don't take marriage advice from Hillary. (Insert sarcasm here)

Friday car chase. Whole lot more to it than a hot check. Maybe someone will dig a little deeper.

This science experiment is getting old.

Anonymous said...

Thought the chase was rather well conducted myself.
You don't know all the extenuating circumstances that were involved to keep the chase going. Besides, I don't think traffic got to the point that it needed to be called off. Police kept a far distance for much of the pursuit. I just think you don't like the police.

With the upsurge in football injuries, I suggest a different penalty system. Instead of yardage and possible loss of down, how about awarding actual points to the other team?

broken limb - 14 points
concussion - 21 points
actual dislocation of joint - 24 points
death - 36 points

What do you think?

Skippy, with all due respect, if you're reading a Hilary Clinton book for marriage tips, your marriage might be in trouble...

11:56--I didn't see where she gave anyone advice. Just said what she did and why.

Not sure why you'd have a problem with that, unless you're feeling guilty. Or maybe your baby has the milkman's eyes.

Hillary's opinion on ANYTHING is not relevant.

You're slacking again. Don't you have a client to take advantage of?

Amazon could buy up the town of Justin and probably pay less than the ranch outside of Rhome. Plus it would be next to Alliance airport and I35. Think outside the box for once Skippy.

Police found 9 fake license plates.. multiple IDs.. and forgery "instruments".. in the SUV she was driving. Doubt they would have found her if they let her go.... but agree you shouldn't risk lives over this.. even though she can potentially ruin random people financially.
