The Campaign For DA

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • A federal judge has dismissed Sarah Palin's lawsuit against the New York Times. If you don't understand "reckless disregard for the truth" vs. "negligence" in the area of libel, you don't need to be commenting on it.
  • I can't think of anything more painful than Larry The Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy together. They call the show the "Backyard Barbecue." This news is the only good thing that Harvey has brought to the State of Texas. (Although it's hard to understand how Hurricane Harvey has anything to do with this.)
  • Justice Don Willett, the "aww shucks" tweeting Texas Supreme Court judge, thought it would be a good idea to do "water comedy" late yesterday as Texas was suffering from disasterous flooding at that very moment. He is up for election next year.
  • In other parts of Texas at the same time:

  • I've never been to a Texas high school volleyball game but have seen some videos. The level of talent and excitement seems really cool. (Although I can never get use to the term "kills" when describing scores.)
  • The First Lady did in fact remove her six inch stilettos before arriving in Texas. But she did put on a "FLOTUS" hat. Read that term out loud. Think about why they were visiting.
  • The photo below is of a new generation Bentley. I'll swear that Mrs. LL and I saw a Rolls Royce on 114 right outside of Trophy Club that looked just like it. It caught her attention as she said, "That's a cool car!" (She never mentions cars.)
  • We had a doggie emergency in the house last night. Family Pup #2 start shaking and panting uncontrollably and would not stop. Mrs. LL took her to the vet, and he diagnosed it as her teeth were decaying, causing pain, and she was going into panic attacks. This will cost me to fix it. I'll pay it.
  • I appreciate anyone who donates to great causes (like Harvey relief). I don't appreciate people bragging about it. When you pray, you go into your closet and pray alone.
  • I get complaints that Liberally Lean isn't as "fun" or "light hearted" as it used to be. Watching Idiocracy in this country unfold right before your eyes will do that to you.

Becoming a bitter old man will do that for you.

As a public figure who could be criticized for NOT donating, I'll forgive Bryant's $50,000 brag.

If a private figure, I can see where it'd be tasteless.

I agree with you totally in regards to the donations. I always question the motive when I hear of a celebrity or athlete who donates a bunch of money to something, but then runs to the media to make sure it is publicized. I understand that sometimes the word gets out by other methods, but I feel it is more like a publicity stunt if the celebrity (or their staff) put it out there.

How much you want to bet that the FLOTUS hat ends up on his campaign website. He's still just doing product placement.

Dude, we had to endure 8 years of idiocracy with Obama.

No mention that CNN reported Osteen opened his church doors yesterday? The first floor parts are flooded and they finally have a way to get to the second floor.

The 23 celebrities that said they were leavening USA if Trump became president still live here!

So why haven't they helped with the hurricane disaster???

What has Katy Perry done to help? Oh, I get it, they are helping in secret........shhhh....

Yep, and that's what made your old blog valuable. And not just another political rant like the other billion blogs out there.

All the Trump supporters who comment here are just salty that he's so unpopular.

Decatur FBC should house the displaced,as well as the civic center.

I don't think announcing your donations is always "bragging." It might be an effort to motivate others to also give.

Barry was happy and light hearted when the Left seemed to be on its way to total domination.

Triple Fake... said...

folks are deflecting off the footwear non-issue to the headwear non-issue. It would be a problem only if Trump wore a hat that identified him as CinCUS.

I fail to see the connection between donating money and praying. Didn't JJ Watt go public with his donation, encouraging others to follow his lead?

Mssrs. Foxworthy and Cable Guy perform what is commonly known as comedy. It is a highly subjective form of entertainment. Attendance is not mandatory. Any pain inflicted would occur only if one were to actually attend a performance, watch it on TV or some other video platform, hear it on radio, or read a transcript of it.

"I can't think of anything more painful than Larry The Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy together."

Snob.

I agree with your point about donations, but, for public figures, the ones that have some serious coin to throw around, I'm all for it. Sure, a lot of them do it for the notoriety, but that just encourages more of them to make those 5 and 6 figure donations. And that's where he big money is.

The vitriolic spewing of the majority of your commenters is downright deplorable. I'm ashamed and alarmed that many of these animals probably live near me.

Willet, FLOTUS -- you're really straining to find some false outrage today.

wordkyle said...

BG, your not being "fun" or "lighthearted" isn't the problem. Look at your remark about the First Lady's hat, and see if it strikes you now, a few hours after you wrote it, as particularly insightful or even reasonable.

Hey Skippy, Stay Woke!! Has Trump launched nukes into North Korea yet? Has Trump fired Sessions yet?

Anonymous said...

"I can't think of anything more painful than Larry The Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy together."

Try imagining Rosie ODonnell and Roseann Barr together.

Anonymous said...

Skippy, why don't you comment on the positive job and GDP numbers under the Trump administration?

Anonymous said...

Barry doesn't like corrupt institutions being exposed to the light. Barry prefers his corruption to be under the table out of sight

What day of the month does your government check arrive?

Just a heads up. The word "deplorable" is out of style.

Try to keep up.

Even a high school intern, working for the first lady, would have the awareness to say "hey...is that hat a good idea?"...where the heck is the staff? The public relations experts that get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars per year? The media-savvy whiz kids that handle the optics? Maybe Trump needs to hire the folks who give out all the hats and bottles of Coca Cola in victory lane at Nascar races...at least they have a good sense for who's watching and the idea of "you only had one job"...geez. Mr. Greene good call out on that hat.

Barry's performance review feedback is enlightening.....probably only to me

SpanishWarDonkey said...

Because WK already told us they are skewed due to the way they are determined. I imagine, BG, being the stand up dude that he is, simply decided he wouldn't comment on them anymore.

Harry Hamid said...

There's no "equal time " requirement when it's your blog.

It makes sense to me that if you oppose the Administration, you'd comment on it, and more often if you believe things are critical.

You wouldn't expect evenhandedness out of a fan of a football team, a side during a war, or even a family member going through a divorce.

9:52; you ruined my morning...

Anonymous said...

A weak term in the DA's office, and failing to win the election again will make you bitters.

Anonymous said...

Why do you need to go into a closet to pray, that's just weird. I just pray in my bedroom, in my car, or in church usually.

I'm always suspicious of people who get on public figures for doing charitable work or making donations. They are wealthy and in the public eye, damned if they do damned if they don't. It makes me believe this is just BG's cover for not donating and not praying.

Anonymous said...

The problem is that Barry picks things like the FLOTUS cap to mix in with legitimate criticisms. He genuinely thinks the FLOTUS cap is an issue. When he brings up this nonsense, it dilutes his valid criticisms. Speaking of Idiocracy BG, can you name 1 way in which Barry Green's life has changed for the worse with Trump in office? And I mean your life specifically without bringing in your feelings. I don't want to hear about how anxious you are. Concrete negative changes?

Anonymous said...

this comment is lame. really? You are alarmed?? Animals? Really?
so fake too because you sound like a lib, and the vitriol you speak of is 85% coming from the Left side trolls......

I am not a follower of Osteen, but I feel the need to point this out, since you wont:

Contrary to rumors online, Iloff said, Lakewood was not “closed”—it simply had not opened as a formal shelter, in large part because the city had not asked them to do so as part of its extensive preparation for the hurricane. Six or eight staff members had remained on site during the flood, and they had been instructed to open the doors to anyone who needed help. “We are open,” Iloff said. “Anyone who comes there, we’ll let in.”

So basically, the FAKE NEWS created a rumor that likely turned away people seeking shelter there at some point. Those lies didn't help your fellow Texans.

I'm glad for one thing, that Barry now understands the pain and anger we felt when Obama was president. Then he called us angry old white people, but now just look at the hardness of heart he shows. He chastised the pettiness against Obama but now readily takes part in a pettiness more absurd and more unhinged. He is no better than the nuts who wished Obama harm, or refused to send aid north to Sandy.

I can just feel him giggling under his breath about how Harvey is ravaging a large swath of Trump country. He has shown nothing about any care or concern for those people, only chomping at the bit to criticize Trump's response. That's right folks, he prioritizes political gain over pain and suffering. The last few days of random thoughts are a clear indication of where his priorities and empathy lay, and that is definitely not with the people of Houston.

Anonymous said...

Damn, Barry! You have some real buttholes for enemies. I can't believe you are fair enough to let some of this shit on to your blog. It must be a struggle...

Hang in there.

New name for BG - Puddle. The snowflake has melted.
You've become a total bore with your daily tantrum.
Even if Trump was the fool that you all make him out to be, he will be gone eventually. You morons act like its the end of the world. It's not, case in point, OBAMA!

Grow up Puddle!

I'm still amazed by the liberal unity behind the sentiment that Harvey was Texas's comeuppance for voting Trump.

wordkyle said...

Is that what I told you?

Anonymous said...

Spanish Jackass, I'm sure that's the reason Skippy doesn't comment on it. I know it's not because Trump is the reason the numbers are good and he hasan R by his name. Under Obammy, every time the numbers came out they were always revised downward.

So, some employees at a Best Buy in Houston decide, in order to make water more visibly available to customers, trying to be helpful, that since the price for individual bottles of water at Best Buy is $1.79; available in the one or two coolers that best buy has with water, sodas and tea...and there are 24 to a case, to print a small sign with a price of $42.96 per case. So now Best Buy has a public relations nightmare on its hands when social media catches fire and reports Best Buy is price gouging. Ridiculous. If Best Buy instead would have opened up all those cases and put individual bottles of water at the front of the store at regular price...not a peep from anyone. At what point will bloggers and tweeters be held financially or criminally liable for damages caused by plain lies?

1) I can't believe the ignorance/stupidity of the people on here regarding Barry's reference to praying in your closet;

2) Whether TROLLS or sincere, I can't believe the people on here who actually don't know the difference between the reporting of legitimate/substantiated events & happenings vs the propaganda/lies espoused on Facebook/Twitter/etc.

3) There will come a time when the GOPtard Trumpites regret what they helped bring to power, even though they wont have the intelligence to recognize it or the courage &/or guts to admit it.

So, I understand, but I still hate you, in traffic. If I don't own the car that's on fire in the left lane I really, really can and gladly will drive by it without looking. If you could just see your way to doing the same....

Thanks

Hundreds and hundreds of small boats pulled by countless pickups and SUVs from across the South are headed for Houston. Almost all of them driven by men. They're using their own property, sacrificing their own time, spending their own money, and risking their own lives for one reason: to help total strangers in desperate need.
Most of them are by themselves. Most are dressed like the redneck duck hunters and bass fisherman they are. Many are veterans. Most are wearing well-used gimme-hats, t-shirts, and jeans; and there's a preponderance of camo. Most are probably gun owners, and most probably voted for Trump.
These are the people the Left loves to hate. These are The Quiet Ones. They don't wear masks and tear down statues. They don't, as a rule, march and demonstrate. And most have probably never been in a Whole Foods.
But they'll spend the next several days wading in cold, dirty water; dodging gators and water moccasins and fire ants; eating whatever meager rations are available; and sleeping wherever they can in dirty, damp clothes. Their reward is the tears and the hugs and the smiles from the terrified people they help. They'll deliver one boatload, and then go back for more.
When disaster strikes, it's what men do. Heroic men. American men.
And the next time they hear someone talk about "the patriarchy", or "male privilege", they'll snort, turn off the TV and go to bed.
In the meantime, they'll likely be up again before dawn. To do it again. Until the helpless are rescued. And the work's done.
They're unlikely to be reimbursed. There won't be medals. They won't care. They're heroes. And it's what heroes do.
