Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Kind of reminds me of Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now:
  • When you can't have a "flaming cocktail" in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon in Highland Park without being badly burned.
  • Gov. Greg Abbott will seek re-election which caused me to realize I actually miss Rick Perry. Abbott, who has lived his life off of a lawsuit and tax dollars, is the worst panderer to Texans in my lifetime.
  • Mrs. LL has discovered Blue Apron which pretty much means I've discovered Blue Apron.
  • Man, there is a lot of "Whataboutism" going on by the Right these days.
  • There was quite the heated debate between two people in the comments yesterday. The most fascinating comment was from a Trump defender who made it clear it's not about Trump. Basically, he didn't like the direction the country had been going and his only goal was to protect his family and his family's future. Because of that, he didn't care what Trump did, even if illegal, so long as he can fulfill that dream. It was incredibly honest. And, although also incredibly shocking, I respect that more than trying to justify the current and future Trump scandals.
  • I bet there are a ton of people who believe like the commentor does. Trump's approval rating is around 39% and I doubt it will ever be lower that that because 39% of the country probably feel that way. Even moreso around here.
  • Someone asked me this at the courthouse: She changed home insurance coverage and her old company sent her a check for about $750 in unused (?) premiums which someone told her to apply it to her escrow account on her next mortgage payment. I told her I agreed and gave her an explanation as to why. But now I'm not exactly sure I truly understand all of the accounting. Someone explain this.
  • Missed this: The song "Make America Great Again" was performed by musicians from First Baptist Church of Dallas.
  • San Francisco cop pushes downhill skater boy into cop car. (I've watched this video 100 times. The thud, the guy yelling "ooooh",  and the other skateboarder in the foreground hitting the pavement are nice touches.)
  • I finally had to graph out all the players in Game of Thrones since it is so confusing.
  • I'm sure there's nothing to worry about Antarctic breaking up:

Barry happily ignored all of Obama's scandals because he agreed with his agenda. Destruction of the West.

Trump has no scandals. It's all fake news. Sad. We're winning. Beautiful.

All Trump all the time. Fake news you are.

Plated is better, overall, than Blue Apron.

@9:07

I agree. Barry is guilty of the exact thing he is accusing Republicans of doing.

Perspective.

Hint for all those who suddenly find themselves having Blue Apron or Plated or other delivered meals. Roll with it. Food's pretty good, and it seems to be refreshing for the person in the home responsible for the meals to be able try new things and get a break from the normal same old same old.

Antarctica is not breaking up. It's the equivalent of one brick, after a thousand years, finally working loose from a two-story brick home.

I will never be able to unsee that. You have put a curse on my favorite film.

Trumpers saying that if the ends justify the means, then laws or rules or oaths don't matter. Well, doesn't that give a whole new perspective to the Law & Order Republican Party. Rest of us are doing our best to follow the rulebook while certain Trumpers are saying that the rulebook can take a flying leap. Probably means our Founding Fathers didn't need to take so much time with the Constitution. It is obviously every man for himself.

Imagine if Al Gore and social media and satellite observations and all of today's technology would have been available and used back when the glaciers were retreating and forming the Great Lakes during that massive period of global warming. Or when Africa and South America disconnected and began to drift apart. The planet has been doing major S*$#! all by itself ever since it was a molten blob. "Saving the planet" is one of the most ridiculous concepts to ever exist. Only humans could be so arrogant as to think for one fraction of a nanosecond that we have anything to do with how long this planet is around. If the time earth has been in existence was represented by the length of a football field, the time we "planet destroyers" have been doing our damage would be represented by the width of a human hair on that whole field.

Oh, Antarctica is breaking up, and somehow, Yoko is responsible!
But we'll always have their cover versions of popular songs:
Ice Ice Baby

Tenth Avenue Freeze-out
Breaking Up is Hard To Do

What you should be concerned about is this news:
Fat Joe left Atlantic!

Okay Trump Believers. Just take the next step. You know you want to. Start building the Internment Camps for all the folks you hate and fear (liberals at the top of the list?). Shoot the next person who pulls into the parking space you wanted at Wal-Mart. Start wearing those nifty brown shirts with the MAGA logo and riding boots & saddle pants & Sam Brown belts. Stop paying those pesky taxes, but scream loudly when your Social Security doesn't arrive on time. Shut down public schools because all the kids really need for learning is the King James Bible. Go ahead. You start trembling with happy anticipation when you think of the despotic possibilities.

All the libs on here seem to think the conservatives want to ignore the rules. Look at the rules. There were no broken rules to hat Trump has done. You are just trying to press your lack of morality onto everyone else.

It's called projecting. You do it all the time and fail to see when you are doing exactly what you are accusing everyone else of ding.

Doesn't make it right, just be consistent.

In the long run, it's bad for the Republican party to support Trump- no matter what. Trump is instant gratification, but his presidency is harmful in the long run. Trump undermines the conservative movement. The Republican party controls both houses of congress and the white house: Where's the tax reform, where's the infrastructure improvements, where's the health care bill? Where's the balanced budgets? They only way to expand the movement is to govern and prove these policies are good for the country.

The level of chaos via the Trump white house means that nothing is going to get accomplished. It's sad to me. This is a huge opportunity. I do not respect anyone that supports Trump while ignoring what's best for the country.

The picture of Obammy and Putin on the Drudgereport should shut up all of you weenie snowflakes but I'm sure it won't. We need an investigation into why Lynch let this lawyer in the country without a working visa. And why she didn't recuse her self after Willie Clinton talked to her on her private plane. And on and on......

To your question...Homeowners insurance and property taxes are paid out of your escrow account which you contribute to each month. They are both paid in full at the time in which the respective bills are due. When you get an insurance refund after switching mid year/contract, it is money that should go back into your escrow account to restore the amount that was just taken out for your new insurance carrier. Otherwise, when your mortgage company does their annual mortgage/escrow assessment, they will see a shortfall (with rising property taxes, you probably will anyway) and they will increase your monthly payment to cover /recoup the shortfall.

TrumperNutters don't have to come here to read BG's comments and get all hot and bothered. There are plenty of blogs that would make cons happy and feeling good without getting upset. It would be more healthy.

"Only humans could be so arrogant as to think for one fraction of a nanosecond that we have anything to do with how long this planet is around."

Hey genius--the issue is not how long this rock will be circling the sun. The issue is how long it will be sustainable for humans.

With climate change will come more war than you have ever seen. When resources get scarce, and refugees increase by the tens of millions, we'll be fighting for every square inch of dry land and every drop of fresh water. And when the oceans change so much that fish populations are endangered, the millions more who depend on them will fight for the food that the rest of us can grow.

Ignore this long enough and that's where we'll be, as the earth continues on with or without us.

Where have any of you liberals seen any conservative wanting to lock people up. Just because I don't want to financially support some deviant lifestyle through government handouts of my tax dollars, does not mean I want to "lock them up". You guys are the ones that want to imprison, shut down or lock up your opponents.

Remember the World War II internment camps? Democrats were in charge.

I made the comment yesterday about protecting my family, it was honest and true. But don't pretend I don't understand the liberal worldview that we should care about everyone, the common good and such, I just don't believe down deep it is true. You all think just like I do but you won't admit it. You want politics and politicians that affirm your worldview but you and your politicians never do anything for anybody, it's all feel good lip service. Its politics of emotion but rarely politics of action.

Barry, I've been a long reader and sometime commenter. I formerly lived in Wise Co but escaped a few years ago - thankfully! Elsewhere the provincial ignorance still exists but is better offset with reasonable intelligence. The blind, factless ranters on here reinforce each other but I can only hope the more sane elements in the country will ultimately prevail.

We've had our chance to enjoy our lives, I hope there's something left for our children and grandchildren.

I saw a program about Russia and the global warming hoax. They are welcoming global warming. Siberia will now be habitable. The northern shipping lanes will now be open year round.

And oh yea. US pays for all of it. They want US to keep paying so they can pollute more for free. Of course they wanted Hillary to win. She would have continued the economic hamstringing of US (all of us).

What is wrong with longer growing seasons? More lush vegetation world wide?

Is it so hard to see that colleges have changed over time? Plus there are still individuals with a strong enough foundation to go for the education and see through the liberal slant.

Prager is 68 btw, I'm sure Columbia is exactly the same now as it was when he attended!

Oh...yes they did.

Prager graduated from college, meaning he went thru the liberal doctrine himself.

So Prager's point conflicts with his own experience.
