- As you know by now, the south part of Runaway Bay got pummeled by a tornado on Saturday night. More photos here and here. Drone video here.
- I was watching the YouTube stream of David Reimer while the storm went through. Let me tell you something, this guy is good. He noticed the Bay tornado form after you would have thought they were all clear, and couldn't believe what he was seeing. I've got the video cued up at 8:57 p.m. when he first sees something.
- This was the hail at the bay about 30 minutes before the tornado hit.
- And while the tornado was ongoing, we had chaos at the White House Correspondence Dinner.
- He really didn't get all that far in, and the amazing thing is that he wasn't shot and killed.
- I think it's weird that Trump was the first one to post the security camera footage. Side note: The would-be shooter is fast.
- He once demo'd a prototype for an emergency brake for wheel chairs when he was at Cal Tech.
- An unfortunate use of a phrase by the press secretary before the dinner.
- As the secret service was getting Trump off stage, he fell to the floor. But Trump couldn't even tell the truth about that last night on 60 Minutes:
- The Tanner Horner trial continued last Friday and, whatever the defense strategy is, they better get to it. The Friday witnesses didn't move the needle at all:
- "A retired in-home facilitator and speech pathologist who worked with Tanner Horner when he was in school in Azle ISD" was the first to testify. Her face was blurred for the live stream, and that's a good thing for her because she was one wheels off witness. And for some reason she tried to inject humor into the trial when no one is in the mood for laughing.
- Neuroscientist Dr. Jeffrey David Lewine testified, but I'm not sure anyone listened.
- Likewise for Dr. Erin Bigler, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at BYU. The only thing I remember is when he said he had been paid $40,000 in the case.
- Metroplex tidbit that didn't make any of the newscasts:
- We've still got a war with Iran going on and a closed Strait of Hormuz. On Saturday, Trump cancelled sending his two real estate guys to negotiate in Pakistan once Iran said there was nothing to talk about.
- A Texas law allowing Texas cops to become immigration agents was "upheld" on Friday. Kind of. "In a 10-to-7 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that the plaintiffs lacked standing to challenge the law." So instead of having to face the issue of an obviously unconstitutional law, they simply dodged the issue.
- And do you think that the majority is a little pre-disposed to have the government win when they start off the opinion like this:
- Honestly, that's probably more humane than lethal injection.
- Under two hours for the first time in history. .
- We still don't know who took this photo. The only source was a post by Trump who didn't credit any photographer:
