It's Friday Let's Get Out of Here

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

This was written a few days after the first debate. It still holds up, because Trump's alure really was, and still is, as simple as that. Just replace "political correctness" with "woke."

  • Trump is in the air on his way to Alaska to meet with Putin to either (1) tell Putin the war must end or (2) divvy up Ukraine.

    • Fun fact: On average, that's a seven hour flight.
  • In a matter of six short months, we have normalized sending troops into American cities.

  • There's a weird border-line tropical storm, with an even weirder name of "Invest 98-L", which has quickly formed in the Gulf of Mexico.

  • After the Sandwich Throwing Incident, Pam Bondi has a message for all the potential evil-doers out there . . .

    • . . . except, you know, these guys.

  • More concentration camps.

  • Totally normal in a democracy.

  • This isn't exactly the Republican limited-government party I grew up with.

  • Get your bids in.  It didn't sell at it's list price of $27.5 million.

  • First poll we've seen which doesn't have Paxton leading bigly.

  • The Business Second™.

  • Legal stuff: Tough sanctions for using A.I. in federal court.
  • Lauren Whitener Clock: 6 years and 42 days.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

A teen was damaging cars in an auto dealership when he he was shot and killed by police. This was a big deal in the metroplex and even made national news. But a grand jury would ultimately no bill the officer. The City of Arlington settled a civil case for $850,000.

  •  Leander ISD. Forty kids were on board.

  • My super secret sources tell me that there were multiple witnesses to the shooting of a homeless man in broad daylight on Saturday in Denton.  And a medical examiner's report yesterday said the man died from "multiple" gun shot wounds.  I bet this gets messy.

  • Police finally release a photo of the guy who shot up the CDC offices in Georgia last week that left one officer dead. "Patrick Joseph White fired nearly 500 rounds during the shooting,"

  • Putin and Trump will meet tomorrow in Alaska.  But here's some big news this morning: "The Kremlin says Trump and Putin will hold a joint press conference after their meeting in Alaska." And the White House just confirmed it.  The last time that happened was in Helsinki in 2016, and it did not go well.

  • The guy named chief of the Bureau of Labor Statistics to report numbers that Trump likes was hanging out in a crowd of Insurrectionists on January 6th.

  • Uh, oh. This news this morning might get someone else fired.

  • Last night in Washington D.C.:

  • The sandwich heard 'round the world. Video.

  • Good news for you.

  • I'm always suspect of these numbers, but they are probably close.

  • The great Steve Martin turns 80 today.
  • Messenger - Above the Fold

  • A guy in Anna was arrested for stealing from newly constructed homes. In his vehicle was 288 electrical breakers.

  • We have a few more details of the shooting in Austin at Target. One of the victim's was a 4 year old.  The shooter is, literally, crazy.

  • Here's a detailed post of what's going on in this Tarrant County case described below.

  • I went nuts over this DA at the time when filed murder charges back when none of the statutes even arguably allowed it.  He dismissed the case once he figured it all out. But, man, is he ever in the news again (h/t @dejonredd)

  • That little girl was pretty funny on that show back in the day.

  • The OU Quarterback faces questions about betting on college football when his Venmo payment messages were found.
