It's Friday -- Let's Get Out of Here

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

That "court" was the Fifth Circuit.  Oh, have things have changed in 10 years.

  • In case you are missing a Fed Ex package, this might be a clue:

  • And TWU's new admin building almost went up in flames.

  • A 10 foot alligator was found in Eagle Mountain Lake.

  • I'm not sure the Olympian didn't also punch her boyfriend at the 11 second mark.

  • Yesterday in authoritarianism -- none of this is normal:
    • Just the President trying to control a private company.

    • I'm telling you, January 6th is going to be a national holiday by the time Trump is done with it.

    • The federal government has no jurisdiction but that doesn't seem to matter.

    • Just making up charts and numbers to prove the economy is great. The video is like a SNL skit.

  • Trump's deadline for Russia to stop bombing Ukraine or face sanctions is today.
    • Yesterday:

    • Last night:

  • Business Second™: They put a little pizzazz into an otherwise boring bankruptcy story.

  • Lauren Whitener Clock: 6 years and 35 days.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

My reaction to Trump's first debate.

  • Man, this vehicle with the Wise County Sheriff's marking on it sure did make the rounds on social media yesterday.

    • But the WCSO didn't buy it. It's just on loan from the guy in the 3%er shirt.

      • And we have a spelling error.

  • Bad day for the military.
    • Fort Stewart:

    • Fort Bliss:

  • He still hasn't figured out how to handle the Epstein situation. Video.

  • They aren't even trying to hide it.

  • We just accept this as normal now.  Rounding up dayworkers in a Home Depot parking lot and justifying it by calling them MS-13.

  • Oh, no.

  • Who could have predicted that appointing a crazy anti-vaxxer would have lead to the death of COVID vaccine? "After reviewing the science and consulting top experts at NIH and FDA, HHS has determined that mRNA technology poses more risk than benefits against these respiratory viruses."  - Robert Kennedy.

    • Trump used to so proud of Operation Warp Speed.

  • They just accidentally deleted that provision of the Constitution that protects the use of  habeas corpus.

  • This would be dumb even by Trump's standards.

  • Nancy Mace has decided to run for Governor of South Carolina. That's a heck of a platform.

  • The federal PACER system was compromised.

  • Messenger - Above the Fold

Random Wednesday Morning thoughts

A newspaper's next morning reaction after Trump's first presidential debate.

  • The Wise County Courthouse restoration project continues, and yesterday they were working on the clock faces while suspended by ropes.

  • Abbott attempted to invoke the Texas Supreme Court's original jurisdiction last night in order to have the leader of the absent democrats thrown out of office. (Five of the nine judges on the court were appointed by Abbott.) A response i is now due by Friday at 5:00 p.m.

    • AG Ken Paxton, never to miss a chance to make a headline, entered the fray with a "Hey, only I can do that!" type of letter.

    • And Sen. John Cornyn, who has lost his mind of late in suddenly trying to become MAGA, wants the FBI to arrest the Democrats even though they have no authority to do so.

  • I'm a little confused about what the event described in this story.is supposed to be.

  • DOGE's "Bill Balls" allegedly got beat up so Trump wants to take over the D.C. local government.

  • Of course.

  • The New York Times published new pictures of Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan mansion.  (Gift link.)

    • They should just decide to bring in a crisis manager because they don't know what they are doing.

  • Translated: Blacks won't work in the fields, but those Hispanics will because it's just part of their nature. Good gawd. Video.

  • The NFL now owns a part of ESPN. If you thought ESPN was already a propaganda arm of the league, just wait.

  • Job Opportunity: Are you a senior citizen looking for work? Kristi Noem announced this morning on Fox News that ICE was repealing its age limits.
