Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

Trump was finally hitting his stride in his presidential campaign.

  • Wise County Judge JDC hung out with RJK, Jr.!   If they didn't swim together later with their jeans on, I'll be very disappointed.

  • And the government says that is a deal breaker? (Anthropic's flagship product line is the AI based "Claude.")

  • I'm beginning to feel like stuff like this happen every day.

  • Before the State of the Union address, Ken Paxton became very uncomfortable when asked about the rep who allegedly had an affair. Video.

    • Paxton was the guest of Rep. Troy Nehls who wore a tie with Trump's picture on it.

  • At the State of the Union, Chief Justice John Roberts was all of us.

  • Nothing moves the needle any longer.

  • There is now a spotlight on the insane banner of Trump hanging on the Department of Justice.

  • Sports:
    • "Aubrey, a restricted free agent, was offered a deal with an average salary of close to $7.5 million but is looking for nearly $10 million per season."  Be careful there, buddy.

    • That's a good bit.

  • It's Supreme Court opinion day. Normally just boring stuff is released this time of year, but then came the tariff opinion last Friday.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

It was a different time.

  • Dateline: Commerce, Texas. I was curious about label on the bottle of her homemade bomb since it seemed unusual.  I clicked on the story link and found this caption under the photo: "Molotov cocktails sits inside the barricade which surrounds the Donetsk Regional Administration building on April 18, 2014 in Donetsk, Ukraine (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)." Yep, it was just a stock photo.

  • I'm surprised that place rejected it.

  • "ARLINGTON, Texas — A three-alarm apartment fire damaged 16 units of a residential building Monday afternoon, displacing 25 people, including five children, the Arlington Fire Department said. Firefighters were called at 1:34 p.m. after reports of a fire at the Oak Chase Apartments building."

  • This is getting so messy that they can't even add to the headline that the staff member later killed herself.

  • Wichita Falls has an opening in law enforcement.

  • Trump said yesterday: "It's going to be a long speech. Because we have a lot to talk about."

  • That decision is pretty easy, even for her, once a grand jury unanimously rejected her request for indictments in the case.  It's still shockingly insane that the government even attempted to criminally prosecute these senators.

  • Lewis from Revenge of the Nerds. "His manager and brother Keith Carradine said in a statement Tuesday to NBC News that the actor had 'succumbed to bipolar disorder after fighting it for almost 20 years.'”

  • Random and confusing Trump tweet where he sounded like a character from Bring It On. "It has already been gotten . . . ."

  • KERA does a really good job of covering this case. The judge picked a jury yesterday after last week's trial ended abruptly with a mistrial.

  • Wise County state rep Andy Hopper has filed his most recent campaign report. Top Donors:

  • "BREAKING: Savannah Guthrie posts a new video, saying the family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for the recovery of their mother Nancy."

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

And there would be no hearings on confirmations in the 10 months that followed.

  • A police chase out of Wise County ended up with an arrest near downtown Fort Worth Friday night. (Facebook source.)

  • A Texas Tech business professor, Daniel Taylor, 50, was charged by the feds with a fentanyl distribution conspiracy on Friday.

  • Dateline Itasca.

  • Not only is he mayor, he is also the assistant superintendent of Hitchcock ISD. This is all over a  "gaming room" allegation.

  • Things got a little dicey in Mexico yesterday, especially in Puerto Vallarta, after a major cartel leader was killed.

  • A 21 year old was shot dead at Mar-A-Lago over the weekend.

    • Kash Patel was not involved in the investigation - he was busy.

  • ICE killed someone a year ago in South Padre Island, and we are just now learning about it.

  • The big news on Friday was the Supreme Court striking down Trump's tariff's. Trump, as expected, was very angry and held a one hour press conference immediately afterwards.  Highlights:

    • "It's my opinion that the Court has been swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think."
    • "I don't want to say whether or not I regret [appointing Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch]. I think their decision was terrible. Yeah. I think it's an embarrassment to their families, you want to know the truth, the two of them. Yeah.
    •  "I read the paragraphs. I read very well. Great comprehension. I read everything there was to read and I said, 'We can't lose this case.'"
  • No one quite understood this action by Trump over the weekend.

  • Age 25.

  • The U.S. hockey team won gold.
    • This is how New York prepared for the game.

    • Let's check in on Rep. Ronny Jackson's post game reaction.

  • Very nerdy legal stuff: “Only a lawyer could fail to appreciate the decisive clarity of so simple and useful a word as “no.”” - from a concurrence released on Friday by the Texas Supreme Court.
