- The Fort Worth Fire Department had a heck of time putting out an apartment complex fire yesterday. They were there all day and into the night. It opened in 2020.

It was a big week in the Supreme Court with Obamacare surviving a challenge with a decision delivered on a Thursday, and gay marriage becoming legal on Friday. And it was about the last time we ever saw the "running of the interns" as the media adapted to getting the decisions almost instantaneously online.
- Trump: “Completely and totally obliterated” and "Now is the time for peace." (I honestly didn't think he'd do it. )
- Well, maybe not "completely and totally obliterated."
- And I wouldn't be betting on peace either.
- Most awkward part of Trump's address after the airstrikes:
- I'm a little worried about their decision making process. On Friday evening, Trump was busy issuing three very long and unhinged tirades about a FOX News commentator, Chair of the Federal Reserve, and not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. And the Secretary of Defense was smashing watermelons on the ground during the day.
- But at least everyone was on same page and focused on Sunday. This bombing was just a "one off" and not a call for a "regime change" in Iran, right?
- Secreatary of Defense Pete Hegseth at an 8:00 a.m. news conference: "This mission was not and has not been about regime change."
- VP J.D. Vance on Meet the Press later that morning: "Our view has been very clear that we don't want a regime change"
- And then Trump, that afternoon, went full "MIGA". Yes, "MIGA."
- So what happens now? God help us all.
- Right at last night's deadline to do so, Gov. Abbott vetoed the complete THC ban championed by Lt. Dan Patrick (and the alcohol and pharmaceutical lobby).
- Wise County news: On Friday, the Fifth Circuit reversed the criminal conviction of local doctor Brian Carpenter. (PDF). Why? In the middle of trial, one of the jurors, who was a teacher, was excused by the judge because her principal had sent an email to the court saying she was needed for STAAR testing preparation. She hadn't even asked to be excused. (h/t Paul Belew.)
- The Fifth Circuit on Friday also killed a Louisiana law which is exactly like the one Texas just passed. (PDF)
- And in all of this, buried in the news is what might be the biggest news of all: Trump told his Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to seek criminal convictions for the "stolen" 2020 election. It's over.
- I haven't seen this on any of the local news stations, but that Twitter account is normally pretty reliable. Still, that's odd because the six second video of it is insane.
- Two men drowned at Joe Pool lake this weekend, one paddleboarding and one "swimming off of a boat", and another man is missing after kayaking at Lake Lavon.
- Eight were killed Saturday in a hot air balloon accident in Brazil. Like everything else these days, it was caught on video. The most amazing thing is that 13 passengers survived (presumably) by jumping while it still close to the ground. No one is surviving that dramatic drop.
- So a guy will get stopped for speeding, and a deputy will call in ICE if there is a undocumented alien in the vehicle even if there is no criminal history? Gift link.
- Oral argument snafu. I bet there is a 100% chance this guy calls his wife "honey" at home -- especially during disagreements. I feel sorry for him. He wasn't being condescending to the judge, it just kind of slipped out as if he reflexively uses that term all the time.
- A general manager of a large auto dealer in Wichita Falls was arrested and then fired. Then a grand jury no-billed him.
- Six Supreme Court opinions were issued on Friday and they all concerned incredibly boring issues. I suppose that's a good thing these days.

This was wild. A guy shoots into the Dallas PD headquarters very early on a Saturday morning, flees in tricked up van, police corner him in a parking lot and negotiate with him, and then just decide to use a sniper to kill him. Then police blew up the van.

- Those big flag poles installed at the White House this week have a connection to Wise County.
- The flag is actually on a $55 million ranch which, I think, is technically in Wise and Jack counties. (Here are some pictures on Facebook of its installation.)
- There was (another) fatal shooting in Deep Ellum last night, and @Fox4Terry was hard at work capturing my favorite bit: Detectives still wearing long-sleeved white shirts and ties.
- Trump somehow has managed to turn the Israel/Iraq war into an extended "look at me" moment as he, as always, says he will make a decision "in two weeks" about the U.S.'s role.
- But to think that this was a written statement prepared in advance by Trump is comical:
- Totally normal.
- This ought to be a winning platform: Less holidays. (Not to mention he just happened to have fired this post off on Juneteenth.)
- In the constant battle over presidential powers, the courts are ill-equipped to handle it. This is a prime example. Is the California National Guard even still there or needed? And this isn't even a final decision. It's just a temporary order.
- I used to pass this building all the time back in the day on I-35 going south out of Dallas. Always wondered what was going on there. Now I know.
- This is a judge on Texas' highest criminal court speaking at a conference yesterday.
- This is the defense team in the Karen Read case. Those seated with Read are her four lawyers. The rest are support staff, many volunteering, including law students from Harvard and Boston College. This doesn't include the multiple expert witnesses who were called to testify on her behalf.
