Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts




He survived. 

  •  Sledding victim identified. 


  • There's little information, but we know it was three brothers who went to a pond off of "Recreational Road Three"

  • There is still little information as well about the private jet crash in Maine which was registered to the Houston law firm of Arnold & Itkin. But we do know two of the victims are Tara Arnold, a lawyer in the firm and wife of the named partner, and Shawna Collins who is listed as an event planner. 


  • Minneapolis developments:
    • Bovino and Noem are no longer the face of ICE in Minneapolis.  But make no mistake about it, the policy hasn't changed. It's just that those two are bad at lying (and they also managed to rile up the Second Amendment folks.)


    • But putting this guy in charge is like sending gasoline to a fire.  

    • And the press secretary didn't exactly do a great job on the Second Amendment front yesterday. I don't know where she came up with this: 

    • Just two weeks ago Trump told us . . . 

    • Can you imagine being a Minnesota congressman who cares so little that he even copies and pastes the part he's not supposed to copy and paste. 

  • An under the radar move. 

  • The grift never ends.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts




Right before the Iowa caucuses, Trump skipped the debate on Fox News because the network wouldn't remove Megyn Kelly from the panel. 

  • Ten shots fired by masked and secret federal police has left a U.S. citizen dead in the streets.  I never really understood the phrase "The storm is coming," but I do now.

    • You've probably seen all the videos but, if not, here are the three critical ones:   Initial one to hit the Internet (from across the street). Second one from the middle of the street. Third one (the best video taken from the sidewalk)   And the New York Times breakdown of all of them is great.

    • It is 100% clear that the (legally carried) gun on the deceased was removed from his holster by ICE before any of the 10 shots were fired. The guy in the gray jacket (visible in all of the videos, above) comes into the pile clearly without anything in his hands, reaches in, and then pulls a gun out matching the gun that ICE claims the dead man had. The Washington Post analysis of all of this is fantastic. (Gift link.)


    • As disturbing as it is for the government to execute someone in the streets, a close second is how the federal government lies to us about what we saw with out own eyes.  And rushing to microphones to do it.  This give ICE a green light to kill in the future. 

      • The Border Patrol chief was in front of the microphone within two hours with an insane conclusion that the deceased was there to "massacre law enforcement."  


      • Kristi Noem, within five hours to process it, said that the dead man was "brandishing" a weapon and called him a domestic terrorist.  It's Orwellian.
    • The Second Amendment crowd has told us for years that the right to bear arms is to protect the citizenry from the "tyranny" of the federal government.  Well, the FBI Director and Treasury secretary both said (here and here) on the Sunday talk shows, that you can't bring a gun to a protest.   And apparently the penalty for doing so is an extra-judicial execution. 



    • It's an op-ed piece, but it is not wrong: 

  • Winter storm related news: 
    • Last night, a plane carrying eight people crashed on takeoff in Bangor, Maine. It was registered to the Houston law firm of Arnold & Itkin, but no identities of the victims have been confirmed. I mentioned one of the named partners ten days ago when he purchased a massive ranch near Weatherford.


    • I never knew there was a live TxDot camera in Bridgeport. All cameras can be found here. But you have to toggle them on.

    • That track of land is surrounded by massive homes. It has the appearance of being owned by someone who has refused to sell to developers over the year. Google satellite view. 

       
    • "Preliminary investigation indicates a 16-year-old male was operating a Jeep Wrangler while pulling the two females on a sled. Witnesses reported the sled struck a curb and collided with a tree near the intersection of Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court at approximately 2:26 p.m..  This incident remains under active investigation, with support from the Denton County District Attorney’s Office."

Back when the New York Post was a little woke in its weather forecasts. (From 1/21/16)

  • It's been a wild ride on the roads of Wise County over the last 24 hours (per this Facebook account):
    • Yesterday afternoon a woman and child were careflighted from a three vehicle wreck on 114 just east of Rhome. 

    • Also late yesterday afternoon at the Montague/Wise county line on 287:

    • Yesterday evening near Boyd:

    • This morning ,at one of the most dangerous places in the county, there was a wreck but it doesn't appear to be a major one.

  • We've got another LL weather update.  It will now hit freezing today at 8:45 p.m.  Total accumulations over the weekend is now set at 2.4" of a "wintery mix."   
    • It will be colder than previously predicted with the high on Saturday at 24 degrees, Sunday is only 18 degrees, and 26 degrees on Monday (but sunny.) We won't break freezing until noon on Tuesday,   
    • This change has led to another firing of my weather team (I didn't understand that flag patch from the beginning.)
  • As expected. 

  • I'll repeat it: He's not leaving. 

  • The government has digitally created a lie to try to humiliate one of its own citizens after accusing them of a crime but before a trial. It's over.
