- I don't know if this will be a permanent sight as part of the Wise County courthouse renovation, but the lighting of the inside of the bell tower is really cool. I've never seen that done.
- Death sentences are becoming less frequent, but there was one in Tarrant County yesterday. "The four-hour deliberation period included a takeout Jimmy John’s lunch and a smoke break." (Star-Telegram gift link.)
- A body was found at 820 and 377 in the creek that runs through Iron Horse Golf Course. That's all we know.
- This is really a weird case that happened back in July, and I still don't have a grasp of what is going on. Six defendants appeared in federal court yesterday. "There are at least 16 people who have been charged in the case."
- Speaking of a verdict to be forthcoming . . .
- Random rapture warning for today:
- Dateline Ponder, Texas. He was arrested for going around the barricades.
- Trump's press conference yesterday telling pregnant women not to take Tylenol might have been his craziest one so far in his second term. Here are the greatest quotes . . .
- "Nothing bad can happen, it can only good happen." Video.
- "Asceda -- well, let's see how we say that. Ascenem -- enophin. Acetaminophen. Is that okay?" Video.
- “Hepatitis B is sexually transmitted. There's no reason to give a baby that's almost just born hepatitis B.” Video.
- "Hepatitis B again, that's sexually transmitted, and I think you should wait until 12 [years of age]. You know, I'm making these statements from me. I'm not making them from these doctors ... I talk about a lot of common sense." Video
- "There's a rumor, and I don't know if it's so or not, that Cuba, they don't have Tylenol because they don't have the money for Tylenol, and they have virtually no autism." Video
- Disney, which had cratered to government pressure last week, has decided to put Jimmy Kimmel back on the air beginning tonight. But Sinclair, which owns 30 of the underlying ABC affiliates nationwide, won't agree to do so. No word yet from Nexstar which owns 32 affiliates and actually started the whole boycott.
- The Business Second™.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, the company’s president, alongside
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang yesterday on CNBC. - Developing: The Secret Service just announced that "it had dismantled a massive network of electronic devices in the New York City area that investigators believe was used to threaten U.S. officials and was capable of cyberattacks that could knock out large sections of cellular communications. Investigators found the devices in vacant apartments" and other locations. They claim to have discovered 300 servers and 100,000 SIM cards housed in at least five sites in the New York tristate area.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts
- Metroplex quick hits:
- Six injured when a car plowed into a restaurant of Friday evening in Southlake.
- I missed this last week. Video
- Walmart warehouse in Sanger was damaged last night by storms. .
- I warned on Friday that if this happens, we've reached a new level of "It's Over." Well, it happened.
- Then it got worse. Much worse. There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes, but Trump did it on Saturday. The five alarm fire continues.
- This is Trump's choice to replace the U.S. Attorney in Virginia who will indict who he wants, evidence be damned. She's been busy white-washing the Smithsonian museums for him.
- We are watching the death of democracy by a thousand cuts.
- So the soon-to-be Border Czar was just taking $50,000 in a paper bag on video? And the FBI closed the investigation upon Trump's election?
- The plan is nuts, and the fact that Trump's picture is on the card is nuttier.
- Not measuring a problem doesn't mean it's no longer a problem.
- That "allegedly" is doing a lot of work here. Paxton doesn't even know if the the professor actually kicked the girl out of class. (Here's the video of the first part, however.)
- This is real post based upon a real TPUSA news release:
- We already knew that a UFC fight will occur on the White House lawn, but now we have an "artist's rendition" of what it will look like.
- That's a pretty low flyover a Notre Dame on Saturday. Video.
- Bill Belichick, with his girlfriend, before being beaten by UCF by a score of 34-9.
- Not much press for the trial of a would-be assassin of Trump which is entering its second week this morning. The defendant is representing himself.

Random Friday Morning Thoughts
- And another. "The pilots were on a routine training flight when the aircraft, an MH-60 Black Hawk assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, went down near Summit Lake in a rural area in Western Washington near the Joint Base Lewis-McChord."
- More news out of Washington state for those following this sad case.
- When I first saw these headlines, I thought the guy must have been thrown from the ride. Nope. He was found to be deceased in his seat after the ride was over. So did he just simply die while he just happened to be on the ride? Not according to the medical examiner. (Side note: Faithful readers know that I'm extremely skeptical of medical examiners.)
- If this happens, we've reached a new level of "It's Over": "President Donald Trump is expected to fire the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia after his office was unable to find incriminating evidence of mortgage fraud against New York Attorney General Letitia James, according to sources."
- The pitchfork crowd is on a roll this week.
- Couple of things I meant to post yesterday:
- So we are now joking about the U.S. murdering people in boats thousands of miles away, and, even worse, that it's no big deal if innocent people are accidentally targeted?
- Ok, let's tap the brakes a little bit.
- If you want to know where we are headed, look at this post by Larry Brock Jr. who is running in the Republican primary against incumbent Jared Patterson for a Texas House seat based in North Texas.
- Brock, by the way, was sentenced to 24 months in prison for his conduct on January 6th. Here he is with Wise County representative Andy Hopper:
- This does seem big. It translates what the other person is saying in real time and, as a bonus, will create a transcript of your conversation for later review.
- Random post last night from the popular Texas history Twitter account:
