- I've seen this story a few times, but this really is insignificant. Horner filed a routine Motion for New Trial and the judge didn't rule on it at all. However, once 75 days passed, the Motion was "automatically" denied by "operation of law."
- There was a pretty big fire at the Jack/Wise County line yesterday. It was a good day for almost no wind.
- That photo has a Cartel/Federale feel to it.
- They figured out the speed and the guy's intentions by retrieving his own dashcam footage that was in his vehicle. (I'm referring to the guy on the left.)
- There is no way in on God's green earth this guy should ever be voted out of committee as the next Attorney General of the United States, but that's exactly what will happen this morning. John Cornyn, as I predicted, caved.
- There was a time when a President of the United States would not dare express an opinion on anything that the Justice Department did. Now we have one who comments wildly on particular prosecutions.
Pirro leaving the Oval Office yesterday. - Conservatism has come a long way.
- Not a bad question. He was on vacation for months filming this thing.
- Sports: Evil Empire Ex Bijan Robinson just got a "three-year extension worth up to $75 million that now will make him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. Robinson will receive a record $51 million guaranteed"

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

This was near Lockhart and was caused when the balloon hit an electrical line. It was, and still is, the deadliest ballooning disaster to ever occur in the United States.
- The big news over the weekend was a mass shooting in Idaho. Lots of videos of the gunman, as well as a civilian returning fire, are everywhere online. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
- Meanwhile, in New York . . .
- It took three years to make an arrest (and not yet an indictment) in this IV treatment death in Freestone County?
- And another.
- I can't tell you how outrageous this is. How many times did Trump and Jeanine Pirro, as well as others in the administration, tell us this guy was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? They will lie to you about anything and everything.
- Late last night, Todd Blanche put in writing that the will not be a slush fund for the January 6th Insurrectionists (despite settlement documents that are already signed committing the government to do just that.) And Trump still gets immunity from tax audits worth $100 million which was also part of that settlement.
- Trump blamed the Governor of Minnesota for the hacks on Friday. Really.
- Trump had a wild weekend.
- He posted 43 times from Saturday morning to afternoon and almost all of them were crazy images that would get past presidents hospitalized for a mental health emergency. This is a tame one:
- Then on Saturday night he took a break just to make up news about the Iraq war.
- And then he got up and golfed the next day in his own tournament and claimed to have shot a 70 win it.
- He really said that in his "I will not quit" speech yesterday:
- Let's check in on the Austin swamp:
- CBS desperately will use any reason to get out of Romo's contract -- a contract which calls for him to receive $72 million over the next four years,
- Flock cameras sure are making a lot of news:
- See . . .

It's Friday, Let's Get Out of Here
This is Fenrir. He has not yet been successful in cuddling with the cat. But thinks if he goes slow enough she might not notice. 13/10 pic.twitter.com/seqPvOT4pA

Random Friday Morning Thoughts
- Messenger - Above the Fold (I forget yesterday)
- Traffic alert from yesterday afternoon: You don't see that every day.
- Wise County State Rep. Andy Hopper will speak at the far right wing True Texas event in Fort Worth where he will give a couple of Islamophobia based lectures. When he's not obsessed with gays and trans people, he's Muslim-bashing. (He still hasn't learned to pass a Wise County water bill, though.)
- They tried him once and ended up with a hung jury, so now prosecutors do this. They might want to focus on the hundreds of files of regular crime they have in their office.
- Busy week for cops and DWI arrests. It occurred in Springtown where he lives.
- That's big. And not very far away.
- It's a wild scene in that little piece of property controlled by Spain. Rough estimates place 50,000 people entering that territory in the last 24 hours. Heck, the whole population of the area is 83,000, and it's only seven square miles.
- Conservatism isn't what it used to be.
- The Business Second™. New earnings reports were released within the last 24 hours.
- Legal nerdy stuff: A couple arrested in a national fraud scheme are being held in the Tarrant County Jail on state charges with bonds of $25 million and $30 million. That is, until the Fort Worth Court of Appeals said yesterday the bond amounts were "beyond the pale." The defense lawyer is Gregg Gallian out of Dallas. The lower court judge is Andy Porter.
- Lauren Whitener Clock: 7 years and 26 days.
