Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

Trump campaigned in Dallas at . . . Gilley's.

  • Here's the video of kids scattering last night:
  • There's no reason to run. Just walk out and be cool. Video.

  • I can't find exactly what he lied about, but I'd like to know.

  • (1) MLB rules prohibit any player from writing anything on his uniform, and (2) Ask a Muslim about that last sentence by Greg Abbott..

  • Sheesh. This constitutes "losing the war." And it cost the lives of 13 American service members and 160+ school girls.

  • Not only is this a weird thing to do this morning at 5:00 a.m. on the day of the confirmation hearing, but Trump can just cancel Senate hearings on his own?

  • Random crazy stuff Trump just said.
  • The Business Second™.

  • Texas documentary note:

    • Flashback: I wrote this about that case last November when the court opinion on appeal came out:

  • More random movie news. I'm in.

  • What's going on out there?

  • Legal news: "George was convicted of stealing about $45,000 of campaign donations. Money prosecutors said he used to buy a home, pay property taxes, and make retail purchases . . . ."

  • When you've lost the New York Post . . .

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

When an alligator attacked a two year old boy at a resort within Disney World.

  •  I'm waiting on the details on this one.

  • This "and another" had serious consequences yesterday.

  • Watch this case. It involves Bridgeport's own Maryssa Simpson, who is representing the plaintiffs, while the case is defended by Terri Moore (a former Tarrant County felony prosecutor from back in the day) and Levi McCathern, who recently had an "interesting" representation of Michael Irvin.  Gift link

  • Missed this one from late last week.

  • Dateline Senatobia, Mississippi:

  • The Art of the Deal (or at least what little we know of the "deal.")

  • It's not safe to rent jet skis in the Bahamas, and that news was delivered by Ambassador Herschel Walker.  Although he certainly through me off when he warned of not only accidents and deaths, but also sexual assault.

  • Trump's going to be so mad that he might send in the National Guard down to the reflecting pool to either clean it or shoot it.

  • Oh, my. (Video.)

  • Legal stuff. Georgia lets felonies be decided by six person juries.  The Supreme Court will now finally review that practice. (Good explainer here.)

  • It was a wild day for Tech and its embattled transfer quarterback yesterday. After the AG of Kansas and Oklahoma threatened the school, the Big 12 filed suit in federal court seeking declaratory judgement and a preliminary injunction to stop him from playing. Then the news broke last night that the QB is heading to the NFL. Tech's money man, Cody Campbell, said the player had been "stripped of his opportunity to continue."

  • I don't hate the World Cup, but I don't exactly like it either.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

He "hit a curb and a street sign while making a right turn' and then found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.12. He was later named head coach in Southlake.

  • As if skydiving wasn't dangerous enough.

  • Weird sight in Wise County yesterday on 287 at around 3:00 p.m.: One DPS trooper with with a car stopped coming out of Decatur,  then four (!) DPS vehicles out on a traffic stop between Rhome and Decatur (they were doing a search), and then another trooper on a stop near FM 407. I can't tell you the last time I saw six DPS vehicles on the road in Wise County.
  • I mentioned this story when the arrest first happened but now the details are now out in the public. This story is crazy.

  • There was an active shooter (video) in Midland on Friday who killed one and injured ten.  As it turned out, he was already wanted after firing a gun at an officer two days before during a traffic stop.

  • The most disgraceful event ever held at the White House is finally over.  (And one "fighter" yelled out that Michelle Obama "was a man" to the crowd with no pushback.  Video, There wasn't an ounce of decency amongst the attendees)
  • Trump's name was taken off the Kennedy Center late Friday night by court order, but only after the removal was delayed hours so a tarp could be put up to hide the event from the cameras. And for some reason, the tarp is still up.

  • He single-handedly changed the Supreme Court to what it is now.

  • And another. "The F/A-18 Hornet, which costs up to $57 million, was heard making a loud 'popping sound' before it smashed into Rimrock Lake in Washington state on Saturday."

  • And there has to be dozen to hundreds of cases out there still, right? .

  • Texas Republican Convention News:
    • It opened with a video and music about how the 2020 election was stolen from Trump. (Sheesh)
    • Dan Patrick showed up in an outfit worthy of a mid-life crisis,

    • Andy Hopper's wife was soundly defeated in her attempt to become vice-chairman of the Texas Republican Party.

    • They brought it a live elephant who promptly relieved himself on the floor. (Video.)

  • The Business Second™.
  • It's actually hard to break the gun laws in Texas these days.

  • Ok, that's funny.

  • So we have a "deal with Iran"? Not a chance. And the fact that the Trump Administration won't release the details is all you need to know.
