Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

Before she was a State Senator and before she filed for divorce, Angela Paxton would sing "I'm a pistol packin' momma, and my husband sues Obama" in front of groups like the "Golden Corridor Republican Women's Club."

  • Trump took a lot of time to praise her yesterday as she sat in the audience.  And he actually said, “She’s got $60 billion in the bank.”

  • That's DFW airport.  And the guy seemed to be in no hurry to shut it off. Video.

  • Dateline Wichita, Kansas. This is weird. Apparently the video comes from a house that was unrelated to either person who are sought.

  • Age 55.  I don't think a lot of people on ATVs understand they can actually flip.

  • With the Constitution seemingly helpless to send them home, being fat did

  • A middle of the night rant because he didn't like the photograph.

  • The is a heck of a lot better headline that what Alec Baldwin normally finds himself in.

  • Sports reporter Pablo Torre, who is really good at his job, teased his interview with Mark Cuban that comes out today . . . .

  • I think it only caused "chaos" because the play-by-play guy and cameramen didn't know the rule that it's not a catch if it bounces off the wall. And cutting away from the catcher running to third base for the second forced out at third really messed it up. Video.  Note: The umpires knew what was going on the whole time.

  • With all the joy of the release of the twenty Israeli hostages yesterday, we still need to remember that approximately 60,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza. And those who survived are looking at a decimated landscape.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

This was so disturbing. Near White Rock Lake, a jogger was attacked and killed with a machete by a former Aggie receiver who had a permanent mental breakdown. After initially being mentally incompetent, he was later cleared to stand trial and received life in prison.

  • The 20 living hostages held by Hamas were released overnight. Trump is in Israel taking a victory lap and, for once, it's a legitimate one.

  • This happened yesterday afternoon just north of Saginaw and very close to Highway 287.  Video from one of the businesses that captured the moment of impact.

  • A dramatic helicopter crash in Florida on Saturday afternoon. There were no deaths despite even a child on the ground being pinned underneath is. Video

  • I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

  • Otherwise, it was a normal weekend in America:
    • Mississippi.

    • South Carolina.

  • On Friday, an explosion at a munitions plant killed 16 people. They, and the plant they were working in, are just gone

  • Trump quotes:
    • Before leaving for Israel, Trump had to throw out a couple of serious lies as he continues to rewrite history into a fiction of his own.  First, the 274 agents were sent to the Capitol after the riots began (and even FBI Director Kash Patel said so just a couple of weeks ago.) Second, whose FBI was it on January 6th?

    • After saying he will impose 100% tariffs on China on Friday (causing a mysterious $160 million crypto profit for someone), Trump said on Sunday, "Nevermind":
    • He's not good at geography as he spoke on Air Force One yesterday. Audio

  • Checking in on Fox News and Gov. Abbott:

  • Texas Tech is having a heck of a year, but resorting to chemical warfare between the third and fourth quarters seems over the top.

  • It's Columbus Day, and I remain THWMISB™.

It's Friday -- Let's Get Out of Here

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

All the press that the Dallas DA was getting over her mental health probably didn't do much to help her mental health. This D Magazine story is still available

  • "A prosecutor handpicked by President Trump secured an indictment of New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, on bank fraud and false statement charges in the Eastern District of Virginia on Thursday after the president publicly demanded Ms. James be charged."

    • Trump, as he directed in social media post meant as a DM, has now achieved the indictment of two of the three people he targeted. Oh, and the lawyer with no experience he told AG Pam Bondi to appoint to do this dirty work, has now been on the job for less than three weeks.

    • And there's more coming. Retribution is here.  It's over.
  • And new this morning, the Nobel Peace Prize goes to . . .  not Trump.  (Stolen! Rigged!)

  • Oh my. The final score in Decatur v. Diamond Hill Jarvis last night was 91-8. And that was with  the second half being designated as two 10-minute quarters with a rolling clock.

  • Last night.  Always assume that the guy in the next car is crazy because they probably are.

  • I haven't looked into this story ,but it certainly sounds wonky.

  • All he does is watch the news and then issue a press release.

  • "On Trump’s desk in the Oval Office today was a plan for a triumphal arch on the other side of the river from the Lincoln Memorial."  Many comments made reference to Albert Speer, and I had to look him up

  • Highlights of Trump's cabinet meeting yesterday:
    • Kristi Noem is either a liar or dumb or both.

    • Is there no one in his life to tell him to stop saying this?

  • It came down via parachute, but still quite the sight.

  • A playoff series ended on this play last night. Video.

  • Very, very nerdy legal stuff. Yesterday, the Court of Criminal Appeals granted a PDR brought by a pro se defendant. The complete point of error and argument taken from his petition is below. (The State Prosecuting Attorney summarizes what the issue is here.). And you know what? I think he'll win.

  • Lauren Whitener Clock: 6 years and 98 days.
