Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

You don't see this very often. I've never seen it happen in Wise County.

  • In England overnight. The attacker, as seen below, was shot dead by police:

  • Man, they are dogging the Johnson County sheriff. The new charge is for aggravated perjury for allegedly lying before a grand jury when he decided to appear to defend himself against charges of abuse of office for sexual harassment.
    • "A judge set his bond at $50,000 at the Johnson County Jail. When the judge announced the amount, Sheriff King responded, 'Wow, I'm getting to be a scary criminal.'"   He's right to mock the bond amount. That's a ridiculous figure.

  • Club crackdown #1.

  • Club crackdown #2. Police press release.

  • So what was the sentence and who was the judge? The story doesn't say. Seems kind of important.
  • You would think you would feel pretty safe being on a sidewalk in Plano.

  • An apartment complex in New York partially collapsed yesterday morning after a gas explosion.

  • The video, which Trump originally posted online, was running yesterday in the press room at the White House. Video.

  • Every U.S. government website is turning into OAN or Newsmax.

  • "The Trump administration said it is withholding $18 billion in infrastructure funds for some major transportation projects in New York City, citing concerns about diversity, equity and inclusion." I would say this is illegal, but nothing matters anymore.

  • Trump destroyed the Oval Office with all the gold trim, and now he's expanding its use onto the "Presidential Walk of Fame" outside.

  • Didn't Trump distance himself from Project 2025 during the campaign?.
  • After getting his own personal jet from Qatar, he basically has unilaterally made them a member of NATO via executive order.

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

One of the more insane stories that we've had.

  • Re: Trump's address to the generals flown in from around the world:
    • He's clear that he intends to use them against American cities:  "San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places and we're gonna straighten them out one by one. And this is gonna be a major part for some of the people in this room. That's a war too. It's a war from within."

    • And there's this: "I told Pete, we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military. National Guard, but our military. Because we're going into Chicago very soon. That's a big city with an incompetent governor. Stupid governor."
    • But as radical as the use of the military against American cities is, Trump rambled so badly from the start that the room full of generals had to come to the conclusion that he's simply out of his mind.  A couple of examples:
  • The federal government shut down overnight:

    • Most recent shut downs and their lengths:

    • Look at those hats on Trump's desks as Democratic leaders met with him in an effort to avoid a shutdown two days ago.

  • Dateline Denton. That was a quick grand jury review. The story notes: "The altercation continued in the 200 block of West Hickory Street, police said, which is where the gunman shot Ruff 'multiple times,' police said." I've heard some very disturbing things about the shooting.

  • TCU is a private school. The Texas AG needs to go back to any school.

  • Just when you thought you've seen it all.

  • Ted Cruz had one of the all-time misspeaks yesterday. Video.

  • You can take your gun into U.S. Post Offices now.  A Fort Worth federal judge is responsible for the ruling yesterday.

  • Kind of of legal nerdy stuff: I don't think a judge should ever start off an opinion by reproducing a note he received from the public.

  • Uncle Julio's on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth has run into a tad bit of trouble. Gift link.

  • Every time I mess around with AI the more convinced I am that we aren't going to survive what's coming.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

I bet you don't even remember this one

  • The second ICE detainee shot last week in Dallas has died overnight.

  • Pete Hegseth is speaking right now to generals gathered from around the world like he's Patton.   It's already had some cringe-worthy moments.  "No more beards, long hair, superficial individual expression . . . . We don’t have a military full of Nordic pagans." Trump is up next.

    • And Trump stopped to talk to reporters this morning on the way there.

  • Last night DPS announced is was suspending the "issuance" of CDLs for legal refugees, asylees, and  DACA recipients.

  • Fox 4 weatherman Evan Andrews announced his retirement this morning.

  • Trump tweeted out this racist video last night. It is absolutely, like him, insane.

  • Call it extortion or call it a payoff, Google's YouTube caved yesterday.  There's no legal reason for them to pay a penny.
    • Trump posted this in response:

  • There was so much news over the weekend, most people missed that masked troops were roaming around Chicago.

    • Take a step back and ask yourself why are heavily armed masked men in military uniforms standing on the streets of a U.S. city are chasing people who say mean things to them? Video. (Which is very Keystone cops-like.) Spoiler: He got away.

  • If he writes a different letter which says, "He's a good ol' white boy," would that have been ok?

  • Kushner continues to make money from with his Saudi pals. Always remember that he made an "official" visit to the U.S. immediately after January 6th.

  • I meant to post this yesterday:  Trump posted an AI video of himself on Sunday promising healthcare for everyone via a magic health bed that doesn't exist.   He later took it down. I have no idea why he did that.

  • Every year we go through this "government shutdown" drama only for a deal to be made at the last minute.
