Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

DeLoss Dodds was AD for 32 years. His successor lasted 22 months.

  • "Trooper Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr., 44, was driving on FM 945 South, responding to assist law enforcement partners with an emergency call around 9:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, when his vehicle went off the side of the road, struck a tree and caught fire. Trooper Adamick died at the scene."

  • "Upon arrival, officers found six children ranging in age from 2 months to 9 years old inside the unit. The other children were 2, 3, 5, and 7 years old, police said."  There's not much of an explanation in any of the stories.

  • The video is repulsive, but that is the price we pay for free speech. Or it used to be that way. I'm at a loss to understand how a public university can kick you out of school for distasteful mockery or how an elected official, who knows better, can advocate for that punishment.

  • The forever war, which has been all one-sided for two years, continues.

  • But that "brawl" was only between two people. "At nearly 1,200 feet long and with a capacity for around 7,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members, the Royal Caribbean-operated Wonder of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world."

  • Oh, no. Trump got to ride in the King's carriage this morning as he made his was to Windsor Castle.

    • But there were shenanigans last night by some Brits as a video slide show, and a high quality one at that, was projected onto the castle.

  • For some reason, the prosecutor in the Charlie Kirk case revealed and read the text messages between the alleged shooter and his roommate.

    • There are a lot of people on the left and the right who think there's something not quite right with the text exchange. Hey, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I'm right there with them. It simply doesn't sound like a text exchange between 22 year olds of today. Best theory I saw: The roommate had prior knowledge of the shooting and the text messages were a ruse to make it seem otherwise.

    • Legal nerdy stuff:  Utah does not use grand juries. Even though the right to a grand jury is in the Bill of Rights, the Supreme Court has said, a long time ago, that it does not apply to state prosecutions.
  • This is just on step in an ongoing plan for the current Administration to take control over elections so as to be able to invalidate the votes of blue states in future elections.  It's over.

  • A huge tree on the White House lawn is being cut down to make way for Trump's ballroom.

  • But we ask juries to determine credibility very often with only an hour or two of a person's testimony.

  • Ted Cruz, being interviewed on CNN last night, went off the rails.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

Trump campaigned in Dallas at the AAC.

  • Breaking celebrity death: Robert Redford.
  •  A "hard landing" by this helicopter at the Decatur airport last night sent one to the hospital.

  • After pleading guilty and waiving a jury, a visiting judge in Wise County gave the absolute maximum sentence on every single case yesterday.

  • Wise County Judge J.D. Clark announced his bid for re-election this morning. If my math is right, that would be his fourth term.
  • The U.S. committed another extrajudicial killing thousands of miles from our shore.

  • I told you it would go national once they figured out an illegal immigrant was involved. .

  • Two absolutely idiotic things Attorney General Pam Bondi said within the last 24 hours which are 100% wrong.
  • Charlie Kirk was a free speech warrior. If you say differently, we will fire you.

  • By the time all is said done, this guy will have the killer of Charlie Kirk being a trans guy in a dress, holding a Biden sign made from mail-in ballots, and who was actually the guy who beat out Riley Gaines for a swimming medal -- all the while funded by George Soros and a mysterious cabal operating in the shadows:

    • In all seriousness, bad things are coming.
    • But, in the meantime, let's all show unity against violence in Tarrant County by having a march "together"  in downtown. Oh, wait. Only "conservatives" are invited, and it will be sponsored by Patriot Mobile among others.

  • And the grift never ends. And no one cares. Gift link.

  • There's more ways to stifle free speech: File a new $15 billion lawsuit which has no chance of success. ( PDF. Just skim through it -- it's a wild ride.)

  • Random news magazine cover I saw yesterday which was published 50 years ago this week: Manson family member Squeaky Fromme immediately after she failed to assassinate President Gerald Ford because she forgot to chamber a round in the handgun.

  • The Atlanta Supreme Court just upheld the disqualification of Fani Willis in her cluster of a prosecution of Donald Trump.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

Rhome Police Chief Brandon Davis removed citizens Kenny Crenshaw and Ramah Burn from a Rhome city council meeting, (Video), and this action would cause him to be indicted and arrested a few months later. The case would be prosecuted by the Texas AG's office and, two years later, Davis would be found not guilty by a Wise County jury.

  • This was a cluster

  • You knew this was coming. But, man, that was a big tree.

  • This is a different affair than the one that was publicized during his impeachment trial.

  • DPS troopers have been dispatched from the border to locations around the state.  There's lots of money in their budget for overtime for Operation Lone Star and its going to be used.

    • There's about to be more of these incidents,

  • Charlie Kirk stuff:
    • You know, we all grieve differently.  Video

    • Look, no one's death deserves to be celebrated, and you have every right to feel disgusted if you see someone doing so online.  But it seems really strange that people are getting fired left and right over offensive posts. Being offended has always been a part of being an American. Anyone remember Westboro Baptist Church protesting at funerals?

    • And worse, if it is a government employee who is guilty of a reprehensible post, they can't be fired for that. Despite widespread belief otherwise, "hate speech" is, in fact, constitutionally protected speech.

    • This is nuts.

    • This is nuts.

    • She wasn't arrested at Texas Tech for her speech, she was arrested for a Class C assault - punishable by fine only. For the governor to say otherwise is, well, nuts.

    • Social media might be the end of us all, but the fact that one of the biggest social media sites amplifies craziness is only going to speed up the process.

    • Ted Cruz was showboating this weekend.

    • Well, I'll be. Story.

  • Fox News' Brian Kilmeade went viral on Saturday for advocating euthanizing the undesirables in our society. Yes, Brian Kilmeade really said this. He later apologized.:

  • A faithful reader pointed out to me that there are some rumors that former State Rep. Lynn Stucky possibly making an attempt to get his job back from Rep. Andy Hopper. Can Stucky pass a simple water bill?

  • We've now got a Jerry Jones starter-kit in the NFL.  The new owner of the Colts is on the sidelines listening to the coaches audio feed and taking notes.

  • Aggie vs. Notre Dame might be a lock for game of the year. That was fantastic.
