Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

This was in the case involving the killing of the Kaufman County DA and his wife. Probably the most bizarre testimony came from the shooter's wife who had also been indicted in the scheme. She admitted guilt and threw her husband under the bus. And she swore she didn't have a plea deal with the prosecutor in exchange for her testimony, but two weeks later she entered into a plea bargain of 40 years

  • This is awful. Being a guard in a local jail is a low paying and thankless job. He was 28 years old.

  • A picture as emerged of the Madison shooter at a gun range.  "In the photo, the girl is wearing a T-shirt of the German band KMFDM. The teenaged shooters in the 1999 Columbine school massacre in Colorado were known to be avid fans of the band, and one of the killers posted the band's lyrics on his website."  (I saw this two days ago, but it only got verified last night.  It's hard to find the truth these days.)

    • Two days ago, the police chief of Madison said a "second grader" called 911 duirng the school shooting. He clarified yesterday that he should have said "second grade teacher."  Quite the mistake.

  • Good grief. There are a ton of massive murder-suicides these days.

  • Oh good grief.

  • Trump tweeted this at 3:11 a.m.    If I am President Biden, I pardon the hundreds of innocent people that might be on his hit list.  There is no telling what Trump will do do in his retribution campaign. These are scary days.

  • The Business Second™.

  • The Second Business Second™: The plant will be built near Alliance Airport and will be in the Northwest ISD.  It will be used to build a new helicopter as part of an $80 billion government contract.

  • The legislative committee has again subpoenaed the "shaken baby killer" to testify before them. It is scheduled for Friday.

  • Stop the presses!

  • WBAP's sports guy Steve Lamb was laid off after 39 years at the station.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

It never was big news, but I did find out that it led to a $15 million jury verdict.

  • Wise County jury verdict.  He has elected to have the judge, and not the jury, assess punishment . That phase of the trial continues today.

  • Once nothing changed after Sandy Hook, it was over.

    • But the fact that the shooter was a 15 year old girl is a twist.

  • Overnight. A bombing on the streets of Moscow seems like a bit of an escalation.

  • WFAA had a story of a car smashing into a home in North Richland Hills, but the television audience had to have done a doubletake once the video cut to the interview of the occupants.

  • Update from yesterday.

  • A Senator really fell for this? Yep.

  • Still not exactly Christmas weather.

  • A lot of bending of the knee going on.

  • The dumbest people.

  • Trump actually sued her and the Des Moines Register yesterday?! So publishing a poll that turns out to be wrong is defamation now?  Welcome to Russia, comrades.

  • The DPS trooper seriously injured in north Dallas is Trooper Austin Parrott. I can't find a picture. of him.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts

There was at least one report that linked the fight to the now famous Waco Twin Peaks shootout which will happen in the following summer.

  • As of 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, three Texas juveniles are on the run out of Granbury.

  • Overnight. And Fox4Terry was on the job.

  • This makes no sense to me. ABC would have won that case.

  • They won't stop until abortion, in any form, is illegal for everyone.

  • An inmate of the Tarrant County jail dies and six days later the Tarrant County DA's office indicted him. They dismissed it once they realized the error.

  • Good grief.

  • Seems like a normal guy. Story.

  • This is great. A Texas legislator went on a rant online about "propaganda" only to be told in the comments that he authored the law, House Bill 3, which required what he was complaining about.

  • Trump was at the Army-Navy game. He's going to get sick of Elon, right?

  • In light of the drone mystery in New Jersey, the President-Elect of the United States of America posted this.  Really
  • He got this backwards. He wants to keep Daylight Saving Time.

  • Lawyers in love.

  • The Pop Tarts Bowl introduced a great new bit: A trophy which actually functions as a toaster for Pop Tarts.

  • We've got an uncomfortable named town making an appearance in the state high school finals at Jerry World this week. (Population 449, by the way.)

  • It's a weirdly crowded TV football schedule on Saturday of big stuff: Three (first time ever) college football playoff games, two NFL games, the semi-finals of the always entertaining FCS division, and three championship Texas high school football games in the largest classifications (on what was formerly Bally's).
