OK, I Take It All Back

We need to ramp up the War On Drugs.......fast!

Deposition Humor

A faithful reading Wise County attorney just tipped me off to this. Sometimes I think the practice of civil law is crazier than criminal law.

Meet Josh McNeil: Man Among Boys

Story. Now I can't be condoning such behavior, but it's definitely blogworthy. Heck, it's almost worth creating a Liberaly Lean Hall Of Fame. But how does this guy answer the question, "Did you have a good weekend?", "Did you have fun this weekend?", or "Did you have a crazy weekend?"

No Justice. No Justice Of The Peace

Dateline: Abilene. Let's see, if a guy is riding in the back seat of a vehicle and accidentally fires a hunting rifle through the front seat killing the driver and causing a head on collision that injures five people, do you think an autopsy might be in order?

Not according to an Abilene Justice of the Peace who said there "wasn't enough evidence" to warrant one.

Huh?

It's Election Day

Don't ignore important issues like Prop 10.

I think there is also a vote to put a tollway along the Trinity River between Chico and Boyd, but I may have that wrong.

I Call It "Dawg Under Wise County Trees"

Not the most exciting reader submitted pic, but not bad for a Tuesday. I was jogging outside when the cold front hit last night and it was great. Love this time of year. (Except it'll get back up to 80 this weekend.)

I remember as a kid going to high school football games late in the year and it was always freezing.

It (Was) Your Money

Channel 5 had a story tonight on the Texas State Troopers Association which solicits funds from the public - normally by telephone.

Of the $3.7 million donated annually, less than $100,000 goes to the troopers. Shockingly, $3 million of that goes to "fundraising." That is, the telemarketers themselves.

Oddly, some guy name Tom Vinger of DPS said, "DPS does not endorse these associations. They operate separately . . . ."

What a scam.

Democrat Candidate Dennis Kucinich . . .

. . . has a very hot and very tall wife.

Have You Hugged An Hispanic Baby Today?

For the most recent statistics of 2004 (don't know why that's the most recent), comes this gem for Texas:
In 2004, Hispanic girls ages 15 to 19 accounted for 61 percent of teen births even though only 39 percent of Texas adolescents were Hispanic, according to the federal National Center for Health Statistics.
And I have no idea if this accounts for home births by illegal aliens. This State - it is a changin'.

I'm Not Sure Which Is Stranger

The "forensic sketch" of the little girl that was discovered on a Galveston beach, or those that believe she resembles the little British girl that disappeared in Portugal.

Get The Motorcycles Out Of The Way

This is amazing. Did they have time to stop traffic on 820 or did the pilot just sit it down in between cars. I hope there's video.

Credit: Star-Telegram.

Edit: I'm not sure the pilot landed "on" 820.

A reader sent in this pic of the way the plane is supposed to look like:

Better Than Court TV

There was a pretty interesting hearing in the County Court at Law this morning. A lady was seeking a protective order against her husband (or ex-husband) and for one reason or another, the cops were a little nervous. I bet I counted six sheriff's deputies in the courtroom that were there for added security. I watched a little bit of the hearing and it was pretty bizarre. The husband indicated that God had told him he was a prophet about seven years ago and would be sending him on a journey. Throw in guns, an assault, a reference to six kids, a trip to Israel, a pet mouse, a miscarriage, the spanking of a kid at an airport, a request for a recess in order "to break water", and a mental confinement then you have a pretty entertaining hearing. The motion for a protective order was granted by the way.

Well I'll Be

I read that Mrs. Tom Cruise ran (and finished) the New York City Marathon yesterday coming in at 34,195th place with a time of 5:29:58. She would have beaten me.

News On Newspapers

Last year's daily circulation
: 404,652
This year's daily circulation: 373,586
Down 7.68%

And everyone else isn't doing much better. I wonder if there will come a day when newspapers as we know them simply won't exist?

While Channel Surfing . . .

. . . during halftime of the Cowboy game, I saw former Decatur high schooler Andrew McKinney put his hands on the ball. It's not that exciting, but it is Wise County related.

Jack Blonde?

Maybe I should do that to cover the grey hairs.

While Browsing The Sports Page

Decatur did well in the Regionals of Cross Country. I have no idea if you can advance to the State Meet by finishing second or third. But I bet someone knows.

It's Your Money

The Texas Governor's mansion is being remodeled so the Rick Perry has to live somewhere. And these are pics of that humble home. Rent: $9,900 per month.

Edit: And what's up with the fence so close to the pool?
