Violent Weekend in Iraq
And that's 25 American soldiers dead if you can't read the fine print.
And another bomb may have gone off this morning since CNN has the death count at 100. It's almost impossible to keep up with the body count.
Decatur's Economic Development Web Site
I'm not sure about the eagle landing on the courthouse causing the American flag to be unfurled. Here. (It's on the top banner - you can reload the page to see it again.)

This Technology Even Confuses My Big Brain
I thought USAA was an insurance company and not a bank, but I was also fascinated to learn that the company allows you can deposit checks from your home by scanning them.

Super Bowl Beat Down
As we have two weeks to get beaten down my Super Bowl Hype, you'll probably hear that the last time the Colts were in the Super Bowl was against Dallas. That was many, many years ago (and I remember watching it as a little kid - the game ended on a Colt field goal). Here's the Sports Illustrated cover after the game.
I Don't Know If This Is Post-Worthy Or Not
but I couldn't help myself after watching it a couple of times.
- The Hitter hit like a girl
- The Hittee acted like a girl once hit
- The "referee didn't see it?" Come on, he's standing right there
- This is more evidence that girls need to wear make-up and high heels instead of playing sports.
Anybody Want To Be This 21 Year Old?
I stumbled across this story today.
Let's see. Do I want to be a first round draft pick in the NFL as a receiver or do I want to sign a $10 million dollar contract to play baseball for the Cubs?
That Notre Dame education came in handy.
Football Gods
As I sit here after watching a very, very good AFC Championship game between Indianapolis and New England, I had to stop down with these post-game, nationally televised words of winning Colts coach Tony Dungy:
"But I just have to thank the Lord. He did it in such a way that nobody would believe it. And we've got to to give the Lord a lot of credit for giving us the strength to do it."
If the Lord is concerned about an NFL game, we've all got problems. (And I'd be even more concerned if He controlled the "way" the win occurred.)
But it did remind me of a pre-game prayer led by a coach when I was a spare varsity player at Bridgeport. It began, "Dear Lord, we need a win. And we need a win bad." And I am not making that up.
Name Your Price
The Star Telegram had a story speculating about what company would eventually win the the bidding rights to the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. The players are (with annual revenues): D.R. Horton: $15.05 billion Exxon Mobil: $370.68 billion Southwest Airlines: $9.09 billion TXU Corp.: $10.44 billion Verizon: $75.11 billion XTO Energy: $3.52 billion Wells Fargo & Co.: $35.69 billion Capital One: $3.07 billion EDS:$19.76 billion Texas Instruments: $13.39 billion
Exxon seems like the natural choice. I actually drove by the new site of the stadium yesterday. I had not idea that it was so close to Collins Street (heck, it is on Collins Street.) And although there wasn't much to see, I've never seen so many cranes in one location in my life.Wow. A Commercial Airline
Story.
I wonder what they announce to the passengers as the plane makes the unscheduled landing.

I was looking at some files a second ago in the courthouse and looked up. It just kinda struck me. Lots of ghosts in this place. (Phone camera pic)
