Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts




And this was while Obama was president. I'm surprised the Republican power brokers didn't get him fired for saying that. 

  • This seems noteworthy this morning. 

  • This is regarding the drive-by at the wrong house. Ages 19, 18 and 17.

  • We all know the intersection where I-35 goes over 380 as you go into Denton. Well, there was a little trouble there yesterday. Honestly, I don't know how this could happen. 

  • The only interesting thing about the Ennis water situation is that we get to see a random mayor on TV. He's 29.  


  • Oh, my. The trial was to begin yesterday. 

  • Anyone with half a brain knew this film was a lie, so it's really no surprise that this news came about once the director was sued by one of the "mules." 

  • I mentioned yesterday that Hunter Biden's lawyer had already filed a Notice of Pardon in his criminal cases to have the indictment dismissed.  The government responded yesterday saying, in essence, "Sure, nothing can happen to him because of pardon, and we can't go forward with the prosecution, but that doesn't mean the indictment just disappears." Honestly, no one is really sure how all this works from a procedural standpoint. 

  • The Business Second™.  They make Chocxw chocolate -- which I've never heard of. 

  • The Entertainment Second™.  The guy from “Jon & Kate Plus 8” has upgraded at that position.

  • I thought all the Texas votes have been counted, but there was one straggler according to The Dallas Morning News today.


  • For Ticket fans and former Ticket fans.  But the story is behind a paywall. On Wednesdays, he has been telling about his experience in rehab which is ironically entertaining. 

  • Found this time waste website in the Washington Post: "Between 2009 and 2012, iPhones had a built-in 'Send to YouTube' button in the Photos app. Many of these uploads kept their default IMG_XXXX filenames, creating a time capsule of raw, unedited moments from random lives . . . . [This man created] a bot that crawled YouTube and found 5 million of these videos [which had almost no hits].  Watch them. . . ordered randomly."

Random Monday Morning Thoughts






This was actually a Northwest ISD bus. Ten high schoolers managed to get off and escape injury. 

  • It's not really surprising that the President pardoned his son since I think all of us would do the same. But I am surprised that he issued a statement saying he did it because of "selective prosecution."   Sheesh. Just say the pardon is something he wants to do as a father or, heck, just say nothing at all. 

    • But I would like to be a defense lawyer who gets to file a "Notice of Pardon" as was done last night. (PDF). 

    • Trump's response below. Get ready.

  • The pardon will overshadow the bigger news over the weekend that an absolute nut, with no qualifications other than a being a Trump yes-man, will be in charge of the FBI. He will let Trump turn it into the SS.



    • What could go wrong with a guy who wrote a "children's book" defending Trump, and signed them with the QAnon slogan?

  • "The total judgment amount of $60,650,000 includes exemplary damages of $50 million against Texas Live!, $5 million against Inner Parish Security Corporation and $500,000 against the security guard, Hasan Perryman, according to court documents," per the Star-Telegram.   The plaintiffs lawyer was Brian Butcher with the Noteboom Law Firm. I'm not sure how tort reform will slash the damages, but it will. 

  • On a pretty normal looking street in North Richland Hills, a drive by shooting at the "wrong" house killed a 52 year old man.  Three arrests have been made but no names have been released.

  • In another Trump appointment, he named hiss son-in-law's father, who Trump had to pardon from a felony conviction, as ambassador to France.

  • The Aggies put up no fight against the Evil Empire on Saturday, but they might have known they were doomed with this state legislator showed his support. (And he has his name on his vest.)  If you don't remember him, this will refresh your memory.

  • Texas is a 2.5 point favorite over George in the SEC Championship game.  SMU is also 2.5 over Clemson.

  •  I presume there was more to it last night than just "smoke showing from the chimney."

  • Thanksgiving gone awry: 
    • On Wednesday evening:

    • "Two people are dead, another critically wounded in a shooting along Broadmoor Drive in Fort Worth" last night. Fox4Terry was there.

    • Also last night.  This was an argument between two guys "who knew each other" with the shooting happening in a residential neighborhood.


  • Legal stuff with a local flavor: The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals threw out the confession of a juvenile on Wednesday due to the investigative techniques of a former Texas Ranger who used to be assigned to Wise County.

  • At the Hilton Garden Inn in Houston on Wednesday.

  • I first became aware of her because of this video showing her typing up Trump's tweets as he dictated them.  But I didn't know she also funneled what was going on in social media to him unabated, Gift link.
