The NFL Channel this week has been running a documentary on the old video football game called "Techno Bowl". Since I never played (I think it was actually after my time), I only casually watched the first couple of minutes. But lo and behold, the name of former Bridgeport, TCU, and NY Jet great Kyle Clifton popped up on the screen in the first few minutes.

Speaking Of Police Restraint

With police shootings in the news, I thought I'd be fair and balanced and show some police restraint by college cops. Note to kid: I wouldn't try this out in the real world.  Your face would end up on the pavement as the officer prepares to write, "Suspect approached in confrontational manner and officer felt threatened." (Language warning.)

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

• Weird case in a north Fort Worth neighborhood yesterday afternoon where a cop "ride along" got out of the cop car to chase burglary suspects only to have a neighbor come to his aid and shoot the suspects.  The police spokesman said, "What we have here is a mess." Yeah, you sure do. 
• Not far away, over on 377 in Keller, a cop was fatally shooting a shoplifting suspect in, of all places, Kohl's. 
• "McAllen, Texas (AP) - Three people were found wounded, two fatally, in a vehicle that was fired upon by a Texas state trooper in a helicopter." Whoa!!! How is this story not at the top of the news?
• What's with all the trigger happy police this year?
• I don't know if it is the "perfect storm" but to name it "Frankenstorm," as it is predicted to hit the northeast on Halloween week, is pretty clever. 
• Had the Neighbor Cat bust through a window screen to try and get at the Family Cat yesterday evening. Chaos ensued. 
• Saw a guy yell at a lady for cutting him off at a gas pump at 287/51 in Decatur. I doubt if I'd ever get that worked up over a couple of minutes. 
• The Battle of the Big Sandy doesn't feel like much of a battle this year. 
• I wonder if there are any time capsules buried in Wise County that were supposed to be dug up by now but were simply forgotten about.
• I've got to go back to the doctor today to confirm my high blood sugar. Some type of glucose test? I'm not sure I like the way this is sounding. 
• But I'm having to "fast". It's not exactly 40 days and 40 nights, but I don't like it. 
• Dallas is only a 1.5 point underdog against the Giants? That's a lock bet for the Giants, isn't it?

I don't think anyone wants to touch this.

Republican Richard Mourdock, candidate for Indiana's US Senate seat said Tuesday during a debate that when a woman is impregnated during a rape, 'it's something God intended.' He was asked during the final minutes of the debate whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest.

To be fair, he's saying that the life was intended by God, not the assault. Nevertheless, I figured the guy would get pummeled for the remarks. Then radio commentator Mark Davis said the guy was absolutely right and had the courage to say it.  I thought there would be a fairly big firestorm after that, but everyone pretty much has let it go.  I think it just makes everyone uncomfortable.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

• Photo of Granbury woman who set record for breast milk donation. 
• I never been in an HOV lane.
• Police are at again -- shooting a man in Lewisville last night.
• Jane Roe, of Roe v. Wade, has cut a commercial saying "Do not vote for Barack Obama. He murders babies." There's nothing like a well reasoned and thoughtful opinion to sway the masses. 
• What a crazy motorcycle death in Decatur this morning -- but the motorcyclist survived. 
• I kept seeing some commercial which would ends with a gal singing "This girl is on fiiiiiirrrrreeee."  I just realized that's Alicia Keys. 
• I predict the cold front will hit at 3:15 p.m. 
• Texas' "Rainy Day Fund" now has $8.1 billion in it. To me, that means Texans are overtaxed. 
• Mrs. LL is going to be out of town this weekend and asked me what I was going to do. I broke out into the "Wobble" dance in response. I don't think she was amused. 
• BagOfNothing posted a video of a "bounce pass" in football (a lateral that looks like a pass but which bounces once before it gets to the receiver.) You old timers help me out. I remember that play being run in a game in the Cotton Bowl one time. It was the exact same line up, but when the receiver "caught" it, he stomped three yards back in disgust like it was an incomplete pass before turning and hurling it down the field. Anyone? 
• Lots of talk of a homeless man body-slamming a guy "on PCP" who was attacking a cop. Channel 11 had the story but there seems something suspicious about the video. There are several seconds missing and the cop doesn't look to be in that much distress when we finally see the homeless guy finally with his hands on the attacker. 
• The only way I knew the World Series was on last night was when I switched over to Fox 4 to watch the news. 
• Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama.

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

• The government doesn't create jobs? Really? Take out all the government jobs in Wise County and the number of private sector jobs drops dramatically. Those government workers spend money. 
• From Time this week: "If Obama can win either Virginia or Ohio, he is virtually assured of four more years."
• Now I've got to go back to the doctor due to possible high blood sugar. I'm falling apart, I tell ya. Falling apart!
• Donald Trump plans to announce a bombshell against the President today. Speculation is that it is a draft of divorce papers of the Obamas from 12 years ago that were never filed.  If that it is true, Trump cements himself as the most despicable person in America.
• The fastest road in America (85 mph) opens in Texas today. I've got to go to San Antonio next month and it'll be like NASCAR (without the beer and cussing.)
• If Sean Lee is indeed out for the year, you Cowboy fans might want to adopt a different team. They're done. 
• Saw someone on Facebook from Wise County last night say she was going to "research" that "accusation" that Mitt Romney is a Mormon. 
• I'm about worn out on this "Gangnam Style".
• Wise County  might be setting records with early voting. I don't want to discourage anyone from doing so, but you realize there's nothing to really vote on, right? We can all stay how and Romney still gets all of Texas' delegates.
• "Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said pregnancies resulting from rape are part of God's plan, tearfully explaining that he only supports abortions when a mother's life is in danger."  Is he right? 
• Not to be callous, but I was surprised to learn that Jerry Jones' mother was alive. (She passed away yesterday.)
• "Did you hear about the funeral for Big Tex? It cost 16 coupons to be admitted." (Insert Hal Jay wheeze laugh)
