Spiderman On The Topic Of Double Jeopardy
Edit: And a shout out to a commenter who noted that Spidey is flashing a "hook 'em horns" sign.Edit #2: I found another angle of the screaming "No! No! No!" Paris Hilton supporter I posted earlier, and was surprised to see, at the end, yet another "hook 'em horns" sign by a guy. There must be another meaning.
My Crazy Dream Last Night
For some reason I joined the army and went through a boot camp that was "laid back" (a reference to new Cowboys coach Wade Phillips' style?) Anyway, the drills included throwing golf balls at an abandoned two story shopping center. (Insane, huh?)
But the craziest bit was when I found that someone had taken a picture of me and other recruits standing in a line stark naked awaiting to get our physicals. Oddly, I was the only one who had a digital copy of the photo. So I camaraderie commandeered a computer and loaded the pic onto it, emailed it to a buddy who also appeared in the picture (I figured he'd laugh), and then deleted the pic. I walked by that work station about 20 minutes later only to see the secretary who was responsible for the computer staring at the screen and then back at me, alternatively, with disgust. It then dawned on me that a copy of the email had gone to her "sent mail" file. Sheesh. I apologized and asked her to delete it.
About thirty minutes later I went back to her computer to discover that she was gone. I looked at the screen and read "Your funny photo has been uploaded to break.com" (meaning that my neekid body had been uploaded to a funny web site.)
Can I puuuuhhhllleeeze dream I'm on a beach somewhere?
It Was 20 Years Ago Today . . .

. . . that Baby Jessica was rescued from a well in Midland. If I remember correctly, it was a Friday evening. Anyway, she was on the Today Show this morning.
Edit: Sheesh. I could have sworn they said 20 years ago today. I TIVO'd so I'll watch it when I get home, but I guess I'm wrong. Maybe I was groggy.
Press Conference Giggle
Don't worry about the subject matter, but this exchange at a press conference yesterday is pretty funny (or something like that): Q Thank you, Mr. President. Yesterday you called for a deadline for U.N. action on Kosovo. When would you like that deadline set? And are you at all concerned that taking that type of a stance is going to further inflame U.S. relations with Russia? And is there any chance that you're going to sign on to the Russian missile defense proposal?
PRESIDENT BUSH: Thanks. A couple of points on that. First of all, I don't think I called for a deadline. I thought I said, time -- I did? What exactly did I say? I said, "deadline"? Okay, yes, then I meant what I said. Source.6.10.2007
Finale

I had only recently begun watching The Sopranos, and I wasn't going to miss tonight's season finale that just ended.
Uh.........what the heck was that?
Edit: Just saw this on another blog.

Some People Have A Fear Of High Overpasses

This story will not alleviate those fears. (And, man, those are some high overpasses at I-35 and 820 in South Fort Worth. And by looking at the satellite image, I think he was on the highest one - westbound 20 to go southbound on 35.)

Channel 11 Finds New Towns In Wise County
Wow

On my "What's Up With SMU?" post from a few days ago, someone has commented representing themselves as "Meaghan's mother". It looks real.

Those Eyes Tell A Story

This woman was found dead in a park in Haltom City yesterday (about a mile north of 820/Beach Street for those of you who know where I'm talking about.)
Isn't it odd how we'll look at her, consider her criminal record, her horrible appearance, and then move on without giving her a second thought? Did she ever have a chance? Do we chalk it up to "personal responsibility" and then go home and watch our flat screens? Do you look at her with pity or apathy?
She had a name. Rebecca.
Star Telegram story.
Decatur Under Attack? (Joking)

It felt like it around 12:30 this afternoon when four military helicopters buzzed the town. This War on Terror is getting serious.
Edit: One commentor reminded me of this story: "Feb. 25, 1988: Ten killed and eight burned when a Chinook CH-47D helicopter crashes near Chico during a routine flight from Fort Hood to Fort Sill, Okla." There's not much on the Internet about it.
Mutual Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom (But Better)
I linked to this on BagOfNothing.com's blog a couple of weeks ago, but I don't think I did it justice. I normally don't care about things like nature, dirt, animals, blood, etc. but this video is incredible. It gets going about two minutes into it. We have lions vs. some buffalo looking things vs crocodiles.
Once you get into it, you will not leave it. Trust bu-bear. What?
I Know Some Law Stuff
I Wouldn't Want To See This On 380

I'd seen bits and pieces about this story for a couple of days but this morning I finally paid attention. Someone emailed it to me, and ABC's "Good Morning American" played the 911 tapes of people screaming "A truck is dragging a man in a wheel chair" - for four miles.
That's crazy.
