I couldn't believe the number of arrests back in the summer, and was even more stunned that the grand jury went along with it. The final conviction number was zero.

• I think the Evading case might be a little shaky, but that's nuts to be doing that speed on North Tarrant Parkway at 8:53 a.m. Story. 
  
  
  
• This guy is truly despicable. And whatever his plans would be for the position of Railroad Commissioner, they're not good. 
  
  
  
• The comments on Twitter were about what you would expect.  Side note: The fact that this is a federal charge with a very rare RICO allegation seems odd to me.  The underlying crimes (very vaguely described with no details) at least had names that would typically be state charges.

• I've never really had much of a fascination with the "Epstein Files", but it's beyond bizarre that Trump, the Attorney General, and the FBI Director summoned Rep. Lauren Boebert to, of all places, the Situation Room yesterday in order to put pressure on her to vote "no" on releasing the files. • I thought it was pretty cool when I heard that Paradise and Boyd would face each other in the volleyball playoffs (in Chico) for the right to advance in the state playoffs. But I accidentally ended up being enthralled last night by the point by point update from the Messenger.  Boyd won the first two sets and looked to be on their way to a three set sweep. Then Paradise shockingly won the next two sets, and was leading 13-9 in the final set (first one to 15) when Boyd went on a six point run to win 15-13. Good stuff.

• Here's the original post that linked to a story saying the officer, who they named, was guilty because her "gait" was a "95% match" to the person seen in video surveillance. I hope she sues them into oblivion. 
  
  
  
• Since it the responsibility of almost all of Texas county-wide political candidates to file with either the local Republican or Democratic party,  those party officials should have a constantly update website telling us who has filed to run for office.  But it is pretty rare to see it.
