Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts




The answer is "no", and this guy wasn't executed. But he died on May 26th of this year. 

  • Developing national news out of Dallas this morning: "DALLAS — Two ICE detainees were killed and one person was injured at a Dallas ICE facility Wednesday morning and one shooter is dead, police sources tell WFAA." Most reports are saying that that shooter died on a roof from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  But the victims are "detainees"?

  • Aggies making national news.


  • A bad accident on FM 730 in Azle around noon yesterday left two dead.  

  • No reason was given by the city.  He earns $352,612 (as of 2021).


  • The courtroom artist was also doing bad things with his own drawing instruments. 


  • Tell me about indoctrination again. Walters is Oklahoma's State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He last made news by ordering 55,000 "Trump Bibles" to be placed in every school. 


  • Trump did a 180 on Russia/Ukraine yesterday. He went from "you don't have any cards" and "land swaps" to a position that Ukraine can now completely push Russia out of Ukraine and even take some of Russia's land as a bonus.  Make it make sense. 


  • Jimmy Kimmel returned to the air last night as Trump, speaking on behalf of the U.S. Government, doubled down on his pressure to remove him from the airwaves with a rant on social media.

  • A statue of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein has been temporarily erected on the National Mall. It's entitled “Best Friends Forever” and it's legal. It has a permit to remain on the grounds until Sunday. 



  • We are so doomed: 
    • Justice Department official, and all around crazy, attorney Ed Martin met with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on September 12th.

    • Three days later, Martin sent a threatening letter on Justice Department letterhead to the lawyer of an FBI agent who sued Alex Jones because of Jones' lies over Sandy Hook:

    • And Alex Jones celebrated it. 

  • COVID can still get you. 

  • Finally.

  • The Dallas Morning News is now owned by the same company that owns the lead paper in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.  This is not good.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts




The Pope in the Oval Office along with Bo, the President's dog (who was born in Boyd, Texas.)

  • I don't know if this will be a permanent sight as part of the Wise County courthouse renovation, but the lighting of the inside of the bell tower is really cool.  I've never seen that done. 

  • Death sentences are becoming less frequent, but there was one in Tarrant County yesterday. "The four-hour deliberation period included a takeout Jimmy John’s lunch and a smoke break." (Star-Telegram gift link.)



  • A body was found at 820 and 377 in the creek that runs through Iron Horse Golf Course. That's all we know.


  • This is really a weird case that happened back in July, and I still don't have a grasp of what is going on. Six defendants appeared in federal court yesterday. "There are at least 16 people who have been charged in the case."

  • Speaking of a verdict to be forthcoming . . .

  • Disney, which had cratered to government pressure last week, has decided to put Jimmy Kimmel back on the air beginning tonight. But Sinclair, which owns 30 of the underlying ABC affiliates nationwide, won't agree to do so.  No word yet from Nexstar which owns 32 affiliates and actually started the whole boycott.

    Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang yesterday on CNBC. 

  • Developing: The Secret Service just announced that "it had dismantled a massive network of electronic devices in the New York City area that investigators believe was used to threaten U.S. officials and was capable of cyberattacks that could knock out large sections of cellular communications. Investigators found the devices in vacant apartments" and other locations. They claim to have discovered 300 servers and 100,000 SIM cards housed in at least five sites in the New York tristate area.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts




The "Clock Boy" incident in Irving.

  • Metroplex quick hits: 
    • Six injured when a car plowed into a restaurant of Friday evening in Southlake. 

    • I missed this last week. Video

    • Walmart warehouse in Sanger was damaged last night by storms. . 

  • I warned on Friday that if this happens, we've reached a new level of "It's Over." Well, it happened.  

    • Then it got worse. Much worse. There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes, but Trump did it on Saturday. The five alarm fire continues. 


    • This is Trump's choice to replace the U.S. Attorney in Virginia who will indict who he wants, evidence be damned. She's been busy white-washing the Smithsonian museums for him.  

  • We are watching the death of democracy by a thousand cuts. 

  • So the soon-to-be  Border Czar was just taking $50,000 in a paper bag on video? And the FBI closed the investigation upon Trump's election? 


  • The plan is nuts, and the fact that Trump's picture is on the card is nuttier. 

  • Not measuring a problem doesn't mean it's no longer a problem.

  • That "allegedly" is doing a lot of work here. Paxton doesn't even know if the the professor actually kicked the girl out of class. (Here's the video of the first part, however.)
