Random Monday Morning Thoughts





Rhome Police Chief Brandon Davis removed citizens Kenny Crenshaw and Ramah Burn from a Rhome city council meeting, (Video), and this action would cause him to be indicted and arrested a few months later. The case would be prosecuted by the Texas AG's office and, two years later, Davis would be found not guilty by a Wise County jury. 

  • This was a cluster. 

  • You knew this was coming. But, man, that was a big tree. 

  • This is a different affair than the one that was publicized during his impeachment trial. 

  • DPS troopers have been dispatched from the border to locations around the state.  There's lots of money in their budget for overtime for Operation Lone Star and its going to be used. 

    • There's about to be more of these incidents,

  • Charlie Kirk stuff:
    • You know, we all grieve differently.  Video

    • Look, no one's death deserves to be celebrated, and you have every right to feel disgusted if you see someone doing so online.  But it seems really strange that people are getting fired left and right over offensive posts. Being offended has always been a part of being an American. Anyone remember Westboro Baptist Church protesting at funerals?


    • And worse, if it is a government employee who is guilty of a reprehensible post, they can't be fired for that. Despite widespread belief otherwise, "hate speech" is, in fact, constitutionally protected speech. 



    • This is nuts. 

    • This is nuts.

    • She wasn't arrested at Texas Tech for her speech, she was arrested for a Class C assault - punishable by fine only. For the governor to say otherwise is, well, nuts. 

    • Social media might be the end of us all, but the fact that one of the biggest social media sites amplifies craziness is only going to speed up the process. 

    • Ted Cruz was showboating this weekend.

    • Well, I'll be. Story.

  • Fox News' Brian Kilmeade went viral on Saturday for advocating euthanizing the undesirables in our society. Yes, Brian Kilmeade really said this. He later apologized.:

  • A faithful reader pointed out to me that there are some rumors that former State Rep. Lynn Stucky possibly making an attempt to get his job back from Rep. Andy Hopper. Can Stucky pass a simple water bill? 

  • We've now got a Jerry Jones starter-kit in the NFL.  The new owner of the Colts is on the sidelines listening to the coaches audio feed and taking notes. 

  • Aggie vs. Notre Dame might be a lock for game of the year. That was fantastic.

Random Friday Morning Thoughts




It was the week where we learned of the crazy murder of Dr. Kendra Hatcher in Uptown in Dallas, and the first inklings that it could be a murder-for-hire in a a love triangle. 

  • Woah! Trump just dropped a bombshell on Fox and Friends early this morning. No other media outlet had so much as hinted that a person was in custody for the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Authorities have now scheduled a news conference for 8:30 a.m. CST.  



  • UPDATE: Forty minutes later, major media outlets said the person in custody is Tyler Robinson, 22 years old, of Nevada. 



    • Just last night, they had no idea who it was.  Authorities held a press conference at 8:30 p.m. and really said nothing.  Instead, they just released a video of him walking through a neighborhood (here) and a video of him jumping off roof (here).

    • This was pretty clear.

    • If you've seen any of them, you'll be convinced that the general population of the U.S. is too dumb for this country to make it long term.


  • This was a cluster last night:


  • They handled it a little differently down there. 


  • Ummkay.  Not exactly a NATO hardline response.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts




The link is now gone but it involved a 36 year old woman from Newark. Other than a speeding ticket, no "reckless driving case" was ever filed.

  • This is horrible. What else can be said?




    • After a false alarm by the FBI Director, we learned yesterday evening that the shooter is still on the loose. And that's pretty amazing. Edit: It was just announced that authorities “do have good video footage of this individual.” They intend to use technology to identify him.  If that doesn't work, they will release the video and ask for the public's help.   They also announced that they have recovered the murder weapon: "It is a high-powered, bolt-action rifle." Oddly, the found it in a "wooded area" where the shooter fled to.



    • We live in a far different time than when the Zapruder film was kept under lock and key for years. Side note: I'm proud to say I haven't watched the video referenced below. I saw too many people post online, "I just watched it, and I wish I hadn't."


    • It's hard to keep up with all of them:

  • For a brief period of time yesterday, news coverage of the Charlie Kirk shooting was interrupted by breaking school shooting news. .

  • A Wise County missing persons case is getting some DFW coverage.

     



  • "Officers responded to the Walmart at 8520 N. Beach St. about 10:30 p.m. A 911 caller reported that the man covered himself in lighter fluid and set himself on fire in the parking lot, and then ran inside the store."


  • Oklahoma inmate hangs out of back of jail van. Video. 

  • Just wait until the national media finds out he was an illegal alien.

     

  • "He is a historian of the United States and Texas who specializes in transnational approaches to race, labor, capitalism, and protest movements"  according to the school's website. But I'm not sure his comments, which have First Amendment protections from his employer, deserve firing.
