Random Monday Morning Thoughts

The Messenger tried for months to get the offense reports on what happened out there, but the Wise County Sheriff's office would never release them.

  • That's a pretty dramatic photo from Friday. "A cell phone worker is in critical condition after coming into contact with a high-voltage wire at the top of a cell tower in Burleson."

  • Oh, my. He was transported to Parkland. "While fleeing, the teen jumped over a concrete security fence into the power supply terminal, at which point he was electrocuted and a fire started, police said." But it all started when police were called because the teen was threatening to "hurt himself."

  • The cry to "round up all those Mexicans" is about to become worse and worse.

  • So we are basically going to make a reality show out of the round ups?

  • The equivalent of the Brown Shirts/Stormtroopers are coming. Story

  • It's always a big deal when a police officer gets indicted for murder in the line of duty. It should be a big deal when the case is suddenly dismissed. The Tarrant County D.A.'s office didn't even release a statement. The case just quietly went away.

  • Trump and Colombia got into a verbal skirmish yesterday. During the middle of it, the White House released an official statement and misspelled the country's name.

  • Told you it would happen. But it was a close vote on Friday night.  VP Vance had to be called in to break the tie.

  • Did I mention how the Tarrant County Republican Chairman is crazy?

  • The Business Second™.  I don't know if this is a big deal or not. "Chinese startup DeepSeek – which has soared to #1 on Apple's app store chart – presented a ChatGPT-like AI model called R1, which has all the familiar abilities, operating at a fraction of the cost of OpenAI's, Google's or Meta's popular AI models."

  • In the official Twitter post by the Cowboys on Friday announcing their new head coach, they couldn't somehow couldn't find a photo that wasn't reversed.

  • So I finally watched Landman.  It's both horrible and entertaining.

It's Friday - Let's Get Out of Here

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

Yep, Fox News actually did this

  •  I'm skeptical of this big news, but I don't have any concrete reason to be.

  • This should never even have to make it to the Supreme Court, but it probably will. And once there, Trump tends to get whatever he wants.

  • When the Blanco River flooded near Wimberley 2015 in the Hill Country, eight people died and the bodies of two children were never recovered.. This is beginning to the have that feel to it.

  • The confirmation vote will be this evening. He'll be approved.

  • Greg Abbott has sent a strongly worded letter. Really. Good luck with all that.

  • Weird little story out of Wichita Falls. You don't find a bomb alongside a creek everyday.

  • Trump heads to California today to see the wildfire damage. Prepare for some wheels off moments like last time if he and the governor get together.

  • Nothing matters. You can enter into a plea deal for bribery and then get your government job back paying $218,581.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

I use to throw questions out to the masses when I had comment section.  I still think about this one. I'm not sure I've ever been called an idiot quite so much as after this one.

  • I'm not sure how there were no serious injuries out of this, but there were not.

  • Schools are officially back from Christmas break.

  • "Crews accessed the elevator through the top, rescued the woman, and placed her into a working elevator next to the one she was stuck in. From there, she was brought to the top floor, where she could safely exit onto solid ground."

  • Wise County's new state rep is quickly demonstrating he's a nut.  His new bill will allow anyone who commits a federal crime (with a specific mention and nod towards Insurrection) to run to their local Texas sheriff who must approve the federal warrant before the Feds can arrest him.

  • The Texas legislature rolled out a proposed $332 billion (with a b) budget yesterday. Noteworthy:

  • Man does bit in Carrolton. Video.

  • In Fort Worth yesterday on I-35. "No major injuries."

  • A Play
    • Act I

    • Act II

  • Of course.

  • January 6th will be whitewashed into a National Holiday by the time all is said and done.

  • For Decatur folks:  If you might be interested in an update on Eula basketball coach Josh Fostel, the son of our late district judge, here you go.
