Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts




I was wrong about basically all of that. (The debate involved incumbent David Dewhurst, Dan Patrick, and two others. Patrick would go on to win in a run-off.)

  •  I posted the mugshot yesterday, but Fort Worth PD has now released various footage of the DWI chase and crash near West 7th.  It's wild. And it's amazing no one was killed. What a moron. 

  • In one of the weirdest Attorney General opinion requests I've ever seen, the Jacksboro PD asked AG Ken Paxton's legal opinion regarding whether a liquor store in the city was selling booze too cheaply. Request is here. Paxton's answer, which was released yesterday and is no answer at all, is here.

  • Identified. All three were from Georgia.  


  • Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that the nutcases were telling us that COVID vaccine was secretly a deep state microchip injection plan? But they now celebrate this?



     
  • The New York Times did some math for us which is really surprising. 



  • Ok, that's a funny line. 

  • How is Nikki Haley doing against Trump in Texas? According to a just released poll from the respected UH Hobby School of Public Affairs, not well at all.  

  • Man, Biden's Weaponized Justice Department has really gotten off track. 

  • The MAGA extremists have taken over control of the Tarrant County Republican party from the normal Republicans.  No way this lady would have been invited to speak in the past. 

  • A weird story of an art "heist" out of Wichita Falls.

  • The biggest case against Trump is the January 6th federal case pending in D.C.   On January 9th, the D.C. appellate court heard oral arguments on the silly Absolute Immunity defense. Everyone thought we would have a decision in days. We are still waiting.

Random Monday Morning Thoughts



Wouldn't this cause the county to implode if it happened today? And how did those kids survive this deviltry!!!!

  • "Three U.S. service members were killed in Jordan on Sunday and at least 34 others were injured in what the Biden administration said was a drone attack from an Iran-backed militia." We'll going to do something to Iran in response, but no one knows what. But watch this.



  • He couldn't keep his mouth shut and acted like a baby in front of the jury. You could see this one coming from a mile away. He's not defamed her since. 


    • Lying is getting expensive these days.

  • Rethinking life's choices. It happened around University and West 7th. . 


  • Border wars. We live in the dumbest times. 

  • Hey, Wise County Rep. Ronny Jackson has embarrassed us again! The White House Clinic while he was there was handing our fentanyl, Ambien and ketamine like candy.  They didn't have the "best people" but they apparently had the best drugs. 



  • Just waking up in Arlington on Saturday morning to cop armored vehicle announcing over a loud speaker that a search warrant was about to be executed. Video

  • I can't say I've ever listed one iota to MAGA extremists Ben Shapiro, but my timeline was full on Friday that he released a cringe-worthy rap video. Which . . .

  • Very legal nerdy stuff: If you want to watch a painful trial with a defense lawyer struggling, you much watch the ongoing trial of the "Oxford Mom" who is accused of not doing enough to stop her mass murdering son. I can't take my eyes off the female defense lawyer.  She is woefully in over her head and, what's worse, she is trying to do it all by herself.  There may be another lawyer beside her, but that guy does nothing.  And if you don't do anything else,  just watch this at the end of the trial on Friday to just get a feel of how wheels off it all is. And the judge won't assert herself by telling  them all to just shut up. The trial should be live on YouTube this morning here.

  • So how'd COVID work out for me? The onset was very strange. I bet I went four days thinking it was nothing other than allergies. It was irritating, but I was easily able to function. On day five, a Monday, the chills hit me at work, and I wanted nothing more than to go home in a car with the heater blazing and crawl into bed when I got there. And that's what I did. A COVID home test lit up like a Christmas tree. My temperate ran a little under a 100 so no big deal.  The next day kept me bed ridden and my temperate in the evening hit 102.5 which scared me to death. An oxygen reading was 92%. I felt a huge weird pain all over me. The next two days were slightly better and then, on Friday, it was magically all gone. I couldn't believe it.

The experts were wrong. 

  • Having to present a triple funeral seems like an unimaginable task That's what happens this afternoon as Dr. Heath Smith and his two sons are laid to rest with services at First Baptist Church in Decatur. 



  • A 23 year old stole a small plane from Adidson airport but crashed it in Fannin County. "CBS News Texas obtained radio transmissions between the pilot and the Addison Tower, where he informs the tower controller he is not going to listen to their instructions and plans on heading to east Texas." He then turned north.

  • The government of Alabama put an ill fitting mask on a guy last night to kill him after all last second appeals were denied. It went ghoulishly.


    • One of the most shocking parts of the story is one that is hardly mentioned:

  • A church caved in on itself in New London, Connecticut. No deaths or injuries.


  • I don't know if cancelling school is the best option, but schools do need to something to celebrate this historic event. But I'm hearing some schools aren't even planning to have the students go outside to view it with the special lenses. That seems wrong. 

  • His testimony was uneventful as it was short. It lasted three minutes (including cross) and the judge told the jury to disregard what was was easily 85% of his testimony as non-responsive. And Trump didn't even whine about the ruling.


  • I had no idea the famous singer's dad was DA of New Orleans for 30 years. I feel dumb.

  • Let me just say there is no way this will happen,

     

  • When I see headlines like this, I always think of what evidentiary hurdles I'm going to have to go through to get the video admitted. Anyway, the guy is 32 and is on YouTube as "Gixxer Brah" posting nutty videos.


  • We had a big upset in men's tennis in the Australian Open overnight, but Fox and Friends not only misspelled the winner's name, but also had another big typo.

  • I'll position this Star-Telegram story about a local lab solving cases through Forensic Genetic Genealogy. 

  • Time which has passed since the Wise County Sheriff's Office, despite having a full male DNA profile, has failed to solve the murder of Lauren Whitener in her home at Lake Bridgeport: 4 years and 214 days.
