I guess you missed what I was saying Barry. The Constitution does not specify the form a declaration of war must take. For the last roughly 65 years it has been standard to use an authorization of military action as a declaration of war. There is no law saying that a resolution (passed by a majority of both parties) can not serve as a declaration of war. Funny how you are up in arms over this but President Obama's clearly unauthorized actions in Libya (which I do support) were fine with you. Do you plan on attempting to regain any intellectual honesty at any point or is this your official declaration that you will now only spout Democratic talking points?

Actually, the ability to bring war against Iraq started in 1990 with the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The action of the U.S. led coalition forces was allowed by the Congress and the United Nations. U.S. led hostilities against Iraq stopped once the Iraqi forces left Kuwait. However, there was only a cease fire and never a declaration to end the war.

The act of invading Iraq a second time was also blessed by the U.N because of multiple violations of sanctions put in place by the U.N. the US was prepared to lead the way with or without assistance. However, the U.N. should have allowed the Coalition to finish the job in 1991. Since this did not happen, the Iraqi dictatorship was allowed to continue things such as trading oil for weapons and profitting off of medical supplies provided by the U.N.

It seems to me that you might well be safer living in an American prison than in Mexico generally.

And you would be wrong. Just stay away from the wrong places at the wrong times. Mexico in general is very safe. Back alleys of border towns and tourist traps are not, nor is it good to be in a place where the drug routes are being contested. I go there as mush as I ever have, and have not had a single problem.

@Consilium ac prudentia: Why can't we stabilize our country first. We've been here over 200 years and and we still can't get a handle on it and you want to putz around half a world away.
And you need to study the Japanese people of that era better. They were fighting for the Emperor and when he gave them the order to stop, comply and rebuild they did out of discipline and respect. There is very little of that elsewhere in the world.
