SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launch Today

This is some pretty good stuff.

  • 29:45 Liftoff
  • 32:25 Booster separation
  • 37:30 Both boosters return simultaneously and land straight up. (Amazing.)
The remainder of the rocket was supposed to land on a barge. At the time of this posting, they aren't sure it made it.

Do you think they spewed any carbon into the atmosphere? I was just reading some stuff on Huffington Post and they say we have global climate catastrophic warming change because of carbon. That thing might be a contributor and I'm triggered.

Should I smoke some more weed or just read a different newspaper?

Let’s all pretend that Barry really cares about this.

I hope someone notified Hawaii before they shot that thing off.

Toward the end of the video they pan a crowd who are all cheering and celebrating. They are all men. What's up with that? Were the women all out making sandwiches at the moment of triumph?

Proof that private enterprise can do amazing things when you get out of their way with restrictions and regulations. Just like when you have your own unsecured email server.

A convertible in space? I've already seen that scene in the old movie Heavy Metal.

I think they said cost was like 90 milliom? Just wondering out loud how much it would have cost NASA? I would wager it would be over a billiom.

Most of the folks in the picture might have been men but they all work for Gwynne Shotwell -- a female engineer who runs that program.

And by the way, it was very cool. I am so happy for those folks that they pulled this off. It was one thing to get that huge rocket in the orbit they wanted but yet another to get the boosters back to earth intact.

Yep. The carbon discharge was huge but hey, they reusing the boosters.

With Tesla, Hyperloop and Space X and who knows what else, can we just make Elon Musk the Secretary of the Future for America? And just give him all the research funding he needs?
