This Is Comforting

People are driving around with grenades? That would certainly up the ante on road rage cases.

Ban open carry of semi-automatic grenades!

Some people are upping their road rage game. I need to get a rocket launcher.

If every driver knew that every other driver had a few grenades on them, then drivers would be more polite to each other.

Ban hand grenades.

It's an arm. And I've got the "right to bear arms" per the constitution, some would argue, regardless of whether or not the constitution writers could never envision such things.

Uh, the only thing to worry about on the highways are the thousands upon thousands who are wielding cell phones as instruments of distraction death. Nobody will be killed in North Texas today by a grenade. Several will die, as always at the hands of some super-important text message that takes precedent over life. Every day, without fail.

or the 28 DUI deaths per day because of the great work by your local defense attorney....YEA!!

12:53 good point, tongue in cheek. On a parallel thought, I love how Strict Constructionists argue that the Constitution should be taken at face value, no interpretation or viewing through the prism of modern times. That's why the frequent use of the Interstate Commerce Clause (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3), beginning with the Marshall Court, drives them insane. Yet they refuse to apply that same Strict Constructionist logic to the Second Amendment. Second Amendment in modern times with broad interpretation means automatic rifle with multiple high capacity clips can be in civilian hands, not a Strict Construction interpretation. Heck, you could own a 105mm Howitzer, if you could get your hands on one. A gun range in Oklahoma did and an errant shell went through their neighbors home. For you historians, George Washington put down the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794 with no major battle being fought. The few insurrectionists he encountered, he stripped them of their arms and sent them home, in spite of the 2nd Amendment adopted in 1791, three years earlier. If the Father of our Country thought it was in best interest of society to take that action based on circumstances in a particular situation, I think some rules reigning in Lee Harvey or Billy Jack owning a 50mm anti-tank gun would be okay in keeping with the Constitution and the Good of Society.

Coached the young man in high school football who died in this crash. He was 24yrs old, father of an eight month old daughter. He served in the military when he graduated from high school and came from a great family. He will be missed and wish there were more young men like him. The gear shift knob in his car was in the shape of a hand grenade...the media and our fears did the rest.
