A Personal Post For Local Wise County (And Courthouse) Folks

King Barnett has died.

He was an investigator under former DA Brock Smith.

And all around nice guy.

He died of cancer after a short but courageous fight. I once heard that the battle is not fight a fight at all because it is not fair.  And that is right.

Sad day in Wise County! King was a good man with a big heart that loved his family more than anything in the world. He was a man with a firm hand shake that was as good as any written contract a true man of his word. King was a man that meant what he said and said what he meant no guessing with him about where he stood. He will be missed by many. R.I.P. King, my friend.

I agree. Absolute straight shooter. Generous "to a fault" (generous where most of us wouldn't be)! Kind, thoughtful--a man of MANY good and honorable traits. He will be missed.
