Imagine what these school ratings would be if teachers had classes full of kids that sat still, paid attention, behaved to the extent a kid should, and were respectful and kind to others. Yes, lots of kids still are, but too many aren't. Sometimes, it's not fair to the kids to expect it, their situations in life might be lousy. But to blame schools and teachers is sad.

That's all nice and good, teacher friend. But the reality is that there is no discipline in schools anymore. We are told to reward students for expected behavior and blow off the bad in elementary schools. My kids go to high school where it's all swept under the rug based on how high their parents rank on the food chain.

1:07 for the win. Decatur at it's finest

It's not just Decatur. Boyd has a food chain as well.

Maybe you shouldn't have cut school funding Rep King.

1:07, 12:09 is not a teacher.

Decatur needs a new supt. One that cares for his teachers and one that treats all equal. He screws this entite dusyrict everytime he takes a pay raise and gives his chosen ones more more money. He also has that dumb ass board in his back pocket

True story. First grader throws a tantrum, picks up equipment and smashes it to the floor. Teacher takes kid to office, where the principal insists that "only praise words" should be used to handle the situation. Wouldn't want any negativity getting in the way of a first grader's day...such delicate little creatures must be made to feel coddled until they are about 30. Parent threatened the school later for not having equipment tied down so that her kid, when throwing and smashing it next time, won't be injured. It is a complete joke, a complete mess, the situation we put teachers in. And so, qualified teachers leave by the thousands, who can blame them; and those who take up the challenge get so discouraged and burned out they don't stick. Who can blame them? Thanks, parents. Thanks, thug music. Thanks, mixed martial arts and social media. We're not far from the point of no return.

It is Wise County folks. The school board members are mostly comprised of illiterate folks with a local business. It is a wonder their kids can read since the bar for success in this county is only to be born with a certain last name. The intelligent children from good families here always leave, make something of themselves, and county "populars" try to take credit. Wise county is a shit hole from which I'm embarrassed to be from. Boyd is quickly becoming the next Decatur but with less genetic makeup.

1) These west Texas football coach Supt. don't want a measurable grade put on their failing systems because people start asking too many questions. That's why they like the old system. There was no measurable difference between South Lake and Alvoid; they both "Met Standard" last time. (Remember: these Supt. are the same folks who want EVERY football team to make the "playoffs").
2) Most school board members run for two reasons: a) they can get themselves and little Johnny & Susie special treatment/perks, and b) to get their name on the construction plaque of a new school. (I hear that the Alvoid board is going to ask the taxpayers to pony up another 25 cents/$100 valuation for two gyms and an administration building. And they stacked their "committee" with people whose taxes are frozen and administrators who don't live in the district)

Looks like those draft horses brought their own feedbags.

The problem with Wise County Schools is that everybody reads and believes the Liberally Lean blog, Rage is on the school board, Barry thinks he's doing a public service, and Wise County teachers are batshit crazy. Hey, what's happening with justiceofthepeacegate?

One more piece of advice: don't shoot a police dog in Wise COunty.

Why does Alvord need another gym? Aren't they in trouble financially? Sounds like they need a new leader.

Slidell ISD is the worst.

Alvoid idiot: you couldn't be any more misinformed. The committee is made up of about thirty community members and less than four are of the age to have frozen taxes. Our coaches and administration actually spoke out against the 4 team playoff advancement. There are always gonna be certain board members with the wrong motivation, but we have a good group, doing good work. The board/administration isn't asking the taxpayers for anything. The committee has been tasked with assessing needs and determining what is reasonable and then they will present that to the voters. Maybe you should get involved instead of getting your information from the beauty shop or beer store crowd.

Hey 6:07
You must be on the committee (or your family is since y'all are all inbred up in Alvoid). Anyway my daughter has a friend from the Big A who says not only are they going to get two new gyms, but they are going to put so-called turf on the football field. I'm sure that will help with those campus grades your supt is belly aching about. And I will bet ANYONE on this blog $100 the stupid people in that town vote a tax increase on themselves for all that sports crap.
