I do believe that in our immediate area, the coaches for female athletes are as good as the coaches for male athletes. Does that mean they are equally good from district to district? Not at all! But within districts, I haven't seen many 'bad girls' coaches' vs 'good boys' coaches. If athletics are important in a district, it seems that they are equally important for both genders.
Maybe that comes from parents who don't want to see one level of quality for their sons and another for their daughters. Good luck to all our area teams that are still competing, and congrats to those who put out the effort for a season that has already ended.

How can this be, Aledo is only 1.5% African American?

Apparently you haven't had the opportunity to observe the Boyd Middle School girl's coaches. The girls could do as well without a coach.

Basketball, like football, takes something like the top 3 or 4 of each district. Don't know a lot about Western Hill's district, but it is probably the FWISD schools, so probably not a lot of competition there.

Western Hills also lost 78-4 and 78-18 during their regular season. Wow!

All playoffs should be limited to the top 2--AT MOST--in each district. Taking the top 3 or 4 is idiocracy.

some of this has to do with demographics. Poor neighborhood or district do not have student who can afford to play select ball, club ball, 7 on 7 as do the student who can afford it, as Aldeo does. Then the coaches are usually first year teacher who never played the sport. They are pressured into coaching basket ball to get the job and because the lower income district can not afford to pay for a quality coach. Western hill must have been 4th place out of how many in their district to make play offs. So they are not losers at all.
