Good Grief

And a state has no authority to not "accept" a refugee authorized entrance by the United States.

GOOD!

Can we do the same with the Mexicans?

I read your blog every day, and enjoy it. But I too don't want them here.

Barry you need to tread careful on this one. No telling what is going to happen before this Paris thing gets traction. I for one do not think it wise to bring refugees into the country at this time for several reasons main one being they do not like us. They like Isis even less or they would have stayed put. Does not mean they are not going to try and kill us once they get here. I think states have to right to disagree with the us govt. whe it comes to bringing in refugees. It will be interesting to see the legal battle that is coming. Abbott is a pretty smart dude whe it comes to the pen.

Under Obama's reign of terror, the majority of the legal immigrants into our country are muslim and it needs to stop. We don't want them here!

Nope. Too late. We are here to stay!!!JAJAJAJA

I love to read things like what you wrote. They sound so loving and Christian.

And exactly how is the good Gov. have planned to prevent this from happening?

Are we going to build a wall between Texas and New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana? Are we going to set up check points at every location where a highway/road crosses a state line? (That would go over real well at the TX/OK border on I 35)

And oh, by the way good citizens of TX, who do you think would be paying for this lunacy?

Anonymous said...

I'm convinced that you have shit for brains, brah.

Will Paris take them now?

Then maybe we shouldn't be a state.

Barry: Korematsu

Right or wrong, can anyone definitively show we would not be speaking Japanese but for Korematsu? And, oh yes, Democrat president and administration as well as a Democrat-packed Supreme Court. In fact, the only dissenting Justice was a Republican.

"Dr. Ben Carson gives a lesson on the human brain's 'big frontal lobes' saying allowing Syrian refugees into the United States requires a 'suspension of intellect'"

Hooray Governor Abbot! We don't want them here... Call it islamophobia, or discrimination against Muslims if you want... But their track record as a whole, says they don't endure peace... They strive for chaos on every front and level.

Take the chaos off the our boys, and let's exterminate the ISIS/ISIL bastards. Like the sun they are.

It's time to turn the sand into glass

Anonymous said...

I figured he couldn't actually do that but at least he's making a statement for most of the people he represents, don't hate Abbott because he has the balls to say what needs to be said. I'd hate to see another attack on US soil but if it did happen hopefully in will happen to some of you liberal weenies, I'm betting you guys would sing a different song afterwards.

WATCH: The Anti-Migrant Video Going Viral Across Europe

Katy Anders said...

I don't know. What happened Friday is awful and scary and needs to be addressed.

But these ISIS terrorists in Europe are basically action movie baddies, aren't they? - they don't want land, they aren't secretly trying to rob a bank, they just like killin'. And the only thing that makes sense to me is that they're hoping to provoke such a reaction by Western countries against domestic Muslim populations that it radicalizes those Muslim populations.

There's what? A few thousand of these terrorists, but 1.6 billion or so Muslims worldwide.

I hope we don't fall right into it.

So Runaway Bay is ok with you then?

If America is built on Judeo-Christian principles, then we should look to the Bible to help inform our decision on how to handle this. In that respect, the book is clear:

Lev. 19:33-34
When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Exodus 22:21
Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.

Deut. 10:17-19
For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.

Deut. 23:15-16
If a slave has taken refuge with you, do not hand them over to their master. Let them live among you wherever they like and in whatever town they choose. Do not oppress them.

Matthew 25:41-43 (these words are in red, FWIW)
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.

Heb. 13:1-3
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Yea, we'll have to triple the border guards at the WinStar Casino checkpoint. Those Okies look a lot like Syrians.

While the Governor is outlawing things, could he also block high winds, hail, and lightening from coming to Texas? He has as much chance of doing that as keeping Syrians out.

Thank you Greg Abbott!!!!!!!! Stay Texas strong!!!!!!

For the next 128 days you should post pics of the victims (along with their eulogy) to highlight the devastating effects of Islam on the world.

It would be better than the RTG's.

Regarding Abbot's (or any state's) "authority," this is from Abbot's letter to Obama: "Effective today, I am directing the Texas Health & Human Services Commission's Refugee Resettlement Program to not participate in the resettlement of any Syrian refugees in the State of Texas." A state's governor probably has the authority to direct state agencies, don't you think?

According to ABC News, one of the Paris bombers "appeared to have used a Syrian passport and a fake name to slip into Europe disguised as a refugee." Distributing thousands of unvetted and uninvestigated folks (that likely include a number of terrorists) across America fits the description of #idiocracy pretty well, wouldn't you say? It takes "government-assisted suicide" to a whole new level.

Even Barry will become concerned when a Syrian ISIS member smuggles 10 lbs. of highly enriched uranium into a Baylor football game and detonates it. The dreams back in the early 1950s of the Americans and Russians using a backpack nuclear devise has arrived. You dumb uneducated/non-scientific liberal arts Democrats can't grasp this.

Refugees from Syria are just as bad and dangerous as ISIS members learning Mexican Spanish, disguising themselves as Mexican illegals and paying a Coyote to smuggle them and their backpacks across the border.

911 will look like child's play. The times, they are achanging.

11:42 Thanks for posting a list of Scriptures that will get you beheaded if you can't apply them with some common sense! It is called the Bible not the GulliBible!

Oh, and not to forget Katy, it doesn't sound like you have much hope for the Muslims of the world if you think they can be radicalized so easily! I thought they were mostly peaceful and hated terrorism just as much as us? Or maybe you are finally displaying some Islamaphobic thoughts and your feeling guilty.

I wonder if native Americans regret welcoming Europeans hundreds of years ago?

Texas isn't the only state. There are at least 10 governors saying the same thing.

I suggest Rhome and Newark open their doors for the Syrians. They will raise the IQ of both cities by 20 points.

Anonymous said...

I think Katy was speculating on the motive behind the attacks. I'm not sure how you arrived at the conclusion that she's "Islamaphobic."

Anonymous said...

12:48 needs to go back to history class. That is if he every had a class in history.

Katy Anders said...

12:46: I don't know if it's about *easily* radicalizing people. I don't believe that terrorists are using good logic or methods for their crimes, do you?

But I can also imagine there's a narrative forming for many in the Muslim world. Wedding parties getting bombed (how is it we always end up bombing weddings, anyway?), an ongoing narrative about what we've done in the Middle East, talk of closing mosques domestically, etc.

I'm glad that Bush and Obama have consistently refused to make this about Islam and kept focused on "terrorism."

12:46 -

Sorry, I forgot to filter the scriptures through the lens of American Politics. Can you translate this one for me into the version approved by American "Christianity"?

Matt. 5:44-45
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Anonymous said...

I think I feel ill you have made me agree with WordKyle!!

Anonymous said...

1:12 I clearly laid it out for you pal! She obviously thinks the Islamic population can be radicalized en masse. She says so herself despite no historical context for such an occurrence or we would have seen it after 9/11. I was just pointing out the irony of her thought on the matter.

Anonymous said...

1:39 You do realize that is the kind of nonsense that got Jesus nailed to a cross, right. Unless you're the second coming I'd tap the brakes on living out that Scripture to the tee! I'm well prepared to answer to him if he questions my stance against radical Islam. Until them I will keep my guard up based off the actions of my enemies!

Anonymous said...

11:42 The OT verses you quote are all pre-taking the promised land. Because the children of Israel, at the command of God through their prophet, were told to go in and completely kill everyone in the promised land in order for them to occupy it. Not drive them out, or move in and let them be their neighbors, or take them captive.....totally kill them, men, women an children.

Anonymous said...

Winner.

And early Christians knew a little something about persecution, so this wasn't just some empty parable.

But Christianity is simply a political platform, not an honest faith, to people like Abbott and Wordkyle.

Katy, 10% of peaceful Muslims are pro-terror. Go ahead and accept the war because it's coming.

Unfortunately there is no word for "do over" in our language, so we just build casinos and take the white eye's wampum.

Are you syrious?

States do have the right to say "no!"

Tenth Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. The Tenth Amendment was included in the Bill of Rights to further define the balance of power between the federal government and the states.

Anonymous said...

"I clearly laid it out for you." - 2:01

It was clear as mud, "Pal." Thanks for clarifying.

Anonymous said...

Funny how NOW all the liberals are yelling "you can't do that. The law won't let you". Why has it been ok all these years with Obama???

Anonymous said...

4:33

Nice try. You may want to research application of the 10th amendment.

Anonymous said...

I can't help you understand irony if you don't have the mental capacity for it! The "mud" is in your head and I'm sure it leads to a great amount of difficulty in your everyday life. I will pray for you and I hope your affliction only manifests itself as a cognitive disability and not a physical disability as well. Just remember, keep those crayons in the lines and take plenty of naps! Now get back to those fries, they aren't going to cook themselves!

12:31

Uh, no, when it conflicts with Federal Law, unless you are talking about weed or prostitution, which are legal in some states.

Not all Muslims are terrorists, but the overwhelming majority of terrorists are Muslims. It's not rocket science.....

Kudos to our governor! At least some politicians place importance on the safety of our citizens over an illogical and haphazard political agenda to transform our republic to a third world country...

I thought Texans loved guns and the people that shoot them?

Anonymous said...

You take them in, you idiot BuBear. They have a centuries old practice of inter-marrying with the locals and converting a country organically to Islam. You have some teenagers in the house don't you? Prime breeding stock for those animals. But that's okay you blind and arrogant libtard. Talk about idiocracy. And not only that, give most of the rest of your earnings beyond taxes to the government so we can take care of them while they plot to bomb in Boston or shoot in Paris or hijack planes or take out power stations or conduct a cyber attack. Do you really believe the drivel you type? Really?

Bear said...

@1:47

Texans love "legal" use of firearms. That is what you libs don't get. We promote "legal" use of guns, not illegal use. You guys seem to blend all of them together. To libs, self defense with a gun is the same thing as murder. Conservatives know that they are two completely different things.

I'm a Christian and all of you quoting scripture are blind sheep. God gave you a brain too. Why don't you use it? Quit being a puppets.
