$75,000 for part time commissioners is a bad deal for taxpayers! $90,000 for auditor! Our appraisal goes up on our home but we never get a lower tax rate. Would like to know more details on what and who were cut in the budget.

Why do citizens complain about government wages when those same citizens have complete control over the situation at the ballot box? Hey, if you want to slash the pay of local government jobs, run and elect your candidates and when successful, cut all the pay so that nobody except the woefully incapable are able to be hired to provide all your local government services. Then you won't have to be horrified that people who apply their skills in the government sector get similar pay to the private sector. Your town will be a freaking disaster and a total cluster...but hey, at least we don't pay too much, right?

The problem is when the public sector jobs pay more than the private sector jobs and you still end up with total cluster...

And then the public sector gives themselves a huge retirement package at the expense of the private sector.

Now do you understand the problem?

plus add the monthly car allowance, free cell phone and other "perks" that are given to these folks. Why does every elected official need a vehicle allowance. It is not like they all are driving somewhere everyday. For instance the county treasurer-- why should the tax payer pay for her pickup to haul a trailer with. It would be cheaper if they paid by the mile for "official travel".

Pay no attention to the Wise County salaries behind the curtain. Cue the blame Detroit and public sector unions spokesperson.
