40 Years?

She testified two weeks ago she didn't have a deal with the prosecutors. Now she gets one for 40 years and will be eligible for parole in 20?

No honor among thieves or murderers.

Well, she didn't "have" one. She was just told by the prosecutor that it would "look good" for her, I bet.

40 years seems like a pretty good deal on both sides. She doesn't have to worry about the State of Texas killing her and the State's case against her husband was expedentially stronger because of her testimony. The State could have probably still had a fairly easy case without her testimony, but would have been a much harder sell for the death penalty.

And the whole eligible for parole in 20 years is also misleading. While she would technically be eligible after completing half of the sentence, it is very unlikely that she would be 1st time parolee, considering the nature of the offense.

Stay Classy
