That Would Have Been Terrifying

With all the campus killings in America, being huddled in the same building with a shooter on the loose would be chilling.

TALLAHASSEE — Three students were shot early Thursday at a Florida State University library before campus police killed the gunman, Tallahassee police said.

Officers confronted the gunman, whose name has not been released, and ordered him to drop his weapon. But he fired at them and they unleashed a volley of shots, Tallahassee Police spokesman Dave Northway said.

Both college campuses and our public schools are easy targets for nutjobs since all guns are banned on the premises. Remove gun bans from our schools and college campuses, and start offering CHL classes to students on college campuses and to public school teachers and watch this phenomenon disappear...

You mean, being huddled in a "Gun Free Zone" with a shooter on the loose would be terrifying...

While we're at it, can we go ahead and increase/improve accessibility to mental health care and mental illness diagnosis and prevention? Start treating the issues that cause these "nutjobs" to do what they do, and watch this phenomenon disappear...

I'm a liberal weenie and don't understand why we can't just pass more gun laws to prevent this.

Hey BG, watched an episode of NCIS this week concerning an ex Navy corpman who assisted some folks who were run off the road. She was prosecuted for assisting and being non-certified as a med-tech. Could you share how Texas law treats this as a service to your readers? If I ran up on your wrecked car with your family strewn all over the highway, I'd like to know just where I would stand. Thanks.

Why did the campus police interfere? Too many cops...right?

Myron May the shooter is black. And a lawyer. He was welcoming those students to the gun show!

Benjamin Crumb, Al Sharpton and other members of the Racial Grievance Industry need to get to Tallahassee stat! There's money to be made in this! There's political points to be scored!

Have another cocktail, Myron!

You people are a bunch of sheep. There's ample evidence to believe the majority of these "campus" shootings are bogus. Huddle and die, if you wish, or have the cahones to protect yourself. Or, better yet, simply ignore these police drills designed to make you even more obedient.

11:15 I am a dentist, not a lawyer. I can tell you that Texas has long had in place so called "Good Samaritan" laws which protect someone who is giving aid from that type of prosecution. I believe every state has them. There are protections for acts of commission as well as omission. Meaning, you couldn't be prosecuted for doing the wrong thing, or for not doing the right thing. For example, you find someone unconscious, don't detect breathing or a heart beat, and begin to administer CPR, and you are unable to revive the person, and the person expires. You won't be prosecuted for doing CPR inadequately, or with poor technique, or anything like that. Now, these protections don't help the Good Samaritan who does something over the top stupid. For example, you approach someone that you decide is having a heart attack, and you decide right there in the restaurant to cut their chest open and give them open heart massage - you're on your own there, Hoss.

If the shooter had been a starter on the FSU football team the police would have given him a ride off campus and delayed the investigation till after the season.
