I really enjoyed the comments about Alvord. The ISD and the athletic dept. This use to be a good school system but some people wanted to bring back a man that was fired in the past . Our enrollment was close to 230 at that time. We are currently at 202. I know several great athletes have left and I am hearing that several more will leave if we retain our coaching staff. Something needs to be done and fast. Our community and school is becoming a joke.

Ol' Curtis will end up teaching Jr. High history and Driver Education before long. Good place for him.

When was the last time the Messenger posted the verdict of a State Jail Felony trial in the Update and front page of the Messenger?

Probably never, I think they are just posting that because Barron was the attorney.

Y'all got beef?

2:04 - The real problem in Alvord is YOU and people like you. You do not have a clue what you are talking about. The best athletes in this school are the ones rising up in support to keep our coach. The ones that are doing all the complaining aren't going to make the cut any where they go because their parents won't let them be coached. The joke is on them when they go to another school, where the coaches don't give a crap and they don't even make it to the bench. The loud mouth parents acting like 2 year olds are the joke! Leave us and our coaches alone.

The problem is not the employee but rather the board!

I'm still waiting to read exactly what all the complaints from those who want Enis fired are. Why is no one talking about those complaints? Must be petty ones if they don't carry enough muster to be voiced publicly!
There are definitely plenty of parents in the community who are nothing but complainers and can't recognize those who push their children to be responsible and better - nope, these parents just want their kids passed along, pats on their backs telling them how glorious they are and, God forbid, don't dare hurt their little feelings!
And then there are those parents who have no kids in the mix anymore, but they still enjoy the gossip game and get their bellies full when the sh*t is stirred to ruin lives of professionals there. Just wondering also if the one man who is behind much of the stirring and petitions is wanting the AD position open so that a coaching member of his family might move in to take the Alvord AD position - instead of having to remain in another local ISD?
Goes to show just dedicate 20+ years to a community like Alvord and instead of support you get stabbed in the back by those who have pretended to be friends at one time.
So, I'll ask again that if these complaints are full of enough seriousness to fire the man, then why are they not being voiced in public and by official and legal means?
Really would like an answer to that question, anyone?

Enis isnt the reason why people are leaving Alvord. Enrollment is down everywhere. Look at Decatur ISD enrollment. Its dropping like a rock. The fact of the matter is that Texas education sucks and Enis is an excuse so board members dont have to make difficult decisions.

Enis did nothing wrong, he was a victim of daddy ball. Daddy ball is a growing epidemic. It starts in youth sports and grows until there is a train wreck. It was a better day when the good old gas station and first national bank sponsored your teams vs. the stitched baseball bags and under armour arm bands. The parents create this atmosphere and people like Enis didnt play the game. Its nice to know that there are people out there like Enis who arent influenced by over the top ass kissers and board members. Im going start selling chapstick and the pac and sac for 20 bucks a stick. Pucker up, there is going to be a new coach in town.

I for one don't care if we ever win a state championship or have any complaint with my child's playing time. I have a big problem with the lack of ethics displayed by athletic staff, and the poor values being demonstrated in front of our kids.

I have a problem with the poor values being demonstrated in front of our kids too, by the PARENTS, who stand on the fence line and yell and cuss out the kids, coaches, and officials. That attitude is brought onto the field by the kids. Ask the biggest complainer why his kid cost the team several penalty yards cause he can't control is anger issues. I'm betting he will blame that on the coaches too. Don't expect a coach to fix what you created in your child.
I also agree with 8:20 - the board is to blame for this mess, or at least three of them are. That is evident in the letter to the editor by a board member who thinks its his job to run the school.

2:40 says, " I have a big problem with the lack of ethics displayed by athletic staff, and the poor values being demonstrated in front of our kids."

Again, vague accusations tossed out but absolutely NO SUBSTANCE of evidence or examples to prove your very vague charges against Enis (coaches).
Lack of ethics -- evidenced by what behavior or event?

Poor values being demonstrated -- evidenced by what behavior or event(s)?

If you "witch hunters" cannot produce or provide the proof of the events you say are happening, then you are the ones in the wrong and I hope Enis sues you for defamation of character! Your gossip is appalling and is the most evidence I've witnessed of a lack of values or ethics!

Look in the mirror and practice shutting your mouths!

Thanks Alvord for taking the spotlight off us.

I feel sorry for all the teachers and kids at Alvord. What the board has done is allow the same ol' lynch mob with a few new hit men to bypass the chain of command, giving them the power to fire an employee without considering contractual laws. And who will pay the legal fees, the tax payers! Who's next, the teacher that didn't give their son a passing grade because he didn't earn it? Nobody's job is safe anymore. If I were the AD's replacement, I sure wouldn't be looking at a school where the board does not support and protect the faculty and kids from this kind of behavior.

Well, looks like no one can come up with actual and truthful reasons to fire Enis. No one has responded to my question as to "why" he has been fired. Pitiful when power hungry town idiots try to ruin the life of dedicated professionals who have proved their own salt year after year. SHAME on you, Alvord nutcases! Students - stand and fight for your coaches.

A person has to understand that the mentality of the Anti-Enis group has been with us since the beginning of time. It is the same mentality of those who:
-storm the jail to hang an prisoner without trial in the old west movies
- occupied the south during reconstruction
-lynched blacks across the south in the early 20th century
-instigated the Tulsa race riots in 1921
-lead the McCarthy Communist witch hunt in the 1950's
-murdered the civil rights workers in Mississippi in 1964
-slander and publicly humiliate public school teachers who try to give their children a better life in the 21st Century.
