Every time I get on this blog it makes me want to bury a cat up to it's head in the sand and run over it with a lawn mower.
So let me get this right Skippy, You are saying that a bunch of puffed up lawyers in Austin have bestowed upon us their superior and infinite wisdom concerning the financial funding of our public school system and at the end of a 3month intellectual exchange we find ourselves EXACTLY where we started. These facts are supposed to surprise us?My prediction: At the end of this discussion the schools will be forced to redistribute $817 million of which $815 will be distributed to the personal wealth of the lawyers involved -- all at the expense of the taxpayers.See also the Wise County Family Court -- the lawyers chew on the remains of the family carcass until enough of the family assets are "redistributed" to the personal wealth of the lawyers. And, oh BTW, they do it "in the best interest of the children"when will you guys just admit that you are profiteering scumbags?
I wonder what 4:18 does for a living that he/she is so high and mighty. It seems to me that unless you're out in the bush delivering the word of God on your own dime, you're probably a part of the wealth distribution system in one way or another. Sell cars for a living, well someone has to buy them. Fix A/C units, well someone has to have one break for you to be able to fix one. Oh wait, it just dawned on me, 4:18 is Pete Delkus, and i'm wrong, his job is completely benign.
4:18 -- To paraphrase Jerry Reed, why didn't you just learn to cook? You could have saved your ex-spouse from your winning personality and saved yourself the legal fees paid (or at least billed) in what surely was a painful divorce. Life's not fair because of lawyers, you say? Boo-frickin'-hoo. Go vote to outlaw laws and see how far you get.
Maybe Rand Paul will take it from where his dad left off. Department of Education--GONE! Interior, Energy, HUD, Commerce--GONE!
4:08PM, I started off with a chuckle and ended up guffawing whilst simultaneously almost peeing my pants! Call me crazy, or incontinent, just don't call me. P.S. Poor kitty!
Is this about the Robin Hood bs thingie we've gotten ourselves in to, that many schools joined together to fight? I hope so, and if not, it should be.....what a clusterfark.
4:18pm, it must really suck to be you!
What is the problem?Texas is in the top 50 states in school funding! We are 49th!Tells us about our priorities!
Wendy Davis will save us and do away with CSCOPE
4:18 must have hit a nerve with a few of you boys -- does the truth hurt that bad?
6:49-----------------It's too bad you ridicule 4:18's take on modernn America's modus operandi. It's more accurate than you'll ever realize. (until it's too late)
I am a bit disappointed in the ability of you lawyers to generate any valid argument to 4:18.4:51 - If a car salesman sells you a car you are assured the benefit of a car to transport yourself. If a AC repairman fixes your air conditioner then you are assured an escape from the heat. If a lawyer represents you in a lawsuit you are assure of nothing. If you are thinking that you are never assured of anything then I would remind you that there is a checks & balances to most businesses called customer service.Lawyers couldn't claim that there is any customer service concerns to there business.
If Governor Perry and other leaders would be leaders we would not be at this point! The legislature will not do a thing. Until forced to by the Supreme Court. Now that is leadership! How the Education Commissioners comments, clearly he cares nothing for school children!
I DONT THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN A STUDY THAT SUGGESTS THAT MORE MONEY EQUALS BETTER EDUCATION,HOWEVER EDUCATION IS FUNDED PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND DEDICATED TEACHERS WILL BE WHAT CARRIES THE DAY.MORE FUNDING MEANS MORE EMPLOYEES THAT NEVER SEE THE CLASSROOM BUT WORK IN THE OFFICES TRYING TO GET MORE FUNDING.SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS,IT IS EASIER TO SEE.
Wait a minute. Our state goverment is completely controlled by the Republicans that we voted into office....
So many scream for more school funding; but only if someone else pays for it.
The school funding issue is quite simple. First, calculate the acceptable cost-per-student statewide. Next, calculate the amount of tax revenue a district would receive at the max rate in it's district. Add the amount provided by the Feds. Subtract this total from the cost-per-student. State makes up the rest out of lottery proceeds etc. If your district has a surplus, well, good for you.
Nugent did all right. Morgan pulled the same kinds of tricks Liberals on here do. He implied that the increase in gun sales was because of Sandy Hook, and not a response to the government's attack on gun ownership. He ignored statistics that show gun ownership actually increases safety. (Nugent pointed out the failure of no-gun zones in Mexico and Chicago.) Morgan pulled out the "even if it saves just one life" argument in support of more gun restrictions -- ignoring the fact that the government compromises on saving lives every day. (Else the top speed limit would be 5 mph and we'd all have to wear helmets 24 hours a day.) So yeah, Nugent did okay. He provided his information and Morgan used his usual arsenal of "I'm the host" tricks.
4:51 & 4:56 - I agree with you.
And 8:28, that "surplus" is what started this entire legal discussion back in 1982(?) with the original Edgewood case.
To 11:43-Let's say the car salesman lies to you about the number of miles on the car and gets to you for a few hundred bucks more than the car is really worth and customer service tells you when you call to complain to go suck it because that salesman is no longer with the company. What's your remedy? I guess you COULD sue the car lot, if you knew how to navigate the legal system, but if you don't know how, what then? I guss you just suck it. Think along the same lines with respect to the A/C guy. Again, you suck it. And then there's the lawyer that you need to help you navigate the system. Well, if he or she does a good job for you, then you're happy and all is well. But if he or she steals your money and lies to you, your remedy then is to file a complaint with the State Bar, and if that's what REALLY happened, and not just your perception of what happened, then that lawyer will get his or her ticket pulled and he or she won't ever be able to do it again. Are there bad lawyers out there? Sure there are. Is it right to lump them all into one giant ass-sucking glob as 4:18 did? No, probably not. Interesting that we still have no idea what 4:18 does for a living and that you didn't make that disclosure yourself. For everyone that thinks of all lawyers as such a drain on the rest of mankind, the world wants to know what it is that you do to make a living so we can see whether you deserve the right to throw rocks at the glass houses of others.
It seems that all the lawyers are defending their ability to continue the fleecing of America.
It's a fact that we will simply have to accept.Cancer will continue, cockroaches will survive and lawyers will still be here.
10:26, So what your saying is, as long as I know an honest Car Salesman and and honest A/C guy I don't have to hire a crooked lawyer.
10:26 - I appreciate and expected your answer.... you state that the very lawyers that we bash would be our saviors in instances where the customer service process breaks down. I disagree. The outcome would be the same in either case so lets discuss the car.You hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit and it will result in 1 of 2 outcomes:1. You lose the lawsuit. You own a defective car. You are an additional $5,000 in the hole from lawyer fees. I contend that $5,000 would most likely correct any mechanical issue -- 2. You win the lawsuit. The car lot corrects the issue on the car. You have an operational car. You owe the lawyer $5,000.In either situation, the only one who comes out ahead is the lawyer. In the greatest percentages of cases lawyers are needed because someone is looking for a free ride, looking to rip someone off or they are taking an incredibly greedy position. Lawyers breed unrest, greed and legal extortion. Even Skippy agrees that schools are pumping out too many lawyers and they must feed off of someone so the profession sinks deeper and deeper into the sewer. As far as I am concerned you are just another turd.
People like to complain about attorneys until they find themselves in position where they need a good lawyer. At this time, folks will usually seek out the best Jewish junkyard dog lawyer money can buy. The Backdoor Intruder
And we still have no idea what sort of alteristic means of making a living the insult throwing 11:20 engages in. Way to make your point.
Back in the day (not too long ago) the schools were funded by their own local citizens. What the hell happened? Local districts need to tell the state to go to hell.
I don't think Decatur ISD gets hardly any money from the state anymore. I think the school sends them $5 million. But the state tells them what to do with our own money. stupid
