Sometimes in business it can pay off to to be political or religous in nature because you solidify a base of customers with similar values.

4:49, as I've said on this blog more than once: I'm 1% now -- or maybe the 1.5%, heh -- but I'm from just about as poor as you can get and still have a roof over your head. I got where I am via a combination of luck -- e.g. the family I was born into -- and hard work, aided by such things as a solid public education (Decatur, K-12) and a college that (though private and very expensive) had need-blind admissions, with gubmint-run programs like work-study, Pell and Stafford to make up the difference. I met my spouse in college (a person from a background nearly as poor as mine, btw), and via not only our own talents and work ethic but also a lot of right-place/right-time happenstance, we built together the life that we now have. SO: Both of us recognize that we never could have gotten to this place without certain opportunities, and we'd much rather make sure America is still the kind of country where that can happen, than save ourselves a few thousand bucks a year and slam the door of opportunity shut behind us.
There's no shame in being successful -- the shame is trying to keep others from it.
