I saw this as it was happening (the TV was in a public place, where I had no power to change it, or I would've when I figured out this was f'ing LIVE -- these things never end well). It was shocking, and horrible, and made me hate Fox "News" even more than I did before.

I saw it live. Shep said he had a bad feeling about it, when the guy got out of the car.
They put it on tape delay, but the engineer clearly did not hit the button in time.
Shep went crazy. It was great.
You guys -- please, try to remember we are talking about a human being, a child of God just like yourself. Consider for just a moment what pitiable and terrible circumstances and bad personal choices (there but for God's grace go you) and just crappy life paths led him to this day, a day in which he committed a major crime and then drove so as to endanger the lives of dozens and maybe even hundreds of people, and ended in him taking his own life in front of millions of people.
How can we accept this? How can we make stupid cynical "jokes" about it mere hours after it happened? How can we not feel shame, and disgust, and horror, and terrible, terrible pity for this waste of human life, and how can we not instead ponder what bloodlust, what base and ugly urges cause us to watch, to make it worth a major broadcast outlet's time to follow it all the way to the end?
Car chases are LCD filler for the news hole on any cable "news" channel. FNC just happened to win the golden ticket Friday whether they wanted to or not.
I happened to see this live shot come down NBC's SkyCom back in the day. R. Budd Dwyer's "Take Your Own" is something I won't easily forget:

3:57, I remember as a child watching Lee Harvey Oswald being shot and it made me hate NBC, CBS and ABC because they all showed it live. I will never watch those three networks ever again.

I wonder what kinda gun it was. And what happens to the gun? Does it belong to his estate? Also, will there be a chalk outline of his body in that grass? So many questions surrounding this man's death.
