Bronze statues will be placed on the square in their honor.

After attending the funeral of Marcus at the First Baptist Church of Alvord, I had an overwhelming feeling that another teen would die! So thankful the community will have ongoing grief couseling from professionals.

I don't think this needed a story in the Star Telegram...it needs to be dealt with, yes, but why publicized? City folks deal with it all the time.

I still don't understand how you can not hear an oncoming trian while wearing headphones even at full volume. I've sat at that crossing when trains come by & you feel it and I believe you will hear it regardless of the headphones. This theory just doesn't add up to me.

City folks may deal with it all the time. We are a close knit community where everybody knows everybody. It is a totally different situation. It hits hard in a small town like Alvord. It did deserve to be on the front of the Star Telegram. More prayer is always needed and that is something that could come out of it being on the front of the Star Telegram.

10:15.... I guarantee you that what happen to Marcus was a accident and nothing more. I personally knew Marcus and knew what kind of kid he was. He was one of the Happiest kids I have ever met and was always doing something to cheer someone else up. Not only that but there was plenty of witnesses that seen the accident happen and will tell you he never knew there was a train coming.

Go to Alvord & stand next to the tracks when a train goes by, you will feel it before it passes you.

As usual classless insensitive people. I'm sure your mothers are very proud of you all raising such well spoken, tactful and sympathetic adults. Barry if you had any compassion whatsoever you would disable the comments. Think, if this were your family would you even care that people were so rude and uncaring or would you just let them to continue to bash Mrs.LL and her precious daughters. Would SHE care if you allowed it, just for the shock factor and mean spirit you seem to want to bring out in people? Ask her that question and see where you sleep for the next month. May'be we should all go on her blog and ask her ourselves.

Everyone knows this is a wheels off blog..if you don't like what you read, then don't read it, unless you are just in it to complain about something you have no control over.

The Railroad keeps killing Alvord teens. The guy who is the liason for community relations is responsible.

Somehow hopefully news will prevent other death by train accidents. The Messenger did an outstanding job on making us aware of the danger of wearing earbuds. Other teens in other parts of the country have lost their life while walking on a railroad track with earbuds in their ears. The music is so loud with a strong base, they could not hear the train or feel the vibrations on the track. Why young teens don't know to not walk on the tracks is why we need awareness. I thank Barry for covering this issue to help save other communities the loss of precious life.
