Rock The Vote: Immigration Just Got Interesting

Story. Edit: Rumors are that those eligible must be under 30 and brought to the country when under 16.

And, in a coincidence (?), this is Time magazine for next week:

Does this mean I can legally run for student body president?

I seem to remember when Obammy placed his hand on the bible and swore to uphold the constitution. But I zoomed in on the picture of it and with the other hand he had his fingers crossed. Can we start the impeachment proceedings now?

Old news. ICE has been picking up illegals since last year. If they have a clean record they are released.

Poor Obama. Desperation is so obvious.

Anonymous said...

This means that employers who hire them are not punished anymore, right?

No its not a coincidence anymore than this is.

Only in the U.S. of A. Don't think other countries debate much about people who are illegally in their borders!

Anonymous said...

Why do legal Americans get punished for breaking the law...but "illegal Americans" don't? Something is seriously wrong in this country!

Anonymous said...

what part of illegal do the president and democrats not get. barry correct me if i am wrong but wouldn't using the term illegal mean that the action going on is not legal. Then again how many times has illegal been used to describe the actions of this administration

all I can say is "grrrr..."

Do Meskins like Banjo music? Maybe we should play some and find out.

Do you idiots really think we can deport all the illegals? Have you thought about the manpower and the cost to undertake such a task? If you guys think we can deport them all, you are bigger idiots than I imagined.

Better idea....a lot of them are already working, so give the ones that are productive a quick path to citizenship, immediately put them on the tax rolls and let them start paying taxes so we can generate revenue. As it stands now, we are only making sales tax from them.

Anonymous said...

my friends, you are not americans. If you have rights to education, healthcare, etc. then you also have rights to pay taxes like the rest of us. Born here, raised here, never left..but yet you just expect to show up and be handed all that I have had to work for..unacceptable.

One would hope some percentage of older democratic voters still are
grounded enough to create some backlash against o's socialist policies. I fear that is a small
percentage.

Anonymous said...

Are we talking about the president or Hugo chavez? The line is very grey.

10:34, How would you feel if you were a LEGAL alien that payed all the necessary fees and studied hard to become a citizen and then with a stroke of a pen, the ILLEGALS were given a shortcut and put on a fast track to becoming a citizen without having to put in the effort that you did? Bet you didn't think of that, did you? DUMBASS

Anonymous said...

We need a committee to tell us which laws are required to follow and which laws can be ignored. I bet we waste alot of time and money obeying laws that it turns out, are not enforced anyway. When do I, as a sovereign (sp?) citizen and one who pays for everything, get my free "lunch". If they want to stay here, make them pay for each year they were here illegally.

Anonymous said...

Oh goody! Now employers can hire illegals 30 and under without repercussion.

BigTex said...

10:34 - what not just pass a law that it is the death penalty to be in the USA illegally. They would deport themselves.

Triple Fake... said...

Technically, they are Americans - North Americans. They're not legally US Americans

For the record, I don't advocate deporting all illegals - it's not practical, ethical, or fiscally responsible. Provide a path for citizenship for current illegal residents, but you have got to make it virtually impossible to reach this country without going the legal route. I know that's virtually impossible to accomplish, so the solution is to say "If you are found here after X point in time without solid documentation, then you will be deported."
And if you think the US is the only place that cares about immigration problems, you are uninformed. Some of the source countries for most of our illegal immigration have strict laws and deal with illegals much harsher than we do here. The seemingly more relaxed attitude from the rest of the world stems from the fact that this has been the most favored destination for the last couple of centuries

Edit. Get em while they're young and dumb so that they will vote democratic.

I blame the white people in Decatur who have money but hire Primo's day laborers.

Wise County has to have the most ignorant voters on earth. How can they be SO DUMB, POOR and Republican?

Anonymous said...

Barry, isn't this called prosecutorial discretion?

Anonymous said...

These young Men and Woman that are included in this Executive Order have been educated here, Americanized, They only know One Pledge of allegiance, One National Anthem and by no fault of there own, they are here. This Order will make these citizens productive Tax payers in society. Incentive to make these young people Law abiding citizens instead of a draw on our judicial system. Another score for the POTUS.

12:45 Very naive aren't ya. What you are saying is already in place. The IRS is sitting on a bunch of money in regards to illegals.

The women are producing babies left and right and living off the government already.

This ain't nothing new.

Only a dumbass would think so.

Anonymous said...

This is great. Now, as a Republican who owns a company, I can get rid of all my Caucasian workers and hire illegals 30 and under to replace them.

I'm going to be rolling in the big bucks now.

I'm also going to call my buddies and tell them to get rid of their lazy union workers and hire the illegals too.

The operative word you used is "sitting" on. The Government holds these funds in a trust and are unable to allocate the funds until a return is filed. When they become properly categorized, they can then be spent.

Only a dumb ass doesn't know that.

Come on people you don't buy this BS? It's election time. Every candidate running for President, every time it is election time start trying to speak spanish or promises the Hispanic VOTERS something. It is just a carrot in front of the horse tactic used to get all this dumbasses to vote for them and then after they are elected it's F____ YOU. On the other hand how would like it if all your life you were in a country not by choice but becuase that where your parents lives. And now all of the sudden you are deported into a country that is so different to what you have been used to. Some of this kids know no other country other than this Great Country called the US of A. Yes there are some sh-- heads out there but as in any race. So remember there are 2 sides to every coin.

WTH? Obama just said this is not amnesty, etc.

So in other words business as usual for the millions that have never been caught. If you are caught they already let you go if you don't have a criminal record.

LOL People are so gullible to believe this is new.

What is painfully clear is that many of the posted comments provide overwhelming evidence that the authors of said comments: did not read the associated article; do not understand the concept of a work visa; are not particularly well educated; have no real knowledge about past/current/proposed immigration policy; and have no concept of the workings of any other country. Yet, they feel the need to "inform" the rest of us.

There’s evidence that the more misinformed we are, the more strongly we insist that we’re correct. In a fascinating piece of research published in 2000, the political psychologist James H. Kuklinski and his colleagues reported findings from a random telephone survey of 1,160 Illinois residents. They found few who were very well informed about the facts of the welfare system: only 3 percent got more than half the questions right. That wasn’t very surprising, but what should be a warning to us all is this: those holding the least accurate beliefs were the ones expressing the highest confidence in those beliefs. Of those who said correctly that only 7 percent of American families were getting welfare, just under half said they were very confident or fairly highly confident of their answer. But 74 percent of those who grossly overestimated the percentage of those on welfare said they were very confident or fairly highly confident, even though the figure they gave (25 percent) was more than three times too high.

This “I know I’m right” syndrome means that those who most need to revise the pictures in their heads are the very ones least likely to change their thinking. Of such people, it is sometimes said that they are “often in error but never in doubt.”

If Wise County votes 50% Dem & 50% Rep. How can we have the dumbest voters in America. It seems that half would be smart and half are dumb. Sounds like a perfect mixture of the rest of the country. I hate Wise County haters. If you don't like it here, get the hell out and stop bad mouthing us just to make yourself feel better. You are one of those that thinks if you put someone down, you are elevated because of it.

213 - You may or may not be correct about the informed status of commenters here. Nonetheless, they are at least as informed as those who express support for Obama's policies, so it's a push, don't you think?

And even if their precision of point is off, their overall impression is still correct. Obama is usurping the Constitutional role assigned to Congress; he is enacting law. From The Hill: "The policy change will accomplish portions of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, legislation that has stalled in Congress amid Republican opposition."

This, by the way, goes against what he said a year ago: “The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books that I have to enforce. And I think there’s been a great disservice done to the cause of getting the Dream Act passed and getting comprehensive immigration passed by perpetrating the notion that somehow, by myself, I can go and do these things. It’s just not true,” Mr. Obama said last year.

The Dream Act was passed in the House when the Democrats had control but failed in the Senate. Obama is acting like a dictator with this new "policy". The devil is in the details on how this is going to work, but Obama will do whatever will win him votes!
I don't have a problem with illegals who have served honorably in our military getting head of the line to citizenship. Giving all who are under 30 work visas is not going to help our citizens who are unemployed while living with their parents find a job.
Will illegals work for less? Will they have more children? Will Obama give the states more money to pay for medicaid, food stamps, education for the under 30 illegals?
This unconstitutional action will lower wages, increase the welfare benefits, impact our hospitals and doctor offices and increase the cost of education.
Work visas are important for jobs not filled by citizens, not just given out to win another term by a radical left socialist!
Any young person looking for a good paying job just got a lot more competition by a president acting like a dictator! I guess Congress can just come home!

This is simple stuff, really. The United States Constitution, @ Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4, reserves unto the Legislature, the power to "establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization". Actions ANY President takes which infringe upon the Constitutionally delegated powers of Congress are defacto UNCONSTITUTIONAL. He knows it, and every single advisor on his staff know it. Very, very sad.

Noone bitched when Italian workers were given visas to build the MHH bridge in Dallas. That was a Republican. Sad that it all comes down to party lines. There are workers in DFW who could and would have built that.

You need to read what he did not do.
He did not give them citizenship, in a nut shell he gave a two year work visa.

wordkyle said...

Forget for a moment that Obama is creating law. In 2008 Obama campaigned against Bush's presidential use of signing statements, which does much the same thing. Obama cited his authority as a constitutional scholar to basically say that a President (specifically Bush) issuing signing statements violated the Constitution. With any other candidate the media would be constantly running the video of those comments, asking if he was wrong then or if he is wrong now. He wouldn't be able to get away from it. (Look what they did with Romney's supposed hazing of another student in high school.) Instead, it's coverage of the political benefit Obama will get from this clever political move.
