I didn't have a problem with this ad. Maybe some of the far left who want us to believe that everything is "ok" in our country didn't like it because it points to the major crisis we are facing.
As a far right wing conservative I was unoffended by this commercial. Haven't actually heard anything negative about it. Only good comments so far from those in my circles. Maybe 2:52 is right. Maybe it's your left wing buddies griping?
It is almost as though he is saying that Detroit did it, and America can too. But I think people are upset because Detroit got bailed out by America. How can it be the model for us to follow?
Nothing wrong with the ad. It's the fact that the Black House jumped in after it aired saying, "look, see, even Clint Eastwood loves me...." which was not the meaning of the commercial.
It's more like Clint saying, "look Obammy, you tried to F' up the country and we still bounced back!"
Nah, the economy is improving in spite of Republican resistance. The commercial illustrates what can be be done when we all just get to work to solve problems.
11:41 Sorry, Democrats are not counting the unemployed who have quit looking for work to make us think the economy is improving! The election will be about the economy and increase in gas prices will not help Obama re-election. The auto industry got a bail-out but American Airlines, burdened with union labor, will not!
Clint Eastwood is a fiscal conservative and I don't think he was supporting tax payers bailing out auto makers!
The supreme disengenousness and irony of this commercial. Clint talking about a turnaround for Chrysler and America??? There is NO TURNAROUND possible for Chrysler. They are FIAT now. They were run into the ground by Americans and then Germans who could not turn them around.
Now, FIAT (Fix It Again Tony) is actually good at turnarounds. FIAT cars are well built and fun to drive, but Chrysler lives on in name only.
It's halftime...no they are f***ing dead by their own stupid hands...
The commercial is clearly very hypocritical because the American Tax Payers bailed out Chrysler and Detroit car manufacturers. They did not make it through tough times we the tax payer bailed out their private enterprise asses! The commercial was filmed in New Orleans. Detroit is still a hell hole where NO ONE wants to work or live. How much was Clint paid for this bullshit?

Because the Super Bowl is not the time to make a political statement. I could tell it wasn't funny so I tuned it out.

Controversial?
I don't see why we can't call a spade, a spade.
I noticed that, similar to the WWW. and more recently "like-us-on-Facebook", every super bowl commercial ended with a #hashtag.
I just don't get it.
Didn't they run a similar ad last year during the Superbowl about Detroit?
No one said anything about it then.
Second half about to begin and we need to change the QB.
The "conservative" site I frequent was upset because it was for a bailout company and not Ford.
I guess it is about bail outs.
Doesn't matter if it the auto industry or a hospital in Bridgeport.
It was clearly an endorsment of Obama. Obama saved detroit, and hundreds of thousands of jobs. The second half is Obama's re-election.
Obama 2012!!
meh

3:42- Well, um.... it worked.

Dude, quit being a Bogart and pass the wacky weed.
Tried to make King Obama as the savior for the US. Melt.Down.

I think it's because it seeks to undermine the liberal culture of dependency or somethin'.
What ya'll don't seem to be getting is this:
