While I am at best a "periodic reader" of "Liberally Lean...", for some time I have resisted the temptation, but can resist no longer, to ask the burning question: Does the Wise County Messenger PAY you to display and promote their publication? And if not, aren't you guilty of the same kind of "advertizing presented as news" that you are constantly bashing other media outlets for practicing? After all, in your header you state "A look at the NEWS (my emphasis) from the humble confines of Wise County, TX". While one may argue that you are presenting "news", I contend that the format chosen presents a "news product", not specifically "news". I am just curious if this is a case of "the pot calling the kettle black"? Thanks for your time and keep up the "Good Work".

Goober:
the definition of the word news has gotten very ambiguous lately. Technically, it means anything that a person hasn't already been notified of. The hard part is to get it out as quickly as possible, otherwise it isn't news. I think Green does a pretty good job of it considering he has a somewhat full-time job and a full-time family.
Most of his posts happen during regular working hours, which is a pretty good trick. And the front half-page of the Mess is usually news to folks who are at work when it hits the street

And comparing news to news product is kind of like comparing cheese to cheese product. After it's been digested, the damage is already done. Read the label carefully!
