Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • It's been dry and hot for months. So why were there big fires in both Palo Pinto County and Wise County on back to back days?
  • One player didn't wear a tie to the Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon yesterday: Martellus Bennett. If the Cowboys want to rebuild, I'd start with that guy. Not because he won't wear a tie but because he's never been a team player. (And he can't catch.)
  • We found a (new) home for the Skyler Dog, and it's all because of this blog. I'm saving the world -- one puppy at a time.
  • Mrs. LL was on the warpath last night about the Kids in the House "following the rules!!"  Who knew some Tootsie Rolls hidden in jeans in the laundry could launch such a storm?
  • It was the 15th year anniversary of the death of Princess Diana this week. It seems much longer than that.
  • An 18 year old on bond for murder charges in Tarrant County got arrested for drugs. Then a jury gives him 99 years in prison on the drug charge while the murder charge is still pending. I hope they were punishing him for the murder and not the drugs.
  • I don't have any trouble watching the 9/11 shows on the History Channel, National Geographic Channel, etc.  If cell phone video was widespread back then, that second plane hitting the tower would have been documented by thousands of people.
  • TCU/Baylor tomorrow. My months of optimism has about 36 hours to live.
  • Have you been reading Jarhead's blog over the last week? He went on a rampage against a truck driver which turned into a rant against all truckers.  Then, a few days later, he gets in a wreck that was his fault. The "karma" word has already shown up in the comments.
  • Former WFAA reporter Bert Lozano died of cardiac arrest at age 42. You might remember him from this streaker-in-the-background video.
  • Yep. That's a death at a young age and that disturbs me.
  • Matthew Fox of Lost got arrested and then one of those "I cannot believe how bad he looks"  mugshots surfaced. Turned out not to be him, but it's still worth a look because of the crazy resemblance.
  • North Texas plays Florida International tonight in Denton which kind of sounds like the Mean Green will be playing against an airport.
  • I've said this before, but if you're one of those guys who works late at the office and has kids that go to bed at a decent hour, I don't know when you ever see them.
  • I finally listened to Troy Aikman's interview on The Ticket where he took a shot at Skip Bayless. Wow. There's something really different about him. He was honest, edgy, and a little mean. Then again, a divorce can turn someone into No More Mr. Nice Guy.

I received my Baylor/TCU game shirt in the mail yesterday. It is way cool!

A reporter dead at 42? Yes, it happens Barry. If you wish to live past your sixties I would suggest that you begin now to have your arteries inspected. If there is a problem it is better to have it done now. As for me, I am 70 and do not care to live any more years, so I am sitting around waiting on Jesus to take me home.

Why don't the "inferior blogs" show up on your blog anymore??? I always read yours first, then go to some of the others.

Watch out.. she's about to go over. On Martellus; see no reason to have ever kept him, slow both mentally and physically.

So why were there big fires in both Palo Pinto County and Wise County on back to back days?

Because morons can still buy matches!

Why fires - the WIND is back - little wind means easier to control - beware the next few weeks

Mrs. LL is so right on this one. My daughter fills her pockets with candy wrappers, fails to clean out said pockets and my dryer gets stopped up. I can only imagine what Tootsie Rolls going through a dryer will look like to the child's clothes and the other people's clothes that were in there as well....YUCK!

Anonymous said...

hey where is the right side of your page? How am I supposed to finish my morning routine without your links?

Anonymous said...

I thought the liberals taking junk food out of skoolz and controlling what our kids eat through communist legislation would have ended the candy-in-the-pockets-and-washing machine problem.

Baylor is going to win the game. Mark it down. And, Texas A&M better be awake and ready to play when SMU shows up.

Just a minor comment....UNT is playing in Miami tonight not Denton.

I don't think that Bishop is the answer. However, Hudson is a JOKE. I just recently discovered that he's the one who runs the gas station across from Patty's Hair Parlor.
Silly me, I thought that a business wanted customers. I moved here about 10 years ago and went there for an inspection. Gomer & Goober were sitting outside on chairs, not doing a thing. No customers in sight. He said he was too busy to do one.
Another time, we attempted to rent a U-Haul from him. They were the only business who had the size that we needed. He sat on his butt while we went out there & located the right trailer. He had no clue where it was. You have to beg for any service.
I don't see him being any different as an officer. He's an arrogant, lazy a##. I will vote for Mickey Mouse before I would vote for Hudson.

Barry, so glad you found Skyler a good home!!! How did you do it?? I have a lady friend that took in a beautiful yellow lab and we have been trying for over a month now,(people to people and FB) I would take him in a NY min., but he is not cat friendly and I have two cats.

Anyone who has been out of work for a while now should listen to Mark Davis on the callers on WBAP RIGHT NOW.

You might learn something.

What? No mention of the feud between Obama and the House over the date for Obama's speach on the economy?

I would have thought all the liberals would have been up in arms over Boehner's rejection of Obama's proposed date. Certainly all the liberals would complain that this is just the GOP saying no, for the sake of saying no.

However, the smarter folks already knew this was a scam. Lets see...how can I distract America away from the GOP even more? Ah ha, I'll give a speach, in the House, at the same time that the GOP debate is going on?

Nice try Obama. You almost fooled the idiots.

Do you think Baylor will be headed to the Conference USA? Man, thats gotta suck. But they'd probably win more games in that conference.

You should try Google Maps. It's really accurate and can probably get you there faster.

Mr. Super Cop Bishop said in the Messerupper that he way tryin to run a Police Dept what the F is that all about? A Police Dept???

I'v known Mr. Hudson almost 40 years and he is not Lazy. one thing about Mr. Hudson is he will not play super cop and he will only do his job and not someone else job you will not ever see him on 380 running radar or running someone down and wrecking them out due to a traffic ticket

"He is not Lazy." So a mere statement makes it factual?

The statement previously made was based on business transactions with him. Now if you're a long-time resident with some importance, he might actually get his lazy arrogant a## out of that chair when you come to his business.

His attitude may be a result of his work as a public servant. He is accustomed to people bowing down to him. Apparently he doesn't realize that it was based on that badge, not his charming personality (sarcasm intended).

I am not saying that Bishop is the answer. He made a fool of himself over the vehicle debacle. He does not need to be patrolling the roads. I worked nextdoor to a Denton Constable's office for many years and they were kept busy just working their core job.

But we certainly don't need Barney Fife back in office. No wonder people laugh at this county.

FYI Princess Diana died in 1997, 14years ago.

Constable Bishop must GO! Hudson does NOT need to replace him! Neither need to ever hold that office again! andddd...... neither needs to!

Keep a watch for the BEST candidate to throw a hat in the ring! Hands down, will be the perfect constable!

Please pass the word that we do not need either Bishop or Hudson! Both have failed miserably in past years! New blood is coming!

Tootsie Rolls in the wash will send many who do the laundry careening right over the edge. It's not good when those make it into the dryer and may cause the doer of the laundry to also use words that make them sound less like a lady and more like a sailor.

And, Dude, you freaked me out on the Diana thing. She died when Grace was a baby and she just turned 14-or so I thought. For a moment, I was skeered I'd missed a b-day somewhere along the way.

GO FROGS !!!!!! I hope TCU smacks down the Bears like they did last year. I know it is a different team this year, but I still bleed purple.
