good way to get everything in a up roar and get the shelter and animals in the eyes of the public. funny funny could it of been the mentions of election time?
Who's a pretty dog? Who's a pretty dog? You are! Yes, you are!My Other Brother Darryl
The shelter needs a director that gets along well with people and encourages the public to be involved. What we have now is FAR from that. Sheriff Walker really needs to consider someone else for this position. Someone that welcomes volunteers, welcomes suggestions and has an eye for improvements into the revolving social media era we are living in would be a start. Everyone has the ability to learn new ways of doing things, but not everyone has the will to do so.
I don't understand why pictures couldn't be taken. What is there to hide? Don't they want these animals adopted? Or....out of sight out of mind let's kill them? What was the problem?
On January 20, 2013, hopefully our long national nightmare will end.
"Please excuse our mess!" For sure, it has been one big MESS and none of this should have ever happened. I too believe the same that 1:06 stated. Since that new ACO (mosely) took over, there has been one fiasco after another there! Can't the "powers that be" SEE that? Hire someone (a team, even) that KNOWS how to and has EXPERIENCE in running a successful, friendly animal shelter!!
12:35 and all you other illiterate hicks out there, it is could "have" or would "have" or should "have" not "could of" or "should of" or "would of" in all of those phrases. No wonder everyone thinks Wise county is some dumb.Stupid is as stupid does.
What kind of jerk are you, Barry? Lots of sarcasm in that title: Our Long National Nightmare is Over!Just because you are not an animal supporter doesn't mean you have to make fun of those who are. Again: JERK!
I don't understand why we have an animal shelter. I could make the shelter obsolete in about 5 minutes.
Hypocrites are everywhere around here! Gripe because something is stopped, then gripe when the ban is lifted, gripe because xyz isnt good enough, everyone has a better solution and the list goes on. I have been to the shelter several times, it is always clean and the employees have always been kind and courteous. They have a tough job and I admire the efforts they put into their jobs.
My God people. Get a grip. While I don't advocate abuse I still realize these are just animals. They didn't need a huge expensive facility with A/C. You realize that nature made these animals to survive outdoors right? Just because you ignorant people give them human attributes doesn't mean everyone else needs to treat them as such. If your bleeding heart is crying for these animals take them in yourself until they can be adopted. Quit wasting my tax dollars on bigger and bigger facilities. And if you think you can run the damn facility better than everyone else then quit your job, put in your application, and shut the hell up. Y'all wear me out.
Dog photo bliss. Nothing like it.
The Sherriff buckled under the paws of the people. Unity Pays !!(Or maybe he came to his senses and said to himself ... "Never take advise from whom ever told me to do that".
4:04 Sometimes I feel just like you.
I've never had a problem with xyz. And I haven't heard anyone else complain about them either.
Put this this bed like Old Yeller......
I have been to the animal shelter on many occasions and have not had a problem with Mr. Moseley. I have found him to be very polite, courteous and professional. I have also found the shelter to be clean, the animals fed and watered and cared for very well in an air conditioned facility that is well maintained. This facility is much nicer than most I have been in. I believe it is possible that Mr. Moseley has a demanding job that requires a lot of attention. Not only does the animal shelter care for dogs and cats, but it is responsible for responding to calls for animal bites, loose cattle, snakes, and anything else that has to do with animals. This is county wide and this isn't a small county. Then there are the animal rights activist nuts out there who have their "agenda" and you have to deal with them too. I believe that Mr. Moseley has a boss who dictates what he "should" and "shouldn't" do and not all that he says or does is his idea. I think before one passes judgement on someone they should get the FACTS and maybe walk a mile in that person's shoes before making personal attacks. If anyone doesn't like the fact that unfortunately some animals have to be euthanized, then maybe they should start adopting, or find someone who will adopt. One doesn't NEED a photograph to choose an animal. All you have to do is go to the shelter and pick one out.
Sorry..... Let us put this to bed like Old Yeller! Man, I must have had to many tears on my keyboard from the lost souls of all those dogs that died needlessly while soldiers died over seas and a baby died in a mothers womb. Happy Fourth America!!!! Long live the photographed pooch!
David. You ole buddy said that is the most ignorant you could have done. Also the shelter is not there for people's stupid mistake to dump a pet because (Fill in any of the reasons)just because they mde another mistake.
9:01 - I'm trying to figure our whether you are an animal control employee or a sheriff's department employee. I believe Mr. Mosley was probably put in his position to make decisions so the sheriff didn't have to. That was a supervisor does. If he wasn't then the sheriff is micro-managing things and needs to put a competent person in there that can make rational, well thought out decisions. Looks like the no picture decision lasted what 3 or 4 days and was then rescinded. As for your comment on animal rights activists, the shelter operation is accontable to the taxpayers of Wise County. I don't believe the taxpayers have any agenda other than ensuring our "county" shelter is run in an efficient and smart manner. Because someone has a complaint doesn't make them an activist.
I am neither an animal control employee nor a sheriff's department employee. I am simply a citizen of this county reporting on my observations at the animal shelter. I too believe the animal shelter should be run in an efficient and smart manner and I have NO DOUBT that Mr. Moseley is doing such based on MY observations. I believe he IS a COMPETENT person who DOES make rational, well thought out decisions. I believe that YOUR problem and the problem of others is simply that they didn't get their way concerning the pictures so you raised acted like children and raised a big stink, made false accusations, and attacked Mr. Moseley's integrity and job skills just to get your way. Why don't you grow up and AGAIN, GET THE FACTS before you start pointing fingers and badmouthing someone you don't even know. The FACT is, the Wise county animal shelter euthanizes VERY FEW animals and then, only when they have nNO other alternative. I am neither an animal control employee nor a sheriff's department employee...not that it should matter or that it is any of your business, but I am simply a citizen of this county stating my personal observations at the animal shelter. You and others are making false accusations and attacking a man simply trying to do his job and I am just stating what I know to be true. First of all, Mr. Moseley is very competent and qualified to do his job and you people need to grow up and stop acting like children just because you didn't get your way with the picture deal. If you feel the shelter isn't being run properly, then drop by anytime and check it out. I think you will find otherwise if you can be truly fair and honest. I know for a FACT that they don't euthanize animals unless they absolutely have to and even then it is very few animals. If you will check with PETA on their statistics, you will find they euthanize 95% of the animals they have "rescued". That is a far cry from what goes on in Wise County. Again, if you have a problem with the care the animals are receiving, the by all means ADOPT them and quit complaining. Also, stop attacking a man for simply doing his job just because you didn't get your way. It's childish. If this is all you have to do, you need to get a life.
Even "supervisor's" have bosses and rules they have to go by. Just being a supervisor doesn't give you the authority to do ANYTHING you choose. Like the previous poster stated...GROW UP, quit complaining and adopt an animal from the shelter if you don't like the rules there. Leave the guy alone, he's just doing his job. Crybabies...
Now you people are attacking the posters just because they take up for the man in charge! Accusing them of being county employees when you have no idea who they are. Could it be they actually HAVE been to the shelter as they stated and saw a good job being done and don't see a problem??? They were probably there to adopt and not there just to take pictures. Why don't you people just shut up and give it a rest? Like the poster said..GO ADOPT and quit gripeing!!! If you don't like the way things are being run at the shelter, apply for the job if you think you can do it better. I think you will find you don't want the job. I know I don't.
Don't you people have anything better to do? Have you been to the shelters in other counties? This one is awesome compared to other counties. What is the big deal??? So you couldn't take pictures, so what??? Are you just there to take pictures of the animals or adopt them? Why not take one home with you instead of snapping a photo? Give me a break!! I wish this was all I had to complain about!!
